Hey All, Last week I made a post voicing my disappointment with the premiere issue of the In The Mix magazine. /u/abdada made a comment to me asking what I've released to the community. I thought about this and took it as a challenge. Thanks abdada for the motivation. I sat down Friday and started writing. This evening I finished it up and just published it.
I now present to you a new magazine called, DIY to LIVE FREE. You can download it from either of the links below. Here's an image of the cover if you want a preview : http://i.imgur.com/IVS96EN.png

Please let me know what you think.
That While You're Vooping section is genius.
Oh, and by the way, I mixed up some of your Blackout recently. Minus the torrone since I don't have any on hand. It's amazing!! Fantastic job. I love it. Thanks.
I've been searching for a way to start using up the 16oz bottle of TFA Peanut Butter I have because I miss-clicked on an order I made.
Here's an idea for that PB:
5% PB
3% FA Fuji
2% Cap Green Apple
I'm actually getting repeat orders for this untweaked raw test. Tastes best after a couple weeks. PB heavy vapes burn me out quickly, but this is just a hint of it.
Thanks for that emag!
I'm glad you like it man. The torrone really helps mend everything in a little more too so try it out next time you order.
I just made an order from Gremlin this afternoon and looked. He didn't have that one listed or I'd have grabbed it. Nice job on PoH last night. Watched the replay. I'm glad that you are bringing exposure to the craft. Bringing more people into the community is good for everyone.
Man, this was good. Why didn't you charge for it?! I kid. But really...this content was better, Wayne's was prettier. That's pretty much my takeaway. I'd really be interested in more releases. If you're interested in pursuing, I would consider changing the name. It seems like (I know..it obviously is) a jab at Wayne, and people will likely associate you as "that other dude". You don't want that.
Also..please no more with the Unicorn Milk. It's not the actual recipe. 3 days in, yeah, it's close. After that, it's way off base. As I said when it was released, it's likely some random guy who got CAP's creams, played around with a recipe (ahem..humblebrag, but it shares a lot in common with mine), got close, and wanted to be the conductor of the newest hype train.
I'm aware my opinion will probably not matter to you, since this may be a one time thing. But seriously, I enjoyed it.
Hey. Thanks. Appreciate you taking the time to read it. It's obviously thrown together pretty quickly. Given more time could have been prettier. But didn't want to let it sit and become one of those unfinished projects.
Regarding the name though...it's not a jab at Wayne. It's a nod to Richard Stallman. Founder of the GNU project. I admire his view point and approach to open and FREE sharing of information. That's where the live free part comes from.
Ahh I must have skimmed past that. Makes sense. Any plans to release more videos? You left me hanging last year.
> this content was better, Wayne's was prettier.
COLLAAAABBB!
> Also..please no more with the Unicorn Milk.
Agreed. I still like your version better I think.
<3 thanks! The "official" just turns to strawberry plastic after a week. Pretty obvious it's not real.
Needs more self-promotion. 6/10
My mug shot on page five wasnt enough? Ok. Next issue you'll get a centerfold.
You promised a latex versus polyisoprene glove review. I'm charging back.
Lol. You got me man.
I tried to download the PDF but it's stuck in a USPS sorting center in Nebraska. Can you call them and fix it?
So much better, this is exactly what I was looking for when I paid. Glad I gave the month cost, and looking forward for more to come. Thanks again.
> this is exactly what I was looking for when I paid. Glad I gave the month cost
But you paid someone else :) This was done by a totally different person and it's a totally different magazine
Thank you. I understand the background behind this post but I just sat down and read this whole thing. Most of it is geared towards the beginner. However, even though I'm no DIY newb, I enjoyed reading it and there's information in there for the majority of mixers. It was well-written with a bunch of great info, this could be in the sidebar links or something.
I thought this was going to be a sarcasm rag full of memes, but I was wrong. Really enjoyed this, actually. Nice work!!
Since you got the content, and you are not profiting from this, you may want to hit up one of the design subreddits and see if a graphic designer wants to help you out the actual look of the magazine.
At first glance, it the design looks terrible, but the content is good.
Nice! I read the majority of it (skipped some of the noob content). It could use some editing and layout work, but it wasn't necessary for me to enjoy the content. Great job and thank you for dropping this on us. I hope you decide to put out more issues!
I think you did a good job with this. one thing I do not disagree with the Inthemix, is that to submit an article for inclusion in the mag, you have to be a paid subscriber. For content like this to thrive, submissions and freelance writing is important to being well-rounded and unbiased publication. inthemix mag has every right to charge what they want, but no publication should require their contributors to pay for the "privilege" of submitting their own hard work. Its counter-intuitive to producing high quality content.
Hadn't thought of that. Good point.
I do want it said that I do think Wayne's publication is nice. Very clean and spartan. In general I think he is doing good things. Your publication is also nice, and certainly a worthy use of anyone's time with interest in DIY.
Need to add a section to this.
"USING DIY FLAVORS FOR FOOD"
Here's your first article on it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/3mselc/homemade_italian_ice_with_your_diy_stuff/
Seriously, pretty sure my new hobby is "Cooking with DIY".
Great idea !! If I do another, this will certainly be in there. Got a headshot I can include with the credit to the original author? PM me if so and I'll be sure to add it.
Great reading here... I haven't read the other for-pay mag, but I learned a few things from this one. Looking forward to future issues!
I really liked this, I enjoyed the recipe review, it means I can mark one off my list, even though it was never on it.
I don't really agree with page 5. How come most companies can make "budget" e liquid and still make a profit and keep employees and the "budget" juice taste just as good. They charge you extra for the fancy labels and putting the thing in a box! There is no reason for a "premium" e liquid that uses the same ingredients as a "budget" e liquid to be 3 - 4 x the price! Budget e liquid companies do very well. I see it as greed by the companies and very clever marketing kind of like Apple mentality. They see the liquid as better just because it looks better. Just like people chose iPhone over android. Purely cos " if it costs more it must be better"
Agree with your points. In my haste to get this written, I forgot to add costs for marketing and packaging. Those are costs as well and sometimes very large costs. Great analogy the with Apple. I agree completely. But, as a business, there's a market there. Some people just want the shiny more expensive items. I, for one, will never buy an Apple product. Partially due to the over inflated cost, but more for the fact that they make proprietary products. I don't want iTunes polluting my PC.
I'm a bot, bleep, bloop. Someone has linked to this thread from another place on reddit:

