I got an order in this friday and decided to try out TPA Toasted Marshmallow and INW Cactus in my existing recipes.
Recipe 1: 4% TFA Strawberry Ripe and 4% CAP Strawberry Sweet. I added 1% each of the Toasted Marshmallow and Cactus and the Cactus is a bit overpowering. As of today it has been 2.5 Days and the strawberry still isn't coming through. I have been told that the floral/viney/aloe taste mellows out over time, and I know that this strawberry mix comes together more over time. I'll be letting this (120mL) bottle get some age and update this post. Also, the marshmallow successfully smoothed out the bit of harshness i was getting in previous version.
Recipe 2: 8% TFA Juicy Peach. This is great. I gave it the same treatment as the strawberry above and the cactus flavor blends well with the peach flavor. I imagine that this would work similarly with a melon type flavor. The wife loves this one and is now vaping again after months without.
Recipe 3: 10% TFA Fruit Circles. I know that there are lots of haters out there for this one, but I have always loved fruity cereals and don't mind the pledge flavor. I gave this one 1% Toasted Marshmallow and 0.5% of Cactus. The desired effect was achieved. The harshness was mellowed, as with the others, but this time I achieved the lessening of dry mouth feel without any noticeable flavor change.
I hope that these notes help with anyone else that is considering the use of Cactus, and with Toasted Marshmallow. I highly recommend these.
Edit: Apparently I the cactus works better for juiciness in 0.1-0.5% Thanks to /u/tranceinate for the help here.
Follow-Up: 1% was way too high for the Cactus. I wound up taking the peach and strawberry and mixing them down to 0.5% Cactus (by splitting the bottle and then adding all ingredients for the half bottle except the cactus)
I'm really enjoying the Peach and Strawberry mixes now
I guess my first question would be: why would you think to combine Toasted Marshmallow and Cactus? Sounds like an interesting combo, but I never would have thought of it.
He mistook TFA Marshmallow & FA Marshmallow for Toasted Marsh. He dun goofed.
Marshmallow for creams that need a slight moisture, slight wetness, kaktus for fruit mixes that need juiciness.
Toasted Marshmallow can actually add dryness at higher percentages & also depending upon what you mix with it, like peanut butter, for example.
I did get mixed up, but I was looking to smooth out a bit of harshness and it worked well, at least with the cactus. I was adding the marshmallow and cactus for the support that each gives to the primary.
That makes sense. I just started adding Cactus at 0.3% in most of my fruit mixes, but maybe Marshmallow is a good idea to smooth out some of my recipes. I'll post the recipe I made for a Pink Starburst flavor I think that would work wonders for:
- Strawberry Ripe(TPA) 10%
- Sweet Cream(CAP) 1.5%
- Pink Guava(FLV) 1.75%
- Meringue(FA) 2%
- Whipped Cream(CAP) 1.5%
So I'm thinking maybe add 0.3-0.5% cactus(INW) and not sure what % marshmallow(FA) would be necessary. Obviously this is a modified version of Gremlin's recipe that was posted here the other day, but its been my ADV the past two days.
Exactly as /u/tranceinate said. Marshmallow adds smoothness and fullness of mouth feel and cactus adds juiciness/wetness of mouth feel. These were added for individual values, not so much as being a pair. I will however probably wind up mixing a bottle of 2 parts Marshmallow to 1 part cactus that I can add to a recipe at 1.5% and be easier than adding both in smaller quantities. This is just working out a general smoothing agent that can be mixed and used for most recipes for 'finishing' qualities
What exactly does the cactus do? I've had a cactus flavored ejuice once it was kinda Tasty IIRC.
At low percentages, .1-.5%, it adds juiciness/wetness to certain recipes. Any higher & you start getting juicy, melony, kaktus flavour like OP experienced.
I was actually thinking that I had read 0.5-1% but 1% is too high
Yeah, I've seen a few people in similar shoes (sometimes they havent even ordered/tried it!) recommending it at .5-1% which is just too much for most recipes.
More commonly you'll see .5% recommendations, but even that's too much for some recipes. I usually recommend "around .2-.5%", but sometimes just a drop or two (~.1%) is all that's needed.
INW Kaktus + FLV Cantaloupe at a 1:2 ratio is a pretty tasty, juicy melon vape, btw.
