Sugary Flavor/Feel?
submitted almost 10 years ago by VlRU5

I'm working on a "jelly donut" flavor (yeah yeah, lots of donut recipes out there) but was wondering the best way to approach the powdered sugar taste?

I'm certain 1%-4% ethyl malinol/cotton candy will sweeten it but I'm trying to get that powdery feel like found in brown sugar flavors and sometimes sherbet flavors.

Frosted donut is a good base and the strawberry blend in it I just don't find sweet enough, even using sweet cream.

Any help or experiments would be greatly appreciated!

FA Merigue is decent for that sugary feel, EM and brown sugar too

Certain flavors actually taste 'powdery' to me. FLV Blueberry comes to mind. It's a strange suggestion, but could work if you already are working with jelly or jam type flavors.

FA Meringue at 2-3% is closest thing I can suggest....

Try using stevia extract. I had tried this before using TFA sweetener and cotton candy (EM). Just be very careful the stevia is very strong. You will probably only need <5 drops / 30ml. I have found if you overdo it then the stevia starts taking over the flavor and you are left feeling like you are just vaping sugar.
