Currently have a mix with tpa strawb... thinking ripe migt be better wqas hoping you pros would know better.
Here's some notes I have on just strawberry and pear together. I use a few of these as just a "base" of sorts to mess around with to add an extra flavor or two, or using alone. The good thing is, pear and strawberry are really flexible to work with. Excluding FA Pear, since you didn't mention if you have it (get it):
4% FA Strawberry, 3% TFA Pear
5% CAP Sweet Strawberry, 2% TFA Pear
10% TFA Strawberry Ripe, 4% TFA Pear
5% TFA Strawberry Ripe, 1% TFA Strawberry, 2.5% TFA Pear
6% TFA Organic Strawberry, 2% CAP Sweet Strawberry, 2% TFA Pear
6% CAP Sweet Strawberry, 2% TFA Strawberry, 1.5% TFA Pear
Hope that helps!
Brilliant thank you, no fa pear yet but I'll add it to my next order for sure. Will trya few of these out... really am just aiming for a simple strawberry and pear at the moment, and maybe something to make them pop.. I've read cactus is good for that so another added to the shopping list i think.
Yeah, Cactus is good at .5-1%. Anything more and it gets that green/floral note. You could also try .5% FA Marshmallow instead of Cactus to get the fuller-bodied "fluffy" feel without adding more fruit taste. TFA Apricot at around 1% adds a nice "hidden" layer as well.
I was literally thinking this morning that strawberry/pear would be a great combo. Guess I have something to do after work :)
They're two very easy flavors to work with. I haven't really found a combination that is unusable, as long as it's not like 13% Pear, 15% Strawberry or something. Usually I like the strawberry at a higher percentage than the pear, but some recipes are better vice versa.
Nice notes man. I need to get some pear myself. I'm trying to basically do the same right now, but with juicy peach and strawberry. I love strawberry, so I have Capella's version, and TFA regular and ripe. Just trying to get a good combo locked in. Might use some of your notes here, but substitute pear for juicy peach. Not sure how that's gonna work though.
This clone of Placid uses TPA:
- 4% Pear (TPA)
- 4% Strawberry (TPA)
- 4% Honeysuckle (TPA)
- 1% Cold Pressed Lime (FA)
This recipe (actually his slightly revised version) has been in my rotation since I started DIY. I tried TFA pear 2.5% and INW pear 1% and it added a bit of depth to the pear I think was missing before, plus it takes it one step closer to the fact that Adirondack has stated there are 4 different flavor manufacturers in Placid.
You should try
TFA Honeydew 7% TFA Strawberry ripe 5% TFA Pear 3%
Doesn't the honeydew totally overpower the strawberry and pear? TFA honeydew is very strong in my experience. I usually use 2-3% and even then it's right in my face.
Some of my favorite flavors to play with, so many combos you can use, and then add apricot to the mix,,,,sooo tasty
Still my go to ADV is the Honey Peary clone
I call it Katies Pears
I am actually working on these flavors as a base to add to various creams
