Any redditors DIY selling their juice?
submitted almost 10 years ago by AnElepahntCage

Just out of curiosity. I am sure most of you guys make better tasting juices than the majority of ones you can buy elsewhere, and I would love to support a fellow redditor vapor.

Technically, I'm still DIY, just a slightly larger scale than most. :)

Heh, didn't we all start essentially at the DIY stage?

Can I be honest for a second? I probably would never have tried the Gremlin flavor line had you not offered it for DIY.

I'm absolutely in love with Blue and White Gremlin now so thanks for that!

I remember a year ago... If someone came on this sub and asked this, they were bombarded with "Don't be lazy" "just buy the stuff and do it.. cheaper in the long run"

Now it's just 50 people trying to pawn their juice off... jeez.

Pawn their juices? Like five pawns?

I hardly ever buy juice since getting into DIY. It was the logical jump for me once I got into sub-ohm and it just became to expensive to keep buying premiums. That being said, its certainly not for everyone. The majority of the vapers out there are going to buy their juice, not make it. I don't see the guys on here as pushing their lines as if this community is going to be a huge chunk of their sales. It's nice to see DIYers who have gotten to that point though. I think its more of a "Hey guys, I'm taking the plunge into taking my hobby commercial" more than advertising to us. I don't ever plan on making a business out of this, mainly because my juices are mediocre and I simply don't have the drive to take that leap, but it's cool to see people who sort of demystify the process of it.

I wasn't trying to say it's a bad thing or downplay people's accomplishments. I just remember when I joined this sub a little over a year ago the mentality was completely different.

When someone would even mention trying to buy juice from a DIYer they got yelled at basically. Now there's a bunch of people who seem to be trying to make a quick buck. Just funny to see the shift in this going from a hobby to a lot people trying to profit off of it.

This is one of the reasons why I won't advertise my line on reddit. I'm not in it to make a buck or to reap in profits. I'm in it so I can share my DIY creations with others and essentially break even while allowing myself to vape for free and continue making new flavors. My line is only available to friends and family for this exact reason. I have been proudly vaping for 3 months without touching any of my personal funds and have not pocketed any of the money I've made - instead I've used it to research and develop new flavors and/or donated to advocacy.

Ever since I've started making juice a few months ago I've had people that wanted to buy it. I'm not trying to run a business but it's nice to have some pocket change from selling it. I sell people 30ml for $8 and 60ml for 15$ and a lot of people in my town don't really know about buying juice online so they are forced to buy from smoke shops for about $22/30ml so to most people I know, I have the best juice/price ratio. On a good week I'll make like $50 from selling some. I have a whole menu for people and let people know when I have new diy mixes

At $400/yr you have to report earnings as an income producing hobby.

Haha awwww shiiiiit...

But seriously, FA is crazy good. Only have two (?) retail juices using FA at the moment. Shame they take literally 3 weeks to dispatch :/

Also brought in some INW, which is also amazing. If people haven't tried Malina (Raspberry), they are missing out. And they only take like 3 days to ship, which is cool, too.

He also sells pre-made concentrates that are really great. Pleasing peanuts is fucking fire and awesome apple pie is fantastic. So if you're ever feeling lazy, and want something easy to mix that is miles better than MBV, go with GGG

I've only made 2 flavors so far, let some of my buddies try them, and they loved them.

I only go out of my way to offer a free bottle. 3 of them have offered to pay me 10 bucks for 1 30ml bottle.

I told them that it costs me little to nothing, and that I can give away juice and still save money compared to buying it.

They offered 10 bucks for a 30ml.

I told them I'll give them 2 30ml for 10 just to humor them.

It's kinda nice.

by ChemicalBurnVictimalmost 10 years ago

I used to give a lot away just because. But then it was getting to be a bit of a hassle because I would run out of juice before my next order came in. Then I would be out of luck. So I charge 10 for 50 ml. Tried to get one guy set up to DIY himself, but he ended up going back to smoking. So now he is a loyal customer.

I've done work for /u/level_up_vapor and got paid for some of it in juice. It's my favourite. I can't buy this kind of thing in stores here. I don't know what kind of sorcery he uses, but it's really good stuff.

Website coming soon :)

I do, I just don't like to advertise my juice line on reddit. Kinda still in friends and family mode but with all the business requirements in place (business license, functional website, etc.)

I sell to friends and family locally and have a website for those that aren't local or are just too far to meet up with to break even that's about it. I don't really want the headache of running a business.

Hehe I'm going to scour this thread for some affordable juice

1 points

by VaporBoxUkalmost 10 years ago

Its something me and some close friends are trying to do. I have started a thread on it at https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/3pdwz1/plug_help_us_turn_our_passion_for_diy_into_a/

But it seems I perhaps should have reworded my explanation much better as I am receiving a lot of down votes.

I guess what I was trying to ask is how many others have done it and what advice they had.

Define DIY?

I started making juice for myself, then my friends and family wanted it, then their friends. Then a few redditors.

I'm two months in to a full blown business. It's been crazy.

by kcaj140almost 10 years ago

Personally still getting a website together and looking at all the other small things, also working on different flavors and looking into payment methods. Best of luck to all out there doing the same.

1 points

by goatnapperalmost 10 years ago

I sell to friends and family ($5 / 30 ml), but it's mainly single flavor stuff. They don't care for anything fancier.

1 points

by ChemicalBurnVictimalmost 10 years ago

I sell to a couple guys at work. Fuckers owe me $30. I usually let them pay on pay day though.

1 points

by Skikaalmost 10 years ago

Yeah, I sell to friends only though. So far it seems like I make between 40-100 a week selling at $5/30ml. I've got four solid flavors, two of which are apparently "crack". I mixed 520ml of juice tonight for people, so that's kinda cool. My girlfriend was irritated though.

1 points

by EaseDelalmost 10 years ago

TBF you could add

My girlfriend was irritated though.

at the end of any statement most the time and it will hold true

2 points

by Skikaalmost 10 years ago

True! She ended up being happy though. I mixed her a 120ml bottle of her favorite juice and then drilled it home before we went to bed. It's amazing how that can fix so much.

I know one person that vapes. So most likely ill hook him up if my DIY doesn't turn out like trash. Much like bootleg movies, word of mouth will pick up and ill go from there.
