8% kiwi double 4% strawberry Both TFA shake and vape I love this simple strawberry kiwi

by Venterinoover 9 years ago

Dammit, I hope less people recommend strawberry, as I can't taste it and I hate my taste buds for it.

2 points

by jeffulyaover 9 years ago

Do you not taste strawberry when making your own, or only when purchasing strawberry juices? I found that ones I purchased weren't nearly as strawberry intense as the ones you can make yourself. I followed a super simple recipe of 6% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust and 10% TFA Ripe Strawberry. That one had a very pronounced strawberry flavor, while a juice I bought simply didn't.

by o0turdburglar0oover 9 years ago

I'm not OP, and my situation might be different... but TFA Strawberry has always tasted like a nursing home to me. It's like I have a 'blind spot' in my palate.

Even before I was DIY'ing I noticed it with commercial juices, and narrowed it down to 'some strawberry flavor' - later I realized it is specifically TFA Strawberry.. not ripe, not any other vendor.. just that one specific flavoring. The longer it steeps, the worse it gets.

It sucks because it's such a popular flavoring in the DIY community.

1 points

by Venterinoover 9 years ago

Honestly I don't remember, I don't think I could taste commercial juice either. I couldn't quit with my nautilus when I vaped commercial but when I got my current setup I immediately got into DIY, that was a few months ago. Only strawberry I've tried is TFA regular and I can't taste anything no matter the percentage.

Really sucks because I love strawberries in everything else.

by PinheadXover 9 years ago

have you tried using Capella's Sweet Strawberry? I find that even people who have issues tasting strawberry can taste it in my mixes when I use it.

1 points

by Venterinoover 9 years ago

Not yet, when I wasn’t able to taste TFA strawberry it kinda turned me off strawberries altogether. I was planning on ordering it though.

1 points

by dbbldz123over 9 years ago

interesting... it's probably not your tastebuds but your olfactory receptors. Wonder if you could be partially anosmic to whatever common aroma is being used in these strawberry flavoring mixes.

by o0turdburglar0oover 9 years ago

I'm a noob, so my list isn't very long yet, but...

  • Rhodonite (IMO the best of /u/enyawreklaw's offerings, and I've tried most of them. Super delicious.)
  • Perpetual Check
  • Sugar Bear (with my morning coffee)
  • Nannner Bear (not a terribly accurate clone, but I'm addicted to the OG and can't afford that shit.)

Still trying to come up with a replacement for the last commercial juice I can't stop vaping... Ice Kiss from Ahlusion - like a vanilla peppermint with a bit of cream. Once I get that done, I'll be off of commercial juice forever.

by ThirdWorldOrderover 9 years ago

Try this one with your morning coffee

2 points

by NotCharlesMansonover 9 years ago

Shit! I forgot all about this. I mean to PM you a while back when you sent me this. While it's not a spot-on clone, it's fucking delicious.

1 points

by ThirdWorldOrderover 9 years ago

Yeah I still haven't had the original yet-- none of the B&M's near my house sell Cutwood stuff. Every time I go online to order Sugar Bear, I end up getting distracted and end up with another $100 worth of random flavorings instead

Weird man, every time I've made the Unicorn Milk "leak" I've thought "shit man, I just want to take out the strawberry and vape graham crackers and cream" but I haven't had time to experiment with percentages.

You the man.

1 points

by o0turdburglar0oover 9 years ago

That looks good, I'll give it a shot.

Am hesitant about the coffee pairing, I needs mah cinnamon for that. Maybe the graham will fill in that requirement.

1 points

by ThirdWorldOrderover 9 years ago

You could always add more CDS/Graham or add cinnamon roll if you feel it needs it. I'd try it like this first though

1 points

by macKdittyover 9 years ago

I grabbed all those flavors but ordered CAP Butter on accident. This sounds really good, so I'd like to give it a try with a sub, what does CAP Butter Cream taste like exactly? I have some sweet creams and I have plenty of CAP Butter to experiment with, lol.

0 points

by ThirdWorldOrderover 9 years ago

Butter cream is an odd flavor but it won't make/break any recipe. Here's a post which has a pretty good description of it.

>Butter Cream

>So i'm trying the Butter Cream right now... It's interesting. i'll do my best to describe it and see if it's useful. I'm vaping it standalone at 6%. Honestly tastes like straight up butter. You know that smell of smell of butter when you melt it, it's kind of like sour almost? That's what it tastes like to me.

