For those of you who like a nice sour lemon kick, I accidentally made a recipe that tastes almost identical to lemonheads. this is now my fiance's favorite all day vape flavor. You can vape it right away, it's only been a day so I'm not sure if steeping will make a difference but I'm sure itll smooth it out.
- 8% Watermelon (TFA)
- 6% Lemonade (LA)
- 4% Sweet and Tart Candy (TFA) -OPTIONAL
- If you used lemon juice or wrote it down please note that of was a noobish mistake to put it in the recipe, I apologize.
let me know what you think! Sweet tart is optional. IMO it adds sweetness with a zing and without having to add EM. You could try 2% or drops even.
Can you use just any ole lemon juice? Which one in particular are you using?
You should probably use citric acid for a similar effect with no sugars.
I do have citric and malic, I've just never used more than 1% and never noticed a real difference in "zing" if you will.. I can see how they both mute flavors since that's happened to me even at 1%, butttt I'm desperate for that authentic lemonhead zing lol
That's a super interesting find with the watermelon as a primary flavoring, but I totally see it working. I'm going to mix it up next time I'm at the bench.
I would avoid using actual lemon juice though...most of those you'd find in the store contain preservatives you likely don't want to vape.
New comment so you'll see the update.
So you're on to something here; I'm impressed! I am a sucker for citrus vapes, especially lemon, though :-p
As it sits, I think the TFA Sweet and Tart is too apparent at 4%. That could be a personal thing; the allyl-hexanoate in the flavoring gives the liquid a pineapple nuance I don't care for. It's also a bit to...artificial...for my palate. I do think it's essential for the candy effect, however, so next time I make it I'll just drop the percentage.
The TFA Watermelon, specifically, combined with lemon really does produce a great lemon candy flavoring. Super interesting find!
I did make a modification. I don't endorse vaping lemon juice (either store-bought or fresh squeezed). You don't want the preservatives or sugar. So, I didn't use lemon juice. At first I made the recipe simply omitting the lemon juice but the lemon from LA Lemonade alone was a little weak. I popped in some INW Lemon (~1%, I just eyeballed it after the fact) and it really kicked things up.
I'm curious what drove you to pursue watermelon as a base flavor here. Did you start off attempting to make some other candy or was "lemonhead" always the goal?
Yeah I learned my lesson the hard way about the lemon juice! I've just been noting every trial and error in my note book and learning one step at a time. Can't wait to try your mustard milk once I get my next shipment in! Btw, do you suggest still using LA lemonade? I really thought it had that lemonhead note. I do plan on trying HS-lemomade at 2-3% and getting some INW in the next week for the lemonades I make as well.
