Before you guys get out your pitchforks, yes, i used the searchbar.
im a noob at DIY. I love Vape Flakes, by breakfast club (ruthless), and i wanted to recreate it. I have tasted other frosted flakes flavors (telios & aisle 7). nothing comes close to ruthless. To clarify, Vape Flakes has a much fuller "corn" flavor. it does not have the "crispy" flavor or the cereal though (which is fine by me).
Anyways, i found this & this when searching. they both seem unsure & havent posted results of their tests (i stalked their profiles). has anyone had any Frosted flakes success?
side Questions;
-
I see that Acetyl Pyrazine is mentioned as an ingredients in both posts. How does this fit into the "corn flakes" flavor profile?

I should try not to use EM as the sweetening base, right? from my understanding, it isnt really a sweetener. Is Meringue or Marshmallow considered a sweetener?
I would have no idea on where to start on this. please help.
EDIT: after speaking to a few people on this thread & in PM. I realized that i might be shooting a little high on this one. i think ill ~~just break into Ruthless' labs & steal the recipe. anyone want anything while im in there?~~ just keep at it until i get it right...
I just happened to put in an order last night to try my hand at something like Frosted Flakes. I'm going to start with popcorn flavoring and probably Capella sweet cream/VBIC and see where that gets me. Might use some frosting flavors as well. Never used popcorn flavoring before so this could be a beautiful disaster.
To answer your questions, the best sweetener would be just straight up sweetener. Marshmallow isn't actually all that sweet and is more of a mouthfeel flavor.. although FA Marshamllow can get somewhat sweeter than the others -- I probably still wouldn't use it.
FA meringue might be useful.. people use that to try and emulate the sugary milk in cereals.
thanks for the response.

hmm, i never thought to add popcorn... i wonder how much diacetyl is in it. meh... still better than smoking.

Which sweetener would you recommend, because i dont have any & would need to order.
TFA Sweetener or Capella Supersweet. They are both sucralose. I'd give a slight edge to TFA Sweetener though since more people use it.
As far as popcorn and Diacetyl is concerned.. I'd assume that custards and like flavors would have more since I thought popcorn lung was actually caused by the butter flavoring and not the popcorn itself. Also, Capella doesn't add any diacetyl to their flavors and TFAs popcorn flavoring I'm sure has a component list posted on the website
crappy, that post was flake I. Try my recently posted Flake 8 which has been my ADV for more than a week, and pretty "frosted flakey".
Adding a very small bit of meringue makes it seem even more like Frosted flakes, although I'm not headed in that direction anymore.
I plan on refining this more, but I'm not inspired to do so just yet, I'm enjoying this one too much.
aah, i was looking for "frosted flakes", when i should have been looking for the juice names...
anyways, Telios is less sweet than Vape flakes, but it does have that "full" flavor that im looking for. do you think i can add a drop more Sweetener to the mix? or will it mess everything up?
Yes, you could amp up the sweet with this, it will hold up to candy levels (especially with that meringue addition), but I suggest you sample it for a week first, and then add additional sweetness.
It handles backend sweetening well (I tested) and you may like it where it is. It also sweetened up a bit as it aged.

Was that you in cuttwood a while back? cuttwoodSpy?
OoO has a speckled flakes concentrate that tastes just like Frosted Flakes. I have a concentrate from Steam spirit vapors as well that is just like the real deal.

details pls?
OoO is cheaper but seems less concentrated. Steam spirit is expensive as hell. Both good. Smells like a box of freshly opened Frosted Flakes and you can taste the toasted corn and sweetness.
Maybe try kettle corn (TPA) 5% and Acetyl Pyrazine 1% for your corn flake then 3% marshmallow and 1% (TPA) brown sugar. Just a thought in the dark !
got kettle corn on the way too. hopefully it works well
I just posted this: It's the best one I've made so far:
