Sweet Tea, Cookies and Liquor? Not a bad Sunday night.
submitted almost 10 years ago by InsigmaTheoryPâtissier

So, TPA just came out with a few new flavors recently. Normally I'm not one to make a post about tasting notes/reviews. But, what the heck. Haven't seen anyone post about them and I've had em for a few days. Lets have at it. All dilutions at 6% in 70vg/30pg ratios. Sampled on a Mutation X4 mini with 24g ni80, 10 wraps over 3mm on a Truck PWM.

Sweet Tea > Scent

Straight out of the flavor bottle, sweet tea. Its not overly complex. Certainly reminds me of the Black Tea by TPA as well but its not nearly as floral/tea like. (See, not really great at this.) I wouldn't say it smells like sweet tea you'd get at a fast food chain/restaurant. Its not overly sweet. Balanced. > Flavor

Initial inhale brings the tea very strong, not much sweetness on the inhale. I wouldn't immediately call it the sweet tea that you would actually make/know from the south. But its not bad. If you're looking for a tea at all this is great without going super complex like black tea is. Exhale makes the tea VERY strong, kinda floral. But the sweetness starts to ring through. As it sits in your mouth/tongue the sweet really hits, this is the portion that you'd know as sweet tea. The floral/tea aspect starts to fall off. And overall it doesn't stick around. I could see this being a great mixer, and those of you that actually like tea could maybe have this as a single flavor. I'd be afraid to bump it up any more, it'd be a little too floral/earthy for me. > Rating

6/10 - Its not bad by any means, its accurate to what the name portrays. But it doesn't really wow me. For some reason I want to try adding marshmallow for the mouth feel.

Mojito Havana > Scent

Immediately blasted by alcohol, very strong. Personally I'm not a big drinker, mojitos aren't high on my list of choice. Scent alone leads me to believe this is a complex flavor. The sugary rum comes through once you get used to the alcohol. Mint is very subtle, but just the right amount. I can't smell the lime part of a mojito, but it certainly has the feel that lime gives, kinda that "dense lick your lips" type of feel. I also smell... coconut? I'm not sure, its not prevalent and it doesn't stick around. > Flavor

The alcohol almost goes entirely away. The inhale doesn't lend much, there's sweetness/sugary from the rum in it. Not overpowering at all. Through the exhale mint starts to lead through at just the right amount. Its more of a natural mint leaf, as if they were bruised/small amounts were used and not muddled for long. I can start to taste the lime as the exhale ends and the flavor is left on the palate. Kinda sticks to your mouth, you can place lime, rum, mint, and I still taste coconut... Overall, pleasant. Those of you looking for alcohol should be pleased. > Rating

7/10 - I don't know that I'll be making much out of it, but I get the feeling the mint would actually mix well. Nothing is overpowering. Solid pick.

Lemonade Cookie > Scent

I can immediately smell lemon, the sweetness/cookie lasts through all of it. It even has that "icing" cover that you'll find on the girl scout cookies. Its not actually icing, but maybe it is? Not much to write about this one, overall I have high expectations. > Flavor

Wow. Its hard to isolate an inhale flavor because its consistent all the way through. The cookie portion is light, its not dense by any means. And its certainly not your sugar/butter cookie dough. Makes me think of a moist version of those wedding cookies, without the cinnamon. Exhale really starts to bring the lemon, but its not really lemon. Its actually quite similar to lemonade. Not very tart, the sweetness really cuts the tart portion and smooths it out. I'm immediately thinking of adding this into lemon baked types of mixes. I wouldn't use it as the sole lemon, but mixed with a little Lemon Sicily... It doesn't linger on the palate, falls off rather quickly. 6% may not be enough here. > Rating

8/10 - A little higher % and it would be a great single flavor vape. Its not harsh by any means, and I could see this going in a lot of mixes. Very pleased.

Thin Mint Cookie (I've been looking for this forever.) > Scent

Spot on thin mint. Not much chocolate comes through on the smell, but you can tell its there. I can already tell I'm gonna love this. Already adding a larger amount to my next cart. The mint isn't weak, but its also not strong. I don't get that "menthol" sting at all. > Flavor

Chocolate comes in a whole lot more on the inhale. Coats your entire mouth and sticks. Already pleasantly surprised, its not bitter, its not overly sweet, its not a dark chocolate or a milk chocolate. You can feel the cooling sensation towards the end of the inhale. As you exhale the chocolate settles, its still present but the mint is much more clear. I wouldn't say a thin mint style, its much closer to a junior mint then a thin mint. Definitely not the peppermint of a york patty. This certainly sticks to your palate, the "cookie" part is almost present. I say ALMOST intently here. I really think they could've brought up the cookie part more. I really want to add CAP-Sugar Cookie to this. I'll be using this a lot, I can tell it'll be great as a mixer. Its not bad as a single flavor, but I don't know that I'll make much of this as a single flavor vape. I don't think it needs much though to make a really solid thin mint cookie. Maybe a little CAP - Double Chocolate, CAP - Sugar Cookie, just thinking out loud though. > Rating

8.5/10 - Its not "blowing me away", but its VERY good. Highly recommend. Though its very, very dark and makes me think of the dark graham cracker. Maybe once the MSDS is posted I'll be able to recommend more.

I'll also be doing a post on my love for CAP - Sugar Cookie soon. It's going into a ton my my mixes lately, its extremely versatile and overall a great mixer. Spoilers, it's used in my Geography - French Quarter clone. Though I'm still working on that, I'd say I'm 80-85% of the way there.

Don't sell yourself short; those are very good tasting notes! I really appreciate you sharing.

I've noticed with TFA's newer flavors she seems to be using more sweetener in the concentrate. All the new cereals, her meringue, etc – they all have a pretty high base sweetness level. Does that hold true for these as well?

The sweet tea itself could probably use a little additional sweetener when mixed. But I'm not sure I'd add any more to the rest of them. They're certainly sweeter then a lot of the older/more used flavorings, but none of then are overly/sickly sweetened.
