Clone Recipe Thread 4: Killer Clones from Outer Space
submitted almost 10 years ago by kirktBring on the Diacetyl, baby

First Second Third

This thread will be policed for proper content and posts not meeting the criteria will be deleted. That said, here's some rules:

  • Top level posts must be a clone recipe that you have personally made and tasted versus the original juice.
  • Sub-level comments may be suggestions for improvement (e.g., "needs more vanilla") or your own version of the same juice. Comments such as "this is spot-on" will be allowed as others test your recipe.
  • "Contest Mode" is enabled so only top level posts will be seen by default. Be sure to expand sub-posts if you are working on a juice.
  • Please do not create another top-level post for a juice which is already posted in the top level. Add your recipe underneath the top level post.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO requests for recipes. If you want a clone for your favorite juice, use the monthly clone request thread or (better yet) try creating your own clone.

Recipe formatting should follow these conventions:

Clone of <Juice Name> from <Vendor Name>

<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) y drops per z ml

Don't put your Nic, PG or VG in the recipe unless you feel it is necessary for the proper blend. All percentages should be a percentage of the final mix (hint: if they add up to 100% you have done it wrong). If you normally work in ml not %, please use a calculator such as eJuice Me Up to calculate the percentages for your post.

Strawberry Astronaut by Jimmy the Juice Man

  • Strawberry (TFA) 10%

  • Apricot (TFA) 3-4% (I prefer 4%)

  • Mango (TFA) 1%

30\70 VG

Sorry i keep highjacking this recipe!!! But I've updated it with 1% apple (TFA) in place of the mango and it really takes this mix almost dead close to the real deal. Also add in .75 to 1% Ethyl maltol. If you smell the real juice and then take a whiff of ethyl maltol you can definitely tell it's in there. Also i suggest using 4% like he prefers!

tl;dr
Updated Version:

  • Strawberry (TFA) 10%
  • Apricot (TFA) 4%
  • Apple (TFA) 1%
  • Ethyl Maltol 1%

This one. it's from their website so if you're getting it somewhere else they might label it as red apple. I know it's not tart Granny Smith or green apple

you do know that tfa strawberry contains a ton of EM. Not saying there isn't additional in there but u can smell EM in just pure strawberry. Straw Astro is my fav vape I go through 120ml bi weekly..Im almost certain that the apricot is tamed with a cream , I have some sweet cream on the way and ill let you know how it turns out

I haven't officially archived my 'Nana Cream clone yet, so here goes.

Clone of 'Nana Cream from Bombies

  • 8% TFA Strawberry
  • 5% LA Banana Cream
  • 1.5% TFA Apricot(OR 1% TFA Kiwi Double)
  • 1% TFA Dragonfruit
  • .4% TFA Quince

Best after a week steep. Don't heat the bottle after mixing, it degrades the flavor.

If you're making more than 2 week's worth of this juice(>100mL), I recommend using TFA Kiwi Double either in place of the apricot, or at .5% with 1% TFA Apricot.

shoutout to /u/furyxus for pointing me to the kiwi.

This is an off topic questions, but I bought a ton of quince when your first version of the clone came out, and I was excited to try it in a lot of things.

I came to realize that quince is a very strong a peculiar flavor. It isn't quite apple, it isn't quite citrus, kind of a splatter of several ingredients.

Do you have any recommendations on how to use it? You're probably the only person I know that has included quince in any of their recipes.

I would have PM'd you, but I figure this would be good public knowledge.

2 points

by skiddlzninjaalmost 10 years agoFrugivore

I use it to freshen up fruit flavors. Works great with apple, great with peach, great with banana, it's good to make strawberry a bit more tart. I like what it does to pastry flavors that have a fruit in them. It has good synergy with dessert cinnamons.

1 points

by catmandu_almost 10 years ago

> use it to freshen up fruit flavors. Works great with apple, great with peach, great with banana, it's good to make strawberry a bit more tart. I like what it does

And you normally use this around 0.4%?

I recall you saying that it hits hard when you steep it for more than a week.

