DO'H!NUT - Mmmm... Doughnut.
submitted almost 10 years ago by hblamo

So I've been waiting a long time for someone to use Glazed Doughnut by Capella. I tried tons of different recipes and nothing seemed to taste right, plus the doughnut always tasted like a cardboard playdoh sandwich. (It was fun to play with, not to vape)

After all the craze over Bronuts I obviously turned to that recipe first to gather some direction on where to start. Well, that really didn't yield much useful information for me. See Glazed Doughnut (CAP) and Chocolate Glazed Doughnut (CAP) aren't even close to the same style of ingredient. This meaning, I can't just drop 7-8% Glazed doughnut in place of Chocolate Glazed Doughnut and BOOM hookers and blow for all. Its just doesn't taste right.

So with that over, here is my "DO'H!NUT v1".

http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/308345/DO%2527H%2521NUT+v1

Ingredient | % ---------|---------- Bavarian Cream (TPA) | 2% Biscuit (INAWERA) | 1% Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy (CAP) | 0.5% Vanilla Custard V1 (CAP) | 1% Fruit Circles with Milk (TPA) | 3% Glazed Doughnut (CAP) | 2% Graham Cracker (Clear) (TPA) | 0.5% Meringue (TPA) | 2% White Chocolate (TPA) | 0.5%

Flavor Breakdown:

Creams: Bavarian Cream, Vanilla Custard and Meringue I used all for the sake of masking some of the harsh doughnut flavor. I think the Custard I think helps bring out the "frosting" flavor that I was going for. I think it could use maybe a percentage or so more though. Meringue helps make things more fluffy and airy and bavarian cream just helps the custard with making the frosting more well rounded.

White Chocolate: This is a weird flavor and I've tried to use it before in a lot of things, but I think paired with the creams, this really helps give the flavor a little bit of an edge in the frosting department.

Graham Cracker: I think the overall recipe could use more graham cracker. I plan to bump the percentage up to maybe 1% or 1.25%, just to get that extra bakery flavor in there.

Fruit Circles with milk: Now I personally think this is a very important flavor to this recipe. I call it the "sprinkles". Also with the added benefit of bringing more milky flavors to the frosting on top.

Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy: I personally think this is a interesting add to the whole mix. It brings a touch of sweetness and also helps give the frosting a tasty glaze. That being said any EM would probably work fine.

Glazed Doughnut and Biscuit: These are obviously the "doughnut" in the mix. Biscuit is being used to help round out the doughnut and hopefully keep the doughnut from tasting too much like a craft project your kid brought home from school.

Now I don't think this is the best thing since sliced bread. Even though I did a slightly silly "hype thread" about it, I was mainly just excited about getting anything near a doughnut when I mixed this. There is still a lot to do with this recipe. It needs more sweetness, the doughnut could probably serve to go down a little and the frosting could use a touch of something, but im not sure what... Not to mention I only have a few days in on steeping (even though I've been vaping it all day and really think it could turn out great with some slight modifications.)

Any suggestions are more than welcome.

I've got the same issue with CAP Glazed Doughnut, although my jelly doughnut is finally coming together now. I really like this idea -- super creative. I'll have to get the one flavor I'm missing, but I def need to try this recipe! Great share (don't forgot to put it in the recipes thread!)

uh, where does the strawberry of Dohnuts come in?

by winterfogalmost 10 years ago

I don't think he means this to be a clone of any existing juice.

So... might need to revise the name.

~~STUNHOD?~~

Sorry, for some reason i read your comment as "REVERSE the name

Haha, I think Stunho'd would be a brilliant name. Stunned by hos. Stunho'd.

Yeah, this was an unfortunate accident. Any suggestions for a new name?

I think you should call it "The Crushing of /u/crappy_guitarist's Dreams."

I feel like the strawberry comes in alittle with the fruit circles w/ milk also its not like a pink doughnut really tastes like strawberry anyways. Its all sugar flavored.

i get that, but Dohnuts mimics the strawberry in their juice. In fact, i think their description says something like "Strawberry frosted donut, with jelly filling"

Are you talking about this?

Edit: Just for clarification, this really wasn't supposed to be a clone.

Awesome, thank you!

Let me know what you think!

I personally think it tastes slightly better with a overnight steep but it did taste good as a shake and vape. Just slightly harsh.

With some of these recipes giving me an unwanted throat hit even when mixed at max VG and having recently ordered a concentrate just called "smooth" I'm wondering how well it'll work if I add a drop or two to a 30ml w/o killing a flavor.

1 points

by hblamoalmost 10 years ago

You know I haven't tried smooth. I may have to throw it into my next order and see how it plays with stuff. But feel free to try it, I'm sure it won't hurt. This recipe isn't super delicate.

I'd love to, but I'm missing a substantial amount of flavours on the recipe. I've have like, 140 bottles of flavours here, and I kinda had to put myself on a buy moratorium for now. You know how it is ;) Still, learned a lot from the post!

Glad you enjoyed the read, and yeah I do know what you mean. Haha also take what's written with a grain of salt. It's more like flavor theory than flavor fact.

GODDAMMIT I just put in my order with Bull City today and I have all but a few of these flavors in it.

AND it turns out that I forgot one or two of my flavors I need. Anyone know if BCV will combine your orders for shipping?

I'm sure they will if you email them.

they;ve combined mine before without me even asking, and put a credit for the shipping cost of the 2nd order.

Ha, yeah, my friends are on a bronuts kick so I'm going through a fair bit of chocolate glazed doughnut. I'm tempted to just mix a large (180ml+) batch and let it steep till it's needed...but how much is too much?

1 points

by crosstown_rebelalmost 10 years ago

I make a couple 30mls of bronuts every week so i dunno. If you like it, make that shit!!!!

What if I'm looking for a glazed/cake (old fashioned) doughnut? I might need to post a thread just asking what folks prefer to use for their cake and donut bases.

You could probably sub the doughnut for yellow cake and remove fruit circles/blue rasp. In their place add normal EM at say 0.75 %

TPA Frosted Donut is more of a yeasty cake doughnut. Just a suggestion, its a solid flavor that's underused.

Thus another flavor I need to add to my list... Do you have any recipes that you've used it in?

Going to mix this and report back (and actually report back since 90% of you turds say you will and never do).

Don't have high hopes for this as glazed donut and fruit circles are pretty awful but going to keep an open mind :)

First impression: Not in love but I don't hate it. It does in fact not taste like play dough or Lemon Pledge which is pretty incredible.

I'm going to mix a second batch and alter a bit and add 2% Cap Sweet Strawberry and kick meringue up to 3%. Using FA Meringue over TFA which TFA is a bit more airy and I find FA Meringue to have more substance to it which could better relay a frosting taste (in my opinion).

May even try adding 1-2% CAP Vanilla Whipped Cream which I'm kind of obsessed with lately.

All in all it's a pretty good recipe, nothing like I expected. It's not AMAZING but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. It may even help drive some new ideas, thank you for posting!

Thank you for replying! Im glad you found some of it useful!

For sure try some new stuff and see where that goes. I also am playing with adding FA Meringue (or maybe a mix of both so I can get that airy for the doughnut and that milky for the frosting).

I plan on possibly adding some Yellow Cake to it too. I have a version two as well. I haven't gone too far with it. All I changed were percentages and it really didn't do what I wanted it to.

Please report back if you find something special that really brings it together.

Haha hope it's something that starts to peak an interest. There are faults in the recipe but changes are in the work.