Good stuff man! Very happy you spotlighted HV, they are a fantastic company I have been ordering from for a long time and have had nothing but a great experience with them. They also have fantastic prices on bottles when you order 100.
Great job - solid content. Really helpful for the beginners especially.
My only beef is you left out the biggest "con" of mixing by weight (and the reason I went back to syringes): If you over-add an ingredient, the mix will be wrong - you can't get it back out. Might not be a disaster, but it won't be what you intended to make. If I draw too much flavor into my syringe, I just squirt the excess into my waste cup and move on.
Hulalgualglaldlvdoemsl!
Again with the fucking gloves!
Fuck a bunch of gloves, wear goddamn safety glasses!
Besides, latex doesn't do shit against things like nicotine.
Have another look. Nitrile gloves are recommended. Safety precautions are prudent. No one will force you to use them. I'm all for liberty and not having anything forced upon me. If I want to play with fireworks, I should be able to. If I blow my hand off, then it's my fault. If I want to drive without my seat belt on, I should be able to do so. But, that shouldn't stop anyone from recommending I use it for my own protection. Both of those are illegal where I live because of people who didn't follow simple safety precautions.
Wow this is just what I needed. Looks like I'm ordering that starter kit this weekend!
Cool. Glad it helped. There are others out there, too. I know a few places have them. The liquid barn one has been popular lately.

Doh, actually just ordered the starter kit from the site you mentioned in the PDF.
Lets see how it works out, got a myriad of goofy juices to start with so this should be interesting.
Honestly curious, why does everyone recommend 48mg/ml strength nicotine to start?
100mg/ml is way cheaper pound for pound and it's really not dangerous unless you drink it, which in that case 48mg/ml would be just as dangerous.
Unless you use your entire quantity of that 100mg/mL in a few months, it's more than likely going to oxidize. Of course you can prolong that, but for the majority of mixers, we won't notice it's oxidizing because we're used to it by daily vaping. It's like the old "frog in boiling water" adage. /u/abdada preaches this at least a few times a week.
I'm going to be switching to DIY after I finish all of the juices I bought and I LOVED this. Thank you so much for doing it and I hope you continue to do so.
You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it. I'm working on a follow up but have been busy with some other things and haven't spent much time on it lately. Keep an eye out here. I'll post it as soon as it's done. Good luck jumping in. Haven't a place to go to ask others for help is great.
