Monthly flavor with a twist? (idea)
submitted over 9 years ago by Twitchy993

Migraine induced idea... Could be horrible. Figured I throw it out there.

Basically a community competition for best recipe of a certain flavor. A flavor (McDonald's Caramel Frappe for example) at the beginning of each month could be suggested. One month for people to make a recipe closest tasting to that recipe. After/during that month people can make and test those recipes and vote on a favorite. Given a month to make that recipe members could order flavors and have them tested fairly well for 2 weeks. Thoughts behind/Recipe notes should be posted with the "final" recipe.

Them more I type the more this sounds like it would not be a good long term idea...

This idea, I think, would help new mixers to taste a real product and see the thought process behind turning that taste into a good ejuice. I'm not sure how many products or recipes could be used for this more than a one time idea. I know as a fairly new mixer I don't have the wide variety of flavors to make the majority of flavors but with notice and a little friendly competition more people may get involved to make Reddit crowd recipes.

Honey was this month's flavor. I love honey... But I'm almost afraid to order it for fear of my face melting and/or attracting feral cats to spray the side of my house in retaliation. So I won't participate. Hence the twist. Not a specific PG based flavor, but rather a food imitation.

This idea may suck... I dunno. Back to laying here with my ice pack. Good distraction for a few minutes.

I think this would be cool if we gave the flavor like the month before, let everyone figure stuff out on their own, and then the next month open up the thread for everyone to share and comment and try and tweak and whatnot. That's a great idea though!

like u could get an idea of how to use a new flavor by taking an "average percentage" of the chosen flavor from all the submitted recipes. if that makes sense

I like the idea, that's basically how I decide what new recipes to make now anyway. Should lead to interesting combos to mimic real world flavors

Don't know why you're being down voted, seems like a think tank which would be a good thing.

Another plus side is variety for the same end result that will be beneficial to everyone's different taste buds. Variations of the same end result recipe would be kept in one thread. With notes and input from other users people could adapt a highly rated recipe using the flavors they already have available.

I was kinda hoping a mod or one of the more well known mixers would chime in on if/how this could be done. I'd be willing to take it on but I have no clue how to proceed. It looks like there is enough interest that it could be done at least as a trial.

I really like this idea. It could be a good way to find our next 'holy grail' flavor (like Bronuts).

I must be the only one who thinks bronuts is meh at best

I'm just using it as an example of a popular flavour. I'm more of a fruit gal myself so I'm with you on the ‘meh’.

I'd like a monthly recipe box type subscription. Like, select your flavor size, and depending on your budget you can receive 1/15/30ml flavors to make that month's community recipe. Like one month it's bronuts, next month it's nana cream, etc. Maybe include some choices each month or logic allowing you to not receive the same flavors consecutively.

I'd just like to set it and forget it, but still taste the best of what everyone here comes up with.

I fucking love this idea. You have no idea, I've never bought into those like monthly random box of goodies websites, but this? This idea i could get behind.