>NOT a good standalone vape that's for sure, percentage might be too high as well. Good flavor at 6% but not in-your-face. Could definitely see some use to this in a complex recipe, but not as a main feature unless you just love butter.

>It's butter. Best way to explain it. Very good mouthfeel to it as well, it coats your entire mouth.

You could try to replicate butter cream although I'm not sure how close it would be. I'd probably start somewhere in the neighborhood of +1% VBIC & +0.5% Butter

when you get that vanilla peppermint cream nailed, please post it. I used to chew this gum a few years ago that was peppermint vanilla and I loved it.

1 points

by o0turdburglar0oover 9 years ago

Will do.

I plan on starting to work on it this weekend. I've never made my own 'complex' recipe before, so wish me luck!

Since I'm a noob at it, it will be nice to have some feedback on it.

I just started mixing last week! I feel you. I've made two recipes so far and am working on a coconut macaroon as we speak.

by IllustratedMannover 9 years ago

I love peppermint. I really like a few simple recipes.

10% Mint Candy (TFA)

Or

8% Peppermint (Cap or TFA) 8% Vanillin (TFA) (Optional) 4% Toasted Marshmallow (just gives it a little creamier texture.)

2 points

by SenorPierreover 9 years ago

I have the TFA Peppermint and a few Vanilla's.. TFA swirl, custard, Bavarian cream, sweet cream. would any of those work okay?

Is that 5% Cinnamon Ceylon seriously not too much, after steeping? In the Perpetual Check clone.

2 points

by o0turdburglar0oover 9 years ago

IMO it's not.

I've tried other recipes where it was way overpowering at even lower 1.3% (specifically this)

I'm not sure what the deal is, but even at 5% the main note is the fig. I assume some kind of reaction with another ingredient(s) toning down the ceylon. I was thinking maybe it was either the cream or the sweetener, but I have no idea.

No one who I've talked to that tried that recipe thought it was overpowering though.

1 points

by r0guez0mbieover 9 years agoMixologist

Cool thank you. Yes, then it probably is the rest of it tuning it down. I saw that recipe, but was a bit wary... and then forgot about it. I LOVE Perpetual Check, so I should probably give it a go then.

1 points

by PalefaceVaperover 9 years ago

Wow, that sugar bear clone is completely different than mine.... Like, not even a singled shared ingredient. Never really had sugar bear though (I know, I hate when someone talks about a clone and then tells you they've never tried the real thing before).

Is the cinnamon in the original really "in your face" profile?

1 points

by o0turdburglar0oover 9 years ago

I've never had it either :\

I just like it because it's a sweet bakery cinnamon, somewhere between a cinnamon roll and cinnamon toast crunch cereal. Goes well with coffee.

What recipe are you using?

1 points

by PalefaceVaperover 9 years ago

I was using one Wayne randomly threw out during a DIY or Die podcast \ radio show. Can't remember the recipe as in not at my PC, but it didn't have any cinnamon in it... That's for sure.

Funfetti is by far my favorite. I love Tenacious Toast by Simply E-Juice, it's the same thing as Bear Claw by Fog Dog so I ordered the stuff to make Cinnamon Danish Medley and Cinapple Fritter by returnity, I really hope one of those delivers so I can start making it and stop buying it.

Funfetti

Tongue Fuck

Cereal Milks

Holy shit, returnity's Apple Fritter is just wonderful. I add the 1% FA Apple Pie and lose the almond. Deeelightful.

6 points

by Botboy141over 9 years agoGunner's Gold Gourmet E-Juice

Ba'nana Cream
Awesome Apple Pie (the second version with FLV Rich Cinnamon is hands down the best, lower the cinnamon to your liking (some prefer ~0.1%, others are fine with it @ 0.3%)
The Ultimate Crunch Berry Cereal
Rockin Razzberry (swap the raspberries for INW Lemon Concentrate and FA Lemon Sicily for a Lemon Sorbet instead)

All 4 of these are in my daily rotation.

2 points

by McHairpieover 9 years ago

I ordered HS banana a few weeks ago just to try your ba'nana cream recipe. It came in and I completely forgot why I got it. Now I remember. Lol.

1 points

by ThirdWorldOrderover 9 years ago

You should at some point come and rate your own recipe. I'm going to add your other ones later. BTW, how is rockin razzberry without the menthol?

