We are no longer accepting applications.
Due to the overwhelming response, the application process is now closed. Huge thanks to all of you that applied, and for all the feedback both positive and negative. We really appreciate the interest this has generated. If you want to be kept in the loop and get a special discount when our product is publicly available, leave us your email at the same link here.
Hey, fellow DIY-eJuicers. I’m excited to announce that after an extensive development process, my partners and I are getting close to launching a brand-new vaping system. Our objective was to design a device that gives a “hobbyist” level vaping experience with no hassle or effort required. That means big cloud, organic cotton vaping – but without building coils, wicking, rebuilding tanks, mixing, dripping, etc. We have developed a device, called the Digirette, which uses closed disposable tanks and we are confident we’ve achieved our goals with this device. Users snap a tank into the battery unit, wait a few seconds for the wick to saturate, and have 5 ml of juice and a high mAh battery to enjoy a full day of vaping.
So… before our product launch, we are looking for 100 beta-testers (called the Dig100) to use the device for two weeks on a regular basis, and fill out a survey at the end of two weeks detailing your experience. The selected applicants will get a starter device kit and 10 extra tanks of various flavors at the user’s preferred nicotine strength, which is about a $100 value, for free.
The DIY-ers here are probably not our primary market, but I do think there might be a few of you interested, and even more importantly, I think you know someone who could use this device. It might be a friend, a relative, a co-worker, but you know somebody who wants to stop smoking but has found vaping to be either unsatisfactory (using cig-alikes or similar devices) or too much of a hassle. The Digirette is the solution for that person, and we’d like them to be a part of our trial.
All of you are welcome to apply, and we’d really appreciate if you could share this link with that person who really could use it as well. If you are not willing to put aside your regular vape to get through at least 7 or 8 tanks in that period, please let others apply. Also remember that we are only accepting 100 beta testers, but everyone who fills out the application will receive a discount code for a starter kit once we launch, whether you are selected for the Dig100 or not.
If you are interested in the application, here is the link. Thanks!
Signed up. Would love to be able to recommend a product to smokers that want a hassle free experience. Right now all we have are cigalikes, and I wouldn't recommend those to anyone. This could change the game. Good on you guys.
5 ml of juice... full day vaping.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I have a Nemesis mod with a Cthulhu tank. I vape 15mg nicotine at .5 ohms dual coil. I vape all day and the 2-2.5ml tank lasts me all day. 5 ml is more than enough for a full day for people who aren't constantly dripping juice into a .1 ohm cloud chaser build.
This looks like a solid idea. Convenience is why my wife still hadn't gotten into rebuilding! I have a few questions: do you have a price point ready for the devices? For the disposable tanks? Will you be selling empty tanks to juice vendors to fill and sell independently or possibly be buying bulk juice from vendors then selling it yourself on your site?
At this time, price point for the device is $40-ish, and tanks $5-ish. Final #s TBD. Online will have more selection options than OTC.
We are still working out details on juice vendors. Tank licensing is definitely in our plans.
I don't really know how much your tanks cost to make, but I do know I can whip up some nice ass coils in 2 minutes and some nice ass juice in 5. And juice is extremely cheap. By saying "$5-ish," I just assume they're probably more expensive, and while I could be wrong, you might want to try to make them cheaper. Your main profit could be off the devices themselves rather than the refills. I think what turns a lot of people off vaping is the $8-10 10ml bottles of juice. At a certain point it does get pricy and that's why we all make our own juice here. I know nothing about businesses though, so take this with a grain of salt.
I hear you, but not everybody is able to do that - I'm very happy that I "converted" my mother-in-law to vaping, but it literally took months for her to get the tank assembly/refill/coil-change tasks down on a Horizon tank. Rebuilding would be completely impossible for her. She's a smart woman, but she just isn't mechanically inclined.
For her, something you could just snap in/out would be ideal. $5 is pricey, but if they can get it to a 1 or 2 day quantity, it'd still be a huge savings over what she used to spend on tobacco, and the convenience would be worth it.
As some one who is opening a vape shop this could be a nice device to carry if it does what you are looking for it to do. Signed up and looking farward to it. Moving forward i think it would be cool for having a way to upgrade. Like have a refillable tank. Or changable coils. Then have a way to rebuild. That would mean this one device would be able to last a vapers progression. Just a thought. Like $20 or $30 for a tank and a couple of coils. As well as an rba deck. Sorta like a subtank deck since it is damn easy to build on. I think if you guys pull this off it will be a gread device.
I'm curious how well the coils are made. I'm guessing the tanks are not refillable. Charging abilities of the mod? I'm on mobile and couldn't find very much info on the site but did apply.
I get about as good a vape from the Digirette as I do from a new Subtank OCC.
The tanks are designed to be disposable, but anything's refillable if you are resourceful. To be honest, we are targeting people who want a hassle-free experience and don't want to bother with refilling / rebuilding / rewicking.
