Juice smells and tastes fine, but vapor smells terrible
submitted about 10 years ago by O8N0X10U5

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a few weeks and just started working on my first couple of batches. I started with basic, 1-flavor juices. The first was tfa Juicy Peach (7%) and the other was cap energy drink (10%) both 6mg nic. I used Wizard Labs 12mg 100%pg base and Wizard Labs 100% VG. Both juices smell and taste great to me, but the vapor smells putrid. If I had to describe it, I'd compare it to wet dog. I waited a few days and tried a couple more flavors (with a different bottle of VG, same nic base) with the same result. I've used store-bought juice in the meantime and the vapor from those smells totally fine.

I don't know what I may have done wrong, both were mixed immediately after coming home from the lab and everything is stored in my windowless man cave. Could it be a bad batch of nic?

Thanks in advance.

As soon as I saw peach I knew it. Something about artificial peach flavors smells like hot garbage to me.

Gonna have to disagree, my tfa juicy peach smells fine. Maybe it's like the cilantro thing where different people perceive it differently..m.

I can certainly appreciate that. I can't stand certain artificial flavors, but I don't think this is related to the flavor specifically. It's happened across a few of them from different manufacturers.

That's a good point. I've been using my Atlantis with the newer BVC's. I tried swapping coils, but the odor remains. I have a Uwell Crown coming in soon. Maybe that'll make a difference.

I'm not entirely sure what causes it, but I think to some extent it's unavoidable with certain flavors. My friend had a honeydew flavor from Mt Baker Vapor that tasted amazing but smelled like rotten nutmeg.

I've never had something smell this terrible before. I vaping in my driveway instead of my garage because I can't stand being trapped with the smell. I was actually thinking about buying one of the flavorings MBV sells (probably guabana berry) to see if it might just be my senses being weird.

Same thing happened to me! Girlfriend forbid me from every using that flavor again around her.

Can be some of the flavours, TFA Guave has a really nice taste for example but it smells like old sweat so I can never use more then 1%.

That's another flavor that I used in a different bottle attempting to recreate Guabana Berry from MBV I used 3% guava and strawberry and 4% banana. I think it was too much guava.

Yeah it's really overpowering when you add too much, goes quite well with together with some fruity mixtures to give it some extra depth. Just don't go over 1% or it smells disgusting. Too bad because I love Guava drinks :(

Same here. Fortunately these DIY mistakes are fairly inexpensive ones. I just wish I could make something that didn't smell so damn horrible.

The peach has a tendency to smell like ferret musk.

Yeah, I don't think it'll be a repeat purchase. I'm wondering if I just didn't use enough flavoring in the energy drink initially. I added a bit more (.5ml) and the vapor smells a lot better.

Had this issue with red velvet flavoring. Juice tastes like red velvet cupcakes, vapor smells like feet.

Lol I'll be sure to avoid that.

That makes me sad, picked up some red velvet a while ago, and was looking forward to mixing with it.

It may just be the mix, and the folks I give it to like it, but more than one person has commented on the smell.
