I've done a bad thing.

Morning (at least on the east coast) everyone. Some of you may know that I have been working on a Placid clone for quite a while and have gotten pretty close.

Here is my last iteration and its pretty solid but there is still something missing (imo) which I'll explain.

Placid clone v7

Strength: 3mg/ml
PG/VG: 12/88
Flavor total: 3.6 ml (12%)

A couple things pop out to me that are missing:

The original Placid seems a bit wetter
The original placid is more floral

So this brings me to the "I've done a bad thing" haha

I was sitting down watching some Bastard Executioner last night and thinking about my placid clone. How can I get it wetter I was thinking, I was just thinking about wet juiciness nothing else. Then I remembered that I had some Inewera Kaktus which I have never used before. So I put about .8 % in my 27ml left bottle I was vaping. Immediately I knew I did a bad thing. It was like all of a sudden I'm vaping perfume!

But, lesson learned here, it also somewhat tasted like placid. I will definitely be trying out a really small % of kaktus on my next batch.

My question to you guys is, how can I get it a little wetter.... I feel that the pear is really drying it out too much. Also you can ignore the sweetener it is not really necessary and doesn't affect the flavor much at that % anyway.

I've never tried Placid myself, but that seems like a lot of honeysuckle.

I agree, I've been working one on and off. Above 2% it just becomes overly harsh for me.

TFA Sweet Cream or FA Cream Fresh both add a moistness, for me. TFA adds a hint of vanilla, though.

Those limes and the pear are going to add a dryness and it's harder to balance out but consider adding 0.5% of a moist cream.

If you want that juicy mouthfeel imo the kaktus is the way forward. I use 1-3 drops per 10ml to completely change the mouth feel of the vape. To me at least sweet cream and cream fresh didn't give that wetness but does give a slight smoothing effect.

TFA Marshmallow maybe? I use it in my banana/pb/ry4 and it definitely helps moisten things up without imparting much flavor. I'd start at 2% and adjust from there

I don't necessarily get moistness from FA Fresh Cream but I do get less dryness when I use it, if that makes sense. I also have trouble with it muting other flavors but it makes its way into a lot of my mixes.

Some people like a small amount of saline solution too. I didn't notice much difference when I tried it and there was a little too much debate about its use in general back then so I gave up on it.

If you do add kaktus, remove the sweetener.

TFA Juicy Peach adds a juicy feel to me, and it's flavor profile is complimentary to what's already in there.

INW Cactus has a lot of volatile aromatics in it. Even after a day, it will settle down some. Made the same move with a Honey Pearry clone and it was way too floral after 0.5% Cactus addition. Tried it the next day and it was much improved. Give it a wee bit of time.

Wow.. I saw this on e-liquid recipes for some reason and made this exact recipe 10 minutes ago!

Solid clone.. I'd try a small amount of saline to get the wetness up.

Negative. I think I vaped it once off of a friends tank.. not sure though.

Super light and refreshing taste to this though! I might try to up the strawberry a little and might try a 50/50 Straw/Straw ripe combo.

I'm not really ready for it to be up on eliquid yet. But I've adjusted it some and am still messing with it. I ordered some Placid to test against again its been a while since I've had the original and sometimes I feel like my clone is headed in strange directions :P

Placid clone v9 :

4% Honeysuckle (TPA)
0.5% INAWERA Kaktus
0.5% Key Lime (TPA)
1% Lime Tahity Cold Pressed (FA)
2% Pear (TPA)
4% Strawberry (TPA)

Flavor total: 12%

I think the strawberry they use is Capella. It's a little bit sweeter than TFA and would fit in with their comment about using 4 different flavour brands.