Hassle free is always good, Even if it's just for a backup. Equipment is essential for someone trying to quit IMO. I struggled for a year until I sat down and spoke with a vape store manager trying all the high end devices at the time. Clearomizers are not for everyone.
If the experience is as good as a Subtank occ, then what is the benefit to your product? Subtanks are relatively inexpensive, coils are as well, and changing a Subtank coil is just screw in and out. What advantage does your product have?
I'm gonna go against the grain here and say this is a crappy idea. Just another way to keep your customers "loyal" by making them purchase refills from you. I didn't quit paying the cigarette man on a daily basis to in turn pay the vape juice man on a daily basis. This is why i DIY.
Just filled it out. Looks like it'd be perfect for on the go vaping. Are the coils built into the disposable tank or are they a separate thing?
Fresh new coil & wick with each tank.
And yes, even as a hobbyist, this thing has a regular place in my arsenal. When I was a smoker, I'd grab the pack and a lighter and be set. Vaping has meant two devices, spare batteries, bottles, etc. - you know the drill. The Digirette is great because I can just throw it in my pocket and hit the road.
I know a few people who won't give vaping a go for this very reason. Still smoking due to convenience.
This is the exact reason I still keep a pack of smokes in my work truck, even tho I can't smoke in it. I'll vape some days, others I just don't feel like hassling with it if I forget to charge a battery or bring some extra juice with me.
One of these things could certainly change that game tho. Might grab one of these when they're out to knock the habit for good!
It definitely sounds like this bad boy has its place, and would be perfect for people just starting in the world of vaping. I've filled out an app, but I'll fill in a couple guys at work that are very new to vaping and send them a link. Looks awesome!
Seems interesing, how long do you reckon a tank would last?
And will you be sourcing tanks to ejuice creators?
It's 5 ml, so for most users all day or more.
Right now we have partnered with a large juice manufacturer. Not sure what the future holds.
5ml is all day or more? Holy vapes bat man... I vape a LOT then, 20ml a day easy, sometimes more.
i travel often and i think this device would do the trick for me i currently use different tanks like a delta II and a kangertech subtank and fill them before i hit the highway but they have the dependency to leak alil after a while of sitting in a hot car or just sitting sideways
Yeah, when I'm at home I usually gravitate toward the dripper cloud machines, but this thing is perfect for travel. It's also virtually leak-proof, even on airplanes (that took some engineering effort). Even going to dinner with the wife - I used to ask her to keep my backup and spare battery in her purse, now I can bring just this and know I won't be left vapeless.
On the same note, I work in the airline industry. I'm so sick of leaking everywhere when I fly.
What kind of test have you done? Just flying with it?
Form didn't show up on Firefox - Tried Chrome and there it was :)
Sounds great, man! I wish you the best of luck! :D
Thanks Daath. You sign up?
I debated it, but in the end I did, just for the heck of it :) I'm thinking someone with less experience would be perfect though. You should get it to some reviewers as well (/u/SirRisc perhaps?)
Finally! I don't know about most diyers, but anyone who asks me about vaping is drawn in by the smell, but complains that, when they tried vaping, the products sucked and the good ones require too much fiddling...it's so much easier to grab a pack and a lighter. I've been waiting for this for a long time. Death to clearos!
I signed up from Canada. Not sure if you are including your friends to the north or not though. Things like this are great. I love to see the industry evolve and this is definitely hitting a spot in the market that hasn't really been hit yet. I hope you guys do good.
We are (probably) limiting the beta test to US. Hope to be in Canada soon.
Anything for you <3
I really want to find something to recommend to a friend at work. My setup is "too much" and he doesn't want to spend a shitload on coils, juice, batteries, etc. Good on you for doing this.
Signed up. Hopefully this bad boy will be the magic bullet for my dad. A good vape was too much work compared to smoking and my mom is at her wits end. I am really excited to test this out because it would solve so many problems!
I know a lot of people who want to get the same experience i get through my hobbyist vaping without the hassle of all the coil building and wicking involved. I'm really good at providing feedback and would love the opportunity to test a new vaping product.
It'd be good to talk to others about the idea with first hand experience as I'm really enthusiastic about discussing vaping generally with friends or random people i strike conversations up with because i find it interesting and i want to help smokers move to vaping.
If you needed feedback other than the intended channel i could also give any more thoughts i have over Skype if it would help?
Filled out the form. I think this is an awesome idea. I've been trying to get my mother-in-law to make the switch for a few months at the least. The main issue for her is that not only is it a lot of hassle for her, but there really aren't any vape shops around where she lives. I'm pretty sure there would even be some people at my college that would be interested in this (both smokers and vapers) if they knew about it.
I signed up and interested in this design for entry vapers. I give away eleafs and nautilus/atlantis's in South Florida to smokers.
