I've come to the point where on a typical day I'm vaping anywhere from 15-25mL's of juice. It's become a bit difficult to have juice always ready when needed. Either I have juice sitting around for long periods of time waiting to be vaped and slowly losing its flavor and nicotine strength, or I have juice that is to fresh to want to ruin by vaping before it has hit anywhere near its full potential. How do you guys deal with this?
I make all my juices 2 weeks in advance. Every Saturday I sit down and make 10 30ml bottles. I vape from 25-40 ml a day depending on stress level.
Oh man, you would be one poor mofo if you didn't do DIY. Just curious, how many different recipes do you use for your 10 bottles.
I make 4oz on Saturday of whichever ADV I'm closest to running out of, and depending on how long it needs to steep I'll work 1-3 bottles in advance. For example, Tundra takes about a week to really shine, so I have 1 bottle open and one in reserve. When the open bottle is almost empty I'll make a new one and everything else is rotated forward. I have a Root Beer that takes a little longer to come together, so stock on that one runs two bottles deep. I'm working on a Pear blend that may need even more (it's just so harsh right out of the mixer...).
I typically spend Sunday making 20-40ml batches of whatever recipe I'm "working on" for the week. If it looks like I'm going to run out of an ADV before I can replenish my stocks I'll switch to the "beta program" and vape out of that.
whats your root beer recipe if you don't mind sharing
A&W-style Root Beer recipe.
TFA Root Beer - 8%
TFA Wintergreen - 2%
TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - 2%
This needs to steep for about a week for the chemical taste to fade from the Root Beer flavoring. After that it snaps together to give you a creamy/sweet root beer experience.
I vape about 15-20ml a day. 3ml in the 45 minute car trip to work, about 5ml on my lunch break through the dripper, another 3ml in the car trip home, then about 5-10ml at home.
DIY is saving me a small fortune. Here in Australia that is about $25 a day haha.
500ml at a time. I picked up half a dozen bottles and flip top caps. I have two shake and vape recipes and the rest need age time. 500ml is easier to mix in my opinion and they last awhile.
Are you mixing by weight or using big graduated cylinders?
Mixing by volume not by weight for those large quantities.
Lately, I have been doing a lot of test batches of new recipes, I'm highly considering a scale for this. I'm so sick of the clean up.
The syringes are a headache for usage, cleanup, and mechanics of pulling from big bottles. This is what I'm using with the kit I got from Kidney Puncher. I'm glad that I got the kit, but I want to upgrade a bit for larger scale batches. I don't want to be making 10mL's twice a week.
I vape around 15-20 mills a day. I have about 3 ADV that I make in batches of 240MLs that I keep in mason jars. On top of that, ATM I have about 8 experimental vapes going on that I mix 30MLs of. It's a good way to make sure my good stuff ages, as well as my new stuff if it requires aging.
I make big batches and have 4 on the go at all times. (one subohm with grape soda, one subohm with whatever mint one I've recently made, 1 evod with whatever store bought stuff I have, and 1 more evod with strong nic incase I want it. I keep them in a coffee cup by me.
I've noticed that I've been vaping a lot more since I've been DIYing. Maybe because it's cheaper? I honestly have no idea. I honestly end up making about 120ml of juice every other week or so. Sometimes if I've been going hard on the juice I can't wait that long.
I typically make 60ml each of 2 different flavors and as I get more flavors and recipes I'll rotate which 2 I do.
Piggyback Question:
If you are making juice weeks in advance and in large batches, are you doing so by weight or using big graduated cylinders? I ask because I just stepped up from 5-10 mL bottles to 30mL's and the 10 mL syringe is horrible for filling VG even with 14g needle. And the print is rubbing off on the syringes after 3 weeks of doing small batches.
By weight. It's the only way to go.
I'm holding off on a scale at the moment. By the time I need more flavors and Nic, I will probably breakdown and buy a scale.
is % by weight noticably different that % by volume? I'm just curious if I'll need to adjust my mixes when I change.
You still do percent by volume, and then a good calculator will give you the weights.
You can hit the search bar for the weight per ml of VG / PG / and Nic base of various strengths, and then flavors are just based on 1g / ml
The third calculator in the side bar is really good for that.
I make juice for 7 people so i pretty much just much up large batches (120-150ml) and split them into 30's as often as i have time to. I've found with a high enough rate of production I can usually have my juices steep for 3-4 days before someone comes and snags one.
20ml a day. 30 if im having a stressful day or if im in tryhard game mode (gotta love nicotines ability to speed up the reflexes) Sunday is my diy day where ill make 600ml of whatever flavors im in the mood for at 60ml batches. This lasts me a good 2 weeks and i have a good 7-8 flavors to rotate to avoid tiring out my taste buds.
I go through 15-20ml per day.
I set aside some time on a weekend evening to mix. I mix by weight so the cleanup is painless. I purchase all my flavorings from Bull City Vapor so everything comes in dripper bottles.
I will mix 6-10 recipes once a week. My favorites I will mix at 50ml, things I like at 30ml, and new things to try at 10-15ml.
I always try to be 1-week ahead so everything has a full week of steeping time before I vape it.
http://e-liquid-recipes.com/ has an option to make a Flavor Base. So you mix all the flavors together, and just mix the flavor base at the original flavor % with PG/VG later.
For example I made 120mls of flavor base of my Key Lime Pie flavoring, which will make about 600ml of finished eliquid.
I make big bottles of 120 and they sit around. At any given point I have around 10-15 of those plus additional 2-3 bottles of additives like Mint, Menthol and Spearmint. That's just if I want to make something mentholy and stuff. I run through 40-50 ml a day plus my GF goes through like 15-20 ml too. Just make get some recipes that you like and make them all the time when you run low. I started making 3-4 bottles a week to stay in stock. If a flavor needs to steep, I'll make 2-3 bottles of it and put a propyl cone cap on it and stick in the drawer.
Seriously, how is it possible to go through that much per day? At most I can do 10 mL per day when gaming, that's max.
