Glass pipettes
submitted almost 10 years ago by wizzlezim

How do these look: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088ARCUU

Any other suggestions for which pipettes to get? I don't fancy syringes for small/precise amounts.

My idea is to decant all my flavorings into glass vials, and then use pipettes to extract from the vials and drip into a bottle/flask/whatever that's on the scale. That's a good idea right? And with these pipettes you can remove the rubber suction bulb and rinse them out.

Clear plastic, 1ml, bags of a bizzillion for cheap, use em for a few times wash them off, remember you are trying to lower your cost. Plus if those glass ones have a rubber squeeze bulb, some flavors and juices will ruin that rubber over time

Thanks. I did consider disposable ones that come in bags of a bazillion. Only found non-sterile ones on Amazon though, or individually wrapped expensive ones. I'll look harder.

Jesus Christ, You're not injecting the ejuice into your vein. Your adding nicotine, a poison to all microbial life, and then boiling it off your coils which further kills anything that could have possibly survived in the bottle. You do not need sterile pipettes for any reason.

For what it's worth, I bought 2 giant dropper bottles for my PG/VG, my flavorings all come with drip tips to accurately drip, and I bought those glass pipettes you linked for my nicotine.

I don't see the need to extract flavorings into glass vials and then into another bottle.

Look into mixing by weight... it's entirely leaps and bounds easier

I got funnel from SEOH and it was chipped to high hell even though it was packaged well. Amazon makes returns easy, but just consider that as a factor. I get something cheap and disposable like this

Do I trust 'Elegance4beauty' when they say "Chemically Inert and non-toxic" lol.

Looks like the winner though, I think I'll buy these.

edit: I'm over-thinking the whole safety thing. Trace amounts of death everywhere and I'm still alive.

Also, I believe nearly all of the plastic pipettes you'll find are LDPE, or low-density polyethylene. The Wikipedia on that plastic type has this listed for chemical resistance:

-Excellent resistance (no attack / no chemical reaction) to dilute and concentrated acids, alcohols, bases and esters

-Good resistance (minor attack / very low chemical reactivity) to aldehydes, ketones and vegetable oils

-Limited resistance (moderate attack / significant chemical reaction, suitable for short-term use only) to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, mineral oils, and oxidizing agents

-Poor resistance, and not recommended for use with halogenated hydrocarbons.

Yeah, your over worried about the whole thing. You can be in a sterile clean room, using sterile everything, with sterile bottles and sterile liquid. As soon as it leaves a sterile environment and you open the bottle that sterile is gone. Also, once you fill/drip into your tank or atty you bring a none sterile item into the mix. Plus, you leave the tank or atty exposed to the elements.

It's good to be sterile and work in a clean area to minimize the potential but don't free using none sterile items like the bazillion pack of pipettes. Use once and throw away. Now when it comes to nictoine that's another ball game. That's where you would want to use a sterile syringe and discard after use.

You don't need to get that specific brand per se, I just typed "plastic pipette" into amazon and clicked a cheap one. Poke around under the "plastic pipette" search results and find what works for you between price, quantity and quality. I just find plastic pipettes that are disposable to be less of a hassle over glass :D