1 points

by catmandu_almost 10 years ago

> % TFA Strawberry > 5% LA Banana Cream > 1.5% TFA Apricot(OR 1% TFA Kiwi) > 1% TFA Dragonfruit > .4% TFA Quince

Why did you cap apricot at 1.5%? was it too overpowering?

1 points

by skiddlzninjaalmost 10 years agoFrugivore

Yeah, the apricot is a stronger flavor from TFA, and anything over 1.5% adds too much of its flavor, and doesn't taste like 'Nana Cream. Still tastes good, but not 'Nana Cream.

1 points

by catmandu_almost 10 years ago

Thanks for the info, I just whipped up a batch last night. I'm gonna let it steep for 1-3 days and I'll report my findings

1 points

by catmandu_almost 10 years ago

The nana cream is pretty good so far, but to me it doesn't quite taste like the original. there's this fruit taste that pops out, which I believe is the apricot.

There's almost an alcoholic taste to it as well, which I think would go away after some more steeping.

Overall, still a great flavor, but I'll steep it another 4 days before tasting it again

Do you normally make this with 70/30 vg/pg?

1 points

by Furyxusalmost 10 years ago

Glad you're digging the kiwi! I'm personally at:

TFA strawberry - 7%

LA Banana Cream - 6%

TFA kiwi (double) - 2%

TFA smooth - 0.33%

I can't discern the difference from the real nana, and I've gone as far as dripping them side by side. So that's the clone I use! But, that's the beauty of DIY, some folks may prefer the dragonfruit, quince, or apricot or some combo of them more.

2 points

by skiddlzninjaalmost 10 years agoFrugivore

I find that higher than 1% kiwi gives an earthy flavor after steeping.

Ingredient|% :---|---: Bavarian Cream (TPA)|3 Cream Cheese Icing (LA)|2 Cream Fresh (FA)|1 Green Tea (TPA)|3.5 Gummy Candy (TPA)|0.5 Jasmine (FA)|0.8 Sweet Cream (FW)|1.5 Sweetener (Sucralose) (TPA)|2

Not 100% but as close as I can get at the moment.

Jasmine can be tweaked anywhere from 0.3-1.0 on taste prefrence.

Gummy Candy is there for the tapioca flavor/texture.

Thinking about bumping FA Cream Fresh to 3.0%.

Blue Lagoon by Vaporlush

  • OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slushie 7%

  • FW Blueberry 4%

  • TFA Acai 3%

  • TFA Dragonfruit 2%

Cloned this by accident when everyone was going crazy about blue raspberry last month. I've always tasted more blueberry than blue raspberry out of Blue Lagoon, and the recipe reflects this. You could bump the blueberry up to 5%, as it's been awhile since I had the original. I'm almost positive that it's FW in the original, but the blueberry I have to compare to is FLV, which wasn't out when Blue Lagoon was released.

The acai blends in well with the blue raspberry to give it a bit more depth. The dragonfruit adds a bit of tingle, so to speak.

Trying to make a great Seven Seas Clone - I found out quickly that it's not just TFA Watermelon that is in it, as people have suggested. I'm pretty sure it's actually TFA Watermelon Candy or a mix of the two. (Perhaps Cap's sweet watermelon - but I'm not sure as I don't have that flavor) Here's what I have so far.

  • TFA Watermelon Candy 6%
  • TFA Watermelon 3%
  • TFA Blueberry Wild 3%
  • TFA Raspberry Sweet 3%
  • TFA Strawberry Ripe 3%
  • TFA Koolada 1-2% (per how much cooling you want)
  • Drop of sour or citric acid per 10ml

Still not there but closer imho to the actual juice than the one in the sub. I'm out of the real stuff so I need to reorder before I start attempting it again.

Edit: If you have any suggestions, or know what/if anything I'm missing let me know. Was thinking maybe a little blackberry or something might be in the mix.

1 points

by AWWstevealmost 10 years agoOne of "The Damned"

Did you try TFA Strawberry instead of TFA Strawberry Ripe. TFA Strawberry has that candy sweetness that you might be looking for with adding the Watermelon candy.

