Flavors that add or reduce throat hit
submitted almost 10 years ago by OGs2000

In my couple years of experiencing with different flavors in DIY, I noticed that flavors play an important role of throat hit. For example, White Peach and Meringue to name a few, tend to give me a harsh throat hit, even at 3mg. On the other hand, flavors like FA coconut, and certain creams will make a juice very smooth to vape. Another example is FW skittles. I messed around and made a recipe with it last week. The flavor is ok, but at 3mg it had the smoothest throat hit out of any juices I've ever made. Hopefully people more experienced than I am can chime in. What "flavors" , in your experience, have added or reduced throat hit in your final recipe?

Peach is a big throat hitter.

So is lime, I've found. Some apples can be, and some bananas can be too (I think the banana is due to the ethyl alcohol in the flavouring)

I've found the same result with every peach that I've vaped, which sucks because I love peach. Have you ever encountered a fruit flavor that smooths out a recipe? I've found mostly FA to be harsh, Tfa and Cap are midranged, and FW has a light ( smooth ) throat hit. Of course it would vary by flavor

I've found it to be very subjective, and also sometimes a transient issue/benefit. Different lots of the same flavouring can vary, and I think I've also developed a "tolerance" to the throat hit of some flavourings.

If you want to add throat hit, you can experiment with alcohol. A few drops of a nice quality vodka, whiskey, simple PGA, or any spiritous liquor that doesn't contain a lot of sugars will do the trick. Just use it in moderation, and don't try to abuse it to get drunk from it. There are some hazards involved with that, but it's fine in small amounts as a flavouring adjunct.

Many citrus flavours seem to have more throat hit than others from my experience. Also, not sure of just my bottle but Cap Banana has a mega throat hit.

On top of that, Kandi Hed flavour brand from Just Vape 24/7 in UK all have a strong throat hit from what I tried to the point where I just stopped even trying them anymore.

This may not be accurate, but in my opinion I think darker colors are harsher. Like I said this may not be at all correct , just my two cents.
