Apparently I won last month's recipe thread, which means at least a couple people enjoy my recipes. This is the one I submitted for this month, called Rasshole.
Basically, this is my take on a creamy, almost ice-creamish raspberry. There's nothing really outlandish about it; it just hits the spot very well.
1% Bavarian Cream (TFA)
.25% Honey (FA)
1% Raspberry (FA)
2% Raspberry (INW)
1.5% Sweet Raspberry (TFA)
1.5% Strawberry (FA)
2% Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (CAP)
As you can see, the only creams present here are CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and TFA Bavarian Cream. Even with the small percentages, they really come together nice after a few days. The honey lends the touch of almost dark sweetness that I was missing when I tried EM or Sucralose. I normally don't like adding any type of sweetener to my juice, but I felt this needed something to not be so bitter.
This raspberry blend has been the best I've found so far. Not to sweet and overpowering from the TFA, but not too candy-like from the INW and FA.
This needs at least a few days to steep for the creams to blend with the honey, as well as for the bitterness to leave the raspberries.
Let me know how you guys like it, and as always, fuck you, /u/thirdworldorder.
Happy cakeday friend! Mine was a few days ago high-5555
Oh shit! I didn't even realize haha. Thanks, best buddy <3
Looks pretty good to me! Have you messed around with FW Razzleberry yet? It's actually really damn good, and I have /u/Botboy141 to thank for that as usual.
(Oh, and also Botboy, I'll have feedback for you on that custard recipe that uses FW Tres Leches in a week or so...I know you posted it ages ago, but I just got the stuff in now).
Not yet. I meant to add it to my last order, but completely forgot about it.
I know how that goes! I suggest, like botboy, that you combine it with INW Raspberry. It really fills in the little things I find missing in the INW and turns it into pretty much the perfect raspberry flavor.
FLV Raspberry is also quite good, which is sort of the standard with that company.
I still have a bottle steeping (~3 months now) exciting!
Wow, nice! I tested it fresh and it was very nice. I'm wondering what else I might be able to fit Tres Leches in. It seems like a very nice flavor profile for custards/vanillas/cakes. I bet it + FW Yellow Cake would be a solid start to something.
This is good stuff, great use of FA honey. It does add that extra depth that EM or even TFA BSE doesn't give. The flavor profiles from TFA Straw and INW/TFA Ras is delicious. Thanks man.
I read that as "25% Honey" and I was like "Holy shit no" so maybe if there was a 0 before the decimal point just in case?
Nah. I'll just let people mix it with 25% honey and prepare my inbox for hate mail.
2% INW Raspberry is a lot. I made a raspberry cheesecake with 0.5% INW Raspberry and it was up front. Have you tried lowering it? I found that less is best with that concentrate
Yeah, I've worked the percentages around quite a bit. This is what I've settled on that, I think, brings out the best in each of those flavors.
How is CAP VBIC? I love the TFA variant and I've wanted to try CAP's version.
Honestly, I think it's a little more true to the name. It's a little creamier without being too heavy. I'm one of those that get a slight peppery taste from TFA, and I don't get that from CAP. Also, you can cut it by about 25% compared to TFA and get the same feel, in my experience. Mixed, the two are fantastic. I haven't tried it above 4% yet, though. I did try a spin on Mustard Milk that was pretty good.
4% VBIC (CAP)
4% VBIC (TFA)
4% Sweet Strawberry (CAP)
3% Strawberry (TFA)
.5% Bilberry (FA)
Mixed this one last night, going to give it a week to settle.
Let me know how it goes.
Finally tried this after 5 day steep. Nice! Only a couple omissions/subs, but really good. Im adding this one to my rotation. And I will send you my raz custard after final tweaks, getting close.
Thanks, and to anyone reading this, you need to try his creamy rasshole!
Thanks for Sharing! I have every ingredient except for CAP VBIC- any recommendations for starting % using TFA VBIC to add the same desired elements? I tried a similar recipe last month with FA Fresh Cream and LA Bavarian cream and found it to be too try, the VBIC definately looks like a better idea
I would try something like 5-6% TFA VBIC and maybe 1% FA Cream Fresh. The CAP seems a little creamier to me, and I'm able to use less. I haven't tried TFA in this recipe, but the two have very similar profiles, so it should work.
Edit: whoops. Meant to say 4-5% TFA VBIC. 6% would probably be too high with the Cream Fresh.
Which of the two INW Raspberries is this? I have the INW Raspberry Concentrate, but know there's also INW (WG) Raspberry.
4 month-old thread question incoming
Just received TFA Sweet Rasp and INA Raspberry for a different variation of this- You note above the distinction between the three raspberries but how important do you think the 1% FA Rasp is?
I know I wouldn't just sub in +1% more INA Rasp, but maybe a bit more of each?
Thanks
Haha going through the archives for this one, huh?
I would say to not raise the INW, but maybe take the TFA up to 2.5 or even 3%.
Sounds good and Thank you for the reply!
Opened up INA Rasp last night fully knowing it was going to be strong- Was still impressed by how strong it was.
