So I just got my first order and I'm was reading that it's a good idea to make small testers of individual flavors to get to know them. I've got a bunch of 3ml bottles so I'm going to use those.
Does anyone have any tips for what vg/pg ratio to use for these testers? I usually vape 70vg/30pg but I understand that pg carries flavor better. Should I increase it to 50/50? Will the flavors still translate well when I make 70/30?
Idk why people are suggesting drops, did you but a scale? In the beginning I bought a 0.00 digital measuring scale, used http://dot1ml.com/mixer to get my percentages, then used a guide on how to "measure diy eliquid by weight" and made lil 3 ml testers. measuring by weight allows you to get really accurate mixes which (if you record your measurements) allows you to recreate what you've mixed. Idk why people are telling you to measure drops and all through a guess&check style, that sounds goofy... just follow a diy-or-die guide or something else that's been recommended on this sub and enjoy!

Nah man, I mix by volume as well. Mixing by weight is easier and more accurate, but I bought the stuff for mixing by volume and have had no trouble with it.

Scales are extremely affordable online. I followed the advice posted in this sub and got a scale and have only mixed by weight. With a simple juice calculator the amounts of all ingredients are just simply there for you to copy directly. I'd highly recommend this method. Just my opinion.
I remake these every time I change my nic base, they sit right at my mixing station so I'm ready for a 10ml single tester at any time.
These are for 10ml, but you could make some for 3. Don't do drops, they aren't consistent so especially at small volumes, you'll get very close to no useful information.
That's what I've been doing. I have three 3ml amber vials that I reuse.
I'll wash them with dawn and alcohol with a water rinse. I shake dry them well so there's no mineral deposits from the water drying. I also have three 15ml glass bottles I keep with 50/50. Then I'll put 3ml's of the 50/50 base in the vials, and add my flavoring on top of that. Usually I like 5% so .15ml from a syringe. If your syringes have needles you have to calculate out the needle volume.
I usually vape 70/30 as well but I think 50/50 is best for testing flavors. Yes, it'll translate just fine. 70/30 will replace some flavor with sweetness. I also vape 70/30 flavorless all the time, and recommend it so you know what to expect and cancel out of your flavored.
What I would do if I was you (and what I do myself to test new single flavors) is first look up people's preferred single flavor percentage. Then try the flavor with 1 drop of flavor and 19 drops of PG. Then try 2 drops flavor and 18 drops. Each drop is 5% so 1, 2, and 3 drops of flavor in a 20 solution will give you 5%, 10%, and 15% flavor respectively. Not many flavors should go to 15% but there are a few. This will just give you a good idea of what strength you prefer a flavor at according to your pallet.
Edit: After testing in 20 drops, mix a 70/30 VG/PG or a 50/50 blend at your prefered strength to test the flavors out.
I use this method. Make sure you have droppers that are the same size. And do 1%=1 drop . That goes for VG/PG and subtitite NIC with dilution. Its alot of work but little waist and effective Or bring a shot glass , fill with 2ml water and do adrop or two , stir then taste dont swallow :-) and repeat until u get a feel of the flavor
