Lets talk Grapefruit recipies. I'm looking for something along the lines of Pink Starburst.
submitted almost 10 years ago by FluentInTypo

gremlin juice has one I really liked. It was sweet, grapefruity, without a tremendous amount of bitter peel overtones. I find regular orange, hrapefruit and even limes hard to work with due to the bitterness - which some people like, but I dont. I use mandarin in place of orange usually. What are your tips and tricks for grapefruit?

"Official Leaked Gremlin Pink Sunburst recipe"

FW Sweet Tart 3.4%

TPA Strawberry Ripe 10%

TPA Sweet Cream 5%

FW Ruby Red Grapefruit 1.6%

Odd percentages, but it all comes out to 20% flavoring for this one.

This recipe was created long before I ever tasted INW or FLV, so it can be vastly improved, but changing a recipe that has fans is just never a good idea. However, that does not stop YOU guys from changing the Ruby Red Grapefruit with some INW or the sweet cream with Capella Whipped Cream... But, to reproduce the Gremlin flavor, this is how ya get it.

Enjoy!

MGremlin is to thank for this one. I just had the recipe to share. This was his suggestion to publish it to y'all. (Which obviously I was OK with)

FYI, Gremlin juice is some good stuff (especialy their Apple Pie) and /u/gremlinjuice is a fine sponsor over on /r/ecrpoker.

Not to derail the conversation, but are you guys planning on expanding your diy flavor base offerings?

I personally would buy Pink Starburst base from you guys over buying the individual flavorings, at least to try it.

This is awesome. I'm thinking of subbing TFA sweet and tart for FW. And flv pink guava or inw grapefruit for the FW as well.

FLV's Guava flavor could service well as a candy-grapefruit flavor for a pink starburst recipe.

Just a heads up that for some reason your comment was removed- I've approved it for now

Yes! Pink Guava is really good. It has a fresh grape fruit almost 'green' quality to me.

I've not found a good standalone grapefruit, but FA Citrus Mix has a nice prominent grapefruit note

Very old Pink Starburst recipe I used to use, I loved it back then but I am certain it could be improved. Also, I doubt the Sour is required.

  • Strawberry (TPA) 8%
  • Vanilla Swirl (TPA) 4%
  • Sour (TPA) 0.5%
  • Pear (TPA) 2%
  • Sweet Watermelon (CAP) 7%

Pink starburst are strawberry though? I have a flavor from Audio Fog called reverb that's supposed to mimic that flavor. I'd love a clone of it but I don't taste any grapefruit in the flavor....

I think the red ones are the strawberry and pink are technically grapefruit , probably with strawberry mixed in to make it sweeter.

Red ones are cherry and Pink are strawberry, but next time you get some starburst flavors think grapefruit as you chew it. I think it's the juice 'base' for their candy.

I am definitely going to do this. I always thought of it as "pink lemonade" and guess I always associayed that with grapefruit over strawberry even before I tried your blend. I dunno, pink starburst being grapefruit just made sense to me.

Update because I have a ton of halloween candy in front of me: the light pink ones are strawberry and the darker pink ones are watermelon

Did you try gremlinjuice's suggestion of closing your eyes and thinking grapefruit chewing one? The anticipation is killing me!

I've never had it, but it's probably either FW Ruby Red Grapefruit or INW White Grapefruit considering that those are the only two grapefruits being sold on the DIY site.

FLV Pink Guava has a similar profile to a grape fruit.

careful though...shit's strong

I think he means similar to grapefruit. What would you do without me?

FA Grapefruit is a really good flavor, if you're using it at a low percentage and include other flavors with a sweeter profile you'll get nice grapefruit undertones. I don't think its all that bitter, but grapefruits are my favorite fruit and I like bitter stuff so take that as you will. More 'sour' than bitter really, not many flavors around which actually (intentionally) impart bitterness imo.

I used Grapefruit as an addition to my Space Jam Andromada clone and it was delicious.

I really like this pink starburst recipe:

8% strawberry (or ripe) 4% vanilla swirl 4% sweet cream 2% sweet tart 2% cotton candy All TFA

Has anyone tried to add INW cactus to these starburst recipes??

I actually just bought this flavor this week on impulse. I dont even remember what flavor it represents, haha. What are your thoughts? How would it potentially complement a strawberry/grapefruit blend?