1 points

by Botboy141over 9 years agoGunner's Gold Gourmet E-Juice

It's just fine without. It's really just in there to cool it down a little. You could swap for a bit of koolada instead if you prefer, or just leave it out entirely.

1 points

by o0turdburglar0oover 9 years ago

Can you shed a little light on when/why to use koolada vs menthol and vice-versa?

I know koolada adds less chemical flavor, so as a newbie I am wondering if there's a situation where menthol is better.

I notice that razzberry recipe uses both, what's the deal there?

1 points

by mourningshadowover 9 years ago

Man, that Crunch Berry is really good. I loaded it up after about 10 days of steeping and it actually tricks my brain into thinking I am drinking sugary milk. I didn't like it at first but after going back to it this may be my current favorite vape.

1 points

by Botboy141over 9 years agoGunner's Gold Gourmet E-Juice

Yeah it definitely requires at least a one week steep and just gets better the longer it sits. The oldest bottle I have here at the moment is coming up on 2 months and it's just super duper yummy.

Carnage Clone Replace FA strawberry with TFA Strawberry Ripe @ 4%

Placid Clone I upped both Key Lime and Lime Tahiti to 0.75% each.

Strawberry Astronaut

Blueberry Custard (Mashup from two different redditors)

You're welcome. Added links to two of three and adding a fourth. The blueberry custard will have to wait until I get home for correct percentages lol.

2 points

by onmywaydownnowover 9 years agoMixologist

Hey thats my placid clone (:

I think you are right and the limes need to go up a tiny bit. I also think that maybe some sweetener. I have an order of placid coming and will test against it again when it gets here. Glad you like it!

1 points

by Chrononaughtover 9 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Yeah, it's very close. Almost indistinguishable to the OG Placid. The limes @ 0.5 were a little underwhelming and @ 0.75 it helps a bit.

Thanks for the clone! :)

2 points

by onmywaydownnowover 9 years agoMixologist

NP I'll try and up it next time around too I think you are right. I was trying to lower the pear but maybe upping the lime.

Have you tried adding like .1 .2% INW kaktus? I think it might help with the floral notes.

Which Muffin Man clone do you make?

2 points

by SCReVACover 9 years agoOne of "The Damned"

The super ezymode one:

2.25% Fuji Apple FA
2.5% Cinnamon Roll FW

You can just mess around with the ratios though, and almost anything you decide to add (creams/pear/dragonfruit/almond etc) just enhance it more.

1 points

by macKdittyover 9 years ago

Awesome Apple Pie sounds really good, do you have a link to the one you use?

That is the best custard I have tried... Incredible mix

1 points

Same here, and strangely enough it takes very little time to steep for a custard IMO. I usually only let it sit for a day after mixing and it's tasty enough to vape.

I tried this but I subbed tfa marshmallow at 2.5%. I was disappointed. How critical would you say FA marshmallow is?

1 points

by NotCharlesMansonover 9 years ago

I think the FA marshmallow really gives it the..fluffiness?..it needs. For my taste, TFA marshmallow just seems to make it too sweet and brings out the cookie too much. Again, that's just for me. You may just be disappointed with this mix either way. Different folks, different taste buds, as the old adage goes.

2 points

That's the problem isn't it, always more flavors. I just spent $80 and now I'm browsing Bull City again.

I can FINALLY consider my daily rotation as all DIY! Although, these remaining "premium" juices are left over and may wind up in the trash.

-Blackout in my Zephyrus

This thread is full of links to clone recipe gold. Nice work.

Highly recommend Funfetti and other recipes on /u/enyawreklaw's site diyordievaping.com. It might be posted elsewhere here. Several flavors show up in a few of those, good flavors to keep on hand.

Anything botboy recommends is probably bomb. Saving this thread for future reference.

How accurate is that ARN clone?

I've been wanting to try it, but I'd have to purchase a lot of flavors I probably won't use for anything else.

2 points

by Fortinbrazover 9 years ago

It's probably as close as we can get, even /u/_bombies said that at least one ingredient was correct and at the proper ratio. /u/_bombies has previously stated that it is like 10 flavorings or something like that, so an exact match is improbable. But ARN was one of my vendor ADV's and this cmes close enough to replace it.

Yeah, hopefully he'll follow through with open-sourcing the recipe since he's retiring the juice due to high diketone levels. Sounded like he was open to the idea.
