Heads up DiY - a new flavouring post from me coming today...

Sorry I haven't been around much and sorry I haven't posted a flavouring post in, what, over 2 weeks now? Been busy, but also been working on a few, including graham cracker, and the longest one yet: vanilla (codename: "it's not beaver farts"). I did a lot of extra research on this one and wanted to make sure I got my facts right before posting. I still have to check a few things (I've tried emailing a couple of the flavouring companies, for instance, to ask if they're using authentic vanilla in their flavourings and if so, what cultivar and source - none have replied :( :( I've emailed the Canadian dude from Flavour Art several times on several subjects, he never seems to answer emails, wah!)

If I don't get any answers by this afternoon, I'll just go ahead and post anyway.

It's going to be long. Vanilla is complex and deep. There'll be no TL:DR this time. It's not for 14 second attention spans. :) A warning: if any millennial out there bitches about how long this is, I will, I swear, punch them in the dick. ;)

In the meantime, I'm open to requests for future flavouring articles. I'd rather not do stuff like plain fruits (raspberry, peach etc) or bakery confectioneries (like cinnamon danish swirl) but it might be interesting to do something like cotton candy (I'd have to totally research that from scratch), or root beer (already know it's whole history) or things like that - so if you have a request, share it with me! :D

If you're open to additives, I'd love to see a write up on Acetyl Pyrazine, or Sour additives.

Otherwise, Horehound is widely underused. Or maybe some tropical fruit like pineapple, papaya, mango, guava, etc

Root Beer would be awesome as you mentioned. Maybe tea or coffee? They both have big histories and are hard to translate to vape.

I am really in love with these posts of yours, they appeal to the geek in me and I can appreciate the thoroughness with which you present the histories of these flavors. I am very excited for the Vanilla post and I would love it if the next one was Root Beer.

Edit: I'm with /u/ThirdWorldOrder on this one as well, I loooove Anise (I love me some good Anisette) so seeing one on that would be awesome.

Dulce de leche. Follows the cream theme, used in a variety of recipes, and also has a long history from various regions.

If I was going to request anything, I would have requested vanilla ... It's the main component in the recipe I've been working on which is so damn close!