Gush Clone I had made several versions, trying different cherry flavors, red licorice, Shirley temple by flavor west was suggested... I tried many different ideas. But something would be slightly off, until....

I ordered TFA gummy candy, without giving much thought. I had tried Flavor West version, gummy bear and knew it wasn't it. Anyway, this was it!!

•TFA Gummy Candy 2-4%

Depending on the device your using, temperature and such you can adjust accordingly. You can taste it! even at 2 drops per 10 ml, but personally I liked it best at 3%, and am setting at 95watts on Ipv3, with Tfv4 quad coil.

This seems too easy, right? But its perfect, spot on. If someone else tries it that likes Gush, please let me know. It seems to give the right flavor, gummy with slight cherry note, nice mouth feel which the triactin (sp?) gives it. Which I believe I would use this one as opposed to the gummy candy in a pg base, unless someone has an allergy.

3 points

by chewymidgetalmost 10 years ago

I've been mixing different variations of this recipe to try to make a clone recently.

Gummi bears FW/TFA 4%

Swedish gummy tfa 1%

Juicy peach 2% tfa

Strawberry 2% tfa

Golden Pineapple 1% cap

This recipe is really close to a gushers taste. I'm trying to figure out how to bring out the juicy center more but for now it tastes like a complex mixed bag of gummy bears which is still really good.

This is my own clone of Halo Tribeca. After it's steep, if you smell it side by side with the original, it's nearly identical. This one isn't as viscous as Halo's original one is, in mouthfeel or in the tank (ie on coils); that's because I wanted a slightly lighter version of the original.

My recipe is very similar to the clone commonly found online (with AP and Graham cracker). I've mainly tweaked the percentages. This is a 60% PG recipe. I normally do zero nic, but this one I have to do at 6mg because... well I like it better with the 6. I might work on it more to see if I can get the nic's TH, spiciness boost without using nic, down the road.

  • 10% Ethyl Maltol Solution: 1.5%
  • Acetyl Pyrazine 5%: 1.25%
  • Graham Cracker (Clear) (TPA): 2%
  • RY4 Double (TPA) 10%

Needs a solid, solid 2 week steep. Or a 4hr hot water bath then a few days to steep but I've been finding steeping RY4 Double reduces its flavour somewhat. I mix this up in 100ml batches, I like it so much (and I use it as a base for other stuff)

Have you ever had Halo Midnight Apple? I've been trying to clone it for months!

1 points

by Stupidskyalmost 10 years ago

I absolutely loved all Halo juice back when I used a protank, but it's just not the same out of a dripper. kringles curse is what got me to stop smoking so I'll always kinda owe that company credit for helping me make the switch. I wasn't a fan of midnight Apple but I'm almost certain it contains TFA green apple and TFA Black honey tobacco. I gave up on tribeca, it is most certainly NOT the infamous TriBeCa clone 26, and I'm kinda upset about that

This is a bang on clone of Belmont by Long Beach Juice Company. It's my #2 favorite ADV of all time, so I've devoted several batches to copying it.

Belmont

  • TFA Honeydew 4%
  • INW Peach 0.5%
  • FA Honey (10% Dilution) 1%

If you don't do FA Honey dilutions, then you can try to do .1% FA Honey.

Edit: For some reason, the 30ml didn't age like the 10ml test bottles did. They all had way too much Peach. I've dropped the peach down to 0.5% and the 30mls turned out better.

Clone of Lenola Cream by Kite in Cloud

  • Shisha Strawberry (INW) @ 5.5%
  • Vanilla Custard (FLV) @ 2.5%
  • Apple Pie (FA) @ 2%
  • Cheesecake (LA) @ 1.5%
  • Sweet Cream (TFA) @ 1%
  • Banana Cream (TFA) 1%
  • Biscuit (INW) @ 1%
  • Butter (Cap) @ 0.5%
  • Ethyl Maltol (10%) @ 0.5%
  • Acetyl Pyrazine (5%) @ 0.25%

Add around 5 drops of FA MTS per 30mL. TFA Smooth would probably be fine here, too.