Serves my needs of sweet revenge vs state. Every converted smoker = $2,300 loss in taxation per year per person for life. And people love the gift and freedom of vaping. At $65 a device, fill the box up.
A device that is easy to use, takes less time to educate on, and just as reliable and enjoyable is welcomed.
I'm actually pretty impressed with the design. If you are able to capture the vaping experience of a subtank in a disposable package that would be amazing. You really will be creating a new market for a product that doesn't exist.
As an experienced vapor, I hate having to bring bottles of juice, my drippers or tanks, and my sig 150 every time I go out, especially on late Friday or Saturday nights. This device would defiantly have a place in my arsenal.
Is the battery a LiPo or internal 18650 cells? Also approximate mAh?
Good luck in your product. I signed up so hopefully I get picked :)
This sounds like the perfect device for my brother and his wife. It's been more than a year since I convinced them to try ecigs but, he still smokes along with the ecig and she gave up because of headaches. Can't get my brother to move past egos.
I'd love to test drive this and be sure it'd be a good fit for them and a few other people I know. :)
I think you’re onto something great here, nothing I personally would use because I enjoy all the fiddling with RDAs etc but I can see why someone would pick this up!
A tip is you could set up this for Europe sale in 8 months, if the TPD goes as planned, your product would be the only option for people who don’t want to use cigalikes.
Just signed up. I used to enjoy the DIY more when I first started. Now I just want ease. Yeah it is cheaper rebuilding coils and wicking, and mixing juice. But there are times I just want to grab and go. Not worrying if I'll need cotton, do I have enough juice. And of course the drip and drive. Ugh. A sub ohm tank you can grab and go with interests me a lot. No one sells them on the market that way. I'm assuming maybe a 30w mod with a .5-.8 ohm coil. Perfect for those who may want to just venture from e-go to a sub ohm experience, as well as someone who like myself already is an experienced vapor and wants the easy road sometimes. I wish you well and hope I see them on the shelves one day soon.
This is super cool! I've been too lazy to actually learn how to do builds, I just head over to my local b&m to do it because they're cool guys and do could for $2 and free cotton change. This would be pretty chill to try though because I wouldn't ever have to leave the comfort of my home except for a trip to the mailbox.
My father has been trying to quit for years and has never been able to due to the perceived difficulty and having to carry around multiple objects.
He could barely even figure out the airflow controller on a tank yet alone the menu's on most VW mods.
He's been smoking for 20+ years and wants to quit, I'd really love to try helping him.
I signed up for him, I hope that's okay.
I really appreciate what you are doing either way, I wish you sincere luck and good wishes :)
Sent in my application. I'm super excited to see what you've come up with (if I'm selected!). Knowing you and your depth of vaping knowledge, you being involved in something like this gets me excited.
Hope everything works out well for you man! You've been very helpful to me in the past and I hope nothing but the best for you in your endeavor. :)
Thanks man. This is the culmination of a lot of work, and the reception so far has been off the charts.
Signed up! Looks really interesting and I would love to try it, hope I get selected! What sort of flavors would be in the tanks that get sent? Also what level of nicotine?
I signed up as well, I think this is pretty awesome. I would love to get the opportunity to be one of the first people to produce feedback for these devices. If done right I could definitely see it working. I wish there were more pictures on the site, I'm over here trying to do some pre-research for when you guys pick me but I want more. :)
I swear this sub seems psychic sometimes. Whenever I think of an idea for a recipe or have a specific flavor that I'm thinking of, I come here and someone is already talking about it. Even on different subjects. I literally was pondering the idea of something like this last week. How can someone make our devices more seamless and require less fidgety work? Disposable tanks that perform like subtanks? If something like this can help my friend stop smoking then it's worth every penny. Also they look pretty cool from what I can see.
I really wish you the best with your product, I only want to offer my opinion. Since I have quit smoking and started vaping, I have really enjoyed the building and mixing aspect of it, if I had to just buy a product and pop it on my mod it would ruin most of the fun for me.
I like the hobby aspect too. After doing this for several years, though, sometimes the 'ritual' becomes the 'burden'. I've enjoyed the freedom this system can bring when you want to head out without all the gear and backups. I'll grant it's not for everybody, but IMO all vapers can benefit from having this as an option. Appreciate your perspective.
too true! only been at it for a month now, so i'm still discovering the vaping world, but my coil went out while I was at work today and I completely stopped what I was doing and went home so I didn't have the urge to smoke. There is definately a market for it.
I'm interested in participating because I have friends that are precisely in the demographic you're searching for. People who are interested in getting the results I get with my rig, but explaining ohm's law, coil building, and battery safety is just WAY too much for them. I'm a young guy in law enforcement, so most of my co workers are older people without as much interest learning this as a hobby, but because of the stress related to the profession A LOT of them smoke.
