Journey of making a juice with Acai as a main flavor.
submitted almost 10 years ago by KrillinGetsOwned

So, i thought that it would be fun to go together through a process of making a delicious juice, from start to finish. Along the way i will document my findings, write down my flavor notes, and hypothesize on the next iteration of the recipe. So, lets begin. With my previous shipment of flavors I had thrown in a bottle of TPA Acai. On my first smell test i immediately found this flavor fascinating and very rich. So i knew i had to make something out of it. I mixed some up to take flavor notes.

  • Acai 6%

This is pretty interesting. Testing in a dripper, with wicks overly saturated, you get this full, round, almost blueberry smoothie type of flavor. Tastes of dark berries, tart raspberry, and all round goodness. Extremely full-bodied for a berry. As the wick goes down to normal saturation, the flavor changes. It looses some of it's juiciness, and gains an intense dark undertone. Notes of dark chocolate appear. Some flavor pairings come to mind, Pomegranate could play quite well with this, as it shares some of the same high notes.

  • Acai TPA 4%, Pomegranate TPA 5%

Not much changes in the overall flavor profile, subtle changes to high and low notes. Now remains juicy throughout the whole vape, as the dark note is no longer as pronounced. It's still there, but it's much more "doable". Pomegranate brings a bit of sourness to the mix, making it a more rounded flavor. Delicious as is, but we need to take this to the next level.

  • Up next

While taking notes on the acai and pomegranate mix, couple of flavor pairings come to mind, depending on where i want to take this. For a fresher vape lime and/or anis come to mind, to sit in contrast to the dark and full berry flavors. The other option is to complement them even further with dark chocolate, milk, or other bakery flavors.

Any input is appreciated, let's create an awesome juice together! I truly believe in the power of Acai, it is such a unique and delicious flavor. I will be posting my progress if people are interested in this type of thing, let me know.

I'm very interested in becoming a part of this. I'll order acai tomorrow. I think you used WAY too much pom. I could taste it overpower my strawberries and cream at 3% (I felt like seeing if I could make the pom add a few decent notes)

Perhaps. Without having prior experience with pom, i just referenced e-liquid-recipes to see the average people were mixing it at. Acai seems to be doing a damn fine job masking it though :D

Maybe I would do 1-2% blueberry (TFA)? What type of flavor are you looking for. What notes are you trying to add to the acai? I personally love acai so I'll be doing the same. Have you tried 3-4%?

Blueberry could give the body a bit more kick, however tpa blueberry being such a weak flavor, i don't think that would do much. Perhaps FA Bilberry? As for my goals, I don't have a clear vision. I want to make something that breaks away from the mold of strawberry milks and cereals. Not that there is anything wrong with them, i just want to see something different. That's why i think acai is perfect for this, it is by now means your average berry flavor.

How do you guys feel this would pair with a black currant?

Probably will, it's also a dark berry flavor and I see no reason why it would not pair

Hi there!

I'm new to DIY, and never tried Acai in a recipe. I have a bottle of TPA Pomegrante still intact, and was planning on trying it solo first, but your post inspired me to try with Acai.

I think your on a good route, and starting from the pomegrenate point, in conjunction with something that was posted on another thread, you may try this: "Pomegranate pairs well with: apple, citrus, cucumber, mint, tropical fruit". All the other berries that are mentioned in the list seem go well with citric tones and tropical fruits sweetness.

Full list is here: http://nouveauraw.com/raw-recipe-templates-and-development/flavor-prfiles-that-pair-well-in-recipes/

HTH Cheers

Give it a shot! we'll see where this takes us. Right now if i were to enjoy those two together, i would probably drop acai to 3%. As i said atm pomegranate doesn't really shine through. this however might change with a steep, i tried the mix fresh.

Since i am yet to find a good cucumber, i think i might skip that one (they all taste like bug repellent to me). FA Fuji could work quite well and bring some freshness to the mix at lower percentages, might try it at 0.5%

My favorite juice from my local b&m has a flavor profile of apple, pomegranate, and acai. It was the very first juice I attempted to clone (just last week, actually) and I nailed it on the first try.

TFA Apple 5%
TFA Pomegranate 5%
TFA Acai 5%

Cap Grapefruit or TFA Hypnotic go really good with Acai. Don't need much, maybe 2%.

Grapefruit sounds like an awesome addition, i'll try to get my hands on some!

I ordered Acai on a whim and my initial impression was that it tasted like grape jelly. It's also a very strong flavor that will overtake everything including pomegranate until a few days have passed, depending on % used. I was trying to come up with a nice triple dark berry flavor and settled on this:

Flavor | % ---|--- TFA Blueberry Wild| 10% TFA Acai | 1% TFA Pomegranate Deluxe | 3% TFA Vanillin | 5% Total | 19%

Mixed @ max VG and left to steep for 2-3 days.

BB Wild is a super weak flavor, but it's nice when you get enough of it, so I have it at 10%. As I mentioned Acai is strong and can take over if you're not careful, so putting it at 1% gives you the flavor but lets other stand out. Pomegranate Deluxe has a similar effect, but it adds a nice sour note so we want it to be present at least. The vanillin just helps to smooth everything out and give a nice mellow vanilla note.

If you try it let me know what you think and if you have any notes.

I also find acai to be extremely strong flavor. I'll see what I mix up next, but dropping the percentage is a must.

I can tell you that at 1% it's still the star of the show, just not "standing on the head of the other actors to stand out" star.

As others have stated, Acaí is strong as fuck. Try 3% by itself. TFA Pom sucks. Get their Deluxe, which I haven't tried but have heard good things about. Or get FA's Pomegranate. It's good as shit.

Don't ruin Acaí with FA Bilberry. TFA's blueberries are also weak as hell so I highly suggest getting FLV blueberry.

I also got TFAs Acai flavor a week ago, the smell is pretty nice and fascinating, first thing comes to my mind was blueberry, more of a blueberry main flavor and acai as the supporting flavor.