Mix this at 70% VG, and allow to age. This gets rounder and loses some harshness and the overly floral notes from the Shisha Strawberry in about 1-2 weeks. Really in its prime at 3+ weeks.

This recipe doesn't solve Lenola Cream, but it's close enough for me. For my first real attempt at a serious clone I'm pretty satisfied. I may try playing with other cheesecakes, maybe FA Cookie, etc.

The Flavorah VC obviously isn't in the original, but I find it matures much more quickly, at lesser quantities, than most others. I suspect that KiC is using either TFA VC, or perhaps FA Custard w/ a vanilla. Honestly there's a hundred ways this clone could go, and I don't have the time.

Like I said, close enough for me!

Props to KiC. Lenola Cream is one of my favorite juices ever.

You can check it out on ELR.

Toasted Space, a Space Jam Venus clone

  • 4% Toasted Marshmallow TFA
  • 3% Marshmallow FA
  • 1% Caramel FA
  • .5% Peanut Butter TFA
  • .5% Whipped Cream FA

Shake the shit out of peanut butter before you use it. Actually, just shake everything. But not shaking peanut butter can cause the 6-8 different pyrazines to become unbalanced & will cause dryness & harshness. Lots of it.

Whipped Cream FA instead of TFA because FA has yummy diketones which help smooth things out, and TFA's whipped cream is like vaping air. I didn't detect any sucralose or EM in the one original bottle i had a year ago, but if you need it you could add like .2% EM

Lime Sparkle by Fair City Vapes

I asked for this in the request thread a few months ago, but I guess it's not a very well known juice in the USA. I have been half heartedly trying to get close to it since then, thinking it was too complex and I'd never make it.

In the end I accidentally got very close to it, and with a couple of alterations I have something which is at least 90% there imo.

Lime Sparkle is a very clean and fresh, zesty lime flavoured type juice. The best description of it is like lime starburst and green fruit pastilles. Sweet, sharp, zesty and very strongly flavoured.

It doesn't seem to change much with steeping and doesn't seem to invoke 'vapers tongue' either. I've been vaping this for over a week and it tastes just as good as it did on the first day.

If anyone cares to try it, I would be very interested to hear of any alterations that might improve it even further!

Crosstown_Rebel and Shrine399's Strawberry Cereal Clone

incredibly long name, I know, but I don't like renaming clones

(TFA) Strawberry (ripe) - 6%

(TFA) Berry Crunch - 4%

(TFA) Hazelnut - 1%

(TFA) Marshmallow - 1%

(TFA) Bavarian Cream - 0.5%

(TFA) Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (optional) - 1%

(FA) Meringue - 0.5%-1.0%

(CAP) Super Sweet - 0.5% or (TFA/any sucralose 10%) Sweetener - 2%

Steep time: 4-7 days

Placid clone 99.9%

Honeysuckle Tfa. @ 3%

Pear Tfa. @ 7%

Strawberry Tfa. @ 5%

Key Lime Tfa. @ 1%

Bitter wizard FA. @ 1%

Pear Tfa - I've tried many pears (fw, Inw, fa, cap, la) and Tfa is definitely the right one. I think 7% might still be too low, try it at 8-9-10%.

Key lime Tfa - at 1% is perfect imo. I tried a bunch of different limes and while fa lime Tahiti Cold pressed is good, it makes it too "limey"

Strawberry Tfa - this strawberry is perfect here. You can try strawberry (fw) 5% or sweet strawberry (cap) @ 3% which also works.

Bitter wizard FA 1% - this is the most important thing in the recipe. The original has a bitterness that I couldn't emulate until I figured this out. If you have the original placid, take a hit of it and then immediately take a hit of a sweet juice and see for yourself how it cuts the sweetness. Even @ 0.2% you can see how much of a difference it makes.

After months of attempts I finally have something that I can honestly say is very close (I think identical). Because of the high percentage of flavoring it smells as strong as the original and is "muted" like it. Try it out and you won't be disappointed.
