Don't be turned off by the reviews; that was the old version ;) I use this all the time for my own mixes. Any feedback or features let me know and I'll work them in the next update!

Dude, this app is awesome! Took me like 0.1 seconds to buy it after evaluating! Good job man! I'll make sure to drop a comment here if I can think of any improvements :)

thanks man! I'm actually working on an update right now. Gonna add a section for you to add some notes for the recipe too. I remember someone left that as feedback on my old version.

Ah yes! Notes! Didn't think about that one :) Definitely add notes.

Also, is there a way to measure by weight instead of ml? Otherwise that would be a really nice addition.

by kmrastegarabout 10 years ago

Probably if you can explain how that works. Ive never measured in weight. is it a straight conversion of ml > mg? Point me in the direction of some education and I can see what I can do. ha

Would the user still input flavouring as a percentage? Or would I need to cater for the calculator to take values such as "Desired amount (in grams)", flavour amounts (in grams) etc.

EDIT:

ah wait I think I have it worked out. I just need to know the specific gravity for the different ingredients (PG, VG, Flavouring, Nicotine solution) and do the math on the output page. I'll work on that for the next update. I should be able to manage once I work the math out. :)

Looks like a promising idea, but it has some pretty lackluster reviews.

Yeah that was the Windows 8 version; some were legit criticisms which I have since fixed (people don't tend to update their reviews) and some were saying the math didn't add up (I am yet to replicate this, I use the app myself daily). The windows 10 version was done from scratch so If you find any issues or have suggestions shoot me an email and I'll get right on it!

FYI: Just noticed a rare crash bug. If you haven't chosen a sort option at all in the recipebook, and then delete a recipe, the app will close after deleting that recipe. Weird bug but I caught it. I've fixed it now and am just about to upload it to the store (along with ability to make notes on a recipe). :)

Woop, I've owned the app for like 2 hours and I'm already getting a suggested feature added? What kind of sorcery is this!

by kmrastegarabout 10 years ago

haha well I'm not going out tonight so its either netlfix or code. :P

Any plans to add weight calculations? If you do, I'm buying it! EDIT: Also, a cool feature would be to have the ability to import recipes from eJuice Me Up

I do now! check the convos above; some other redditors have been a great help with that feedback :) It's on the schedule.

EDIT: Hmmm. let me see if that's possible. I'll add that to the to-investigate list. :)

OMG! hahaha. dammit. I'll fix it I promise. heheh. There is no spell check in visual studio; not an excuse I know. hangs head in shame

Another quick note, most people denote their VG first, then their PG. Why not reverse the order when creating a new recipe? Or better yet, why not just have 2 separate fields?

1 points

by kmrastegarabout 10 years ago

Ah tend to list them in that order because its alphabetical. The reason I had a drop down was just for ease of use (much quicker to whip recipes up). I built that app primarily for myself but if separate fields would be preferred there's no reason I cant do that instead.

Meh, I'm not on Windows 10 yet and now I can't get it for the reduced price :/

Windows store allows opportunities for setting reduced prices at various occasions. If its not reduced when you get Windows 10, and you don't think its work $1.99 ;), there will be further sales in future :)

Just submitted the update with ability to add notes. Working on weight now. I already have the math working, just need to implement it into the app itself. What works best?

a) Both weight and volumes shown on recipe card

b) switch between either or on the fly on recipe card

c) set desired output in "settings" (volume or weight) and only show one of them on the recipe cards.

Any plans on open sourcing this? I was going to write my own suite of apps into one program to help with DIY. It'd be fun to contribute to someone's work. Let me know if you throw it on github.

Latest update just passed certification so should be up in the store soon. This update adds mixing by weight, a new layout option for the recipe page, and some minor bug fixes.

If any users who are happy with the app could leave a review it would be much appreciated. Need to make up for those lackluster reviews for the old version. :P

It's great! Tried making a few mixes with the weight option and 30ml always turned out as a perfect 30ml! I'm only using this app for mixing now :)

I did come to think of an improvement for the app though. It would be really nice to have the ability to put the recipes in folders. Would like to have separate folders for stuff like good recipes, in the works and untested.

Otherwise an amazing app!

Thanks! Yeah folders or categories will be good. Ill look at adding that. First may add an extra flavour slot and a water/vodka/pga slot. Then change the ratios from dropdown to user input.

1 points

by Capa56almost 10 years ago

Ah yeah, the ratios would be a good idea to change. Comming from the guy who usually mixes 65% VG :)

OK so with the folders thing, it looks quite difficult to accomplish (at my skill level) but I thought of an idea; what about if you can set a category when you save the recipe. So you have the option to choose from "untested", "in testing", "complete". Something like that. Then on the recipe page there will be a filter option so you can filter recipes by category (or just show all of them). I think that would work and be quite efficient. What do you think?

2 points

by Capa56almost 10 years ago

That would definitely work :) As long as there is a way to be able to separate them a little bit! Nice to hear that you're still working on it :)

People downvoting; please leave feedback. I'm eager to add anything you think is missing! :)

Just submitted a new version with the following changes:

*Ability to mix using Water/Vodka/PGA

*Extra flavour slot (so 7 now)

*More ratios to select from (increments of 5% now)

*Bug fixes

I was planning on adding the free input ratios, but that would actually take a lot more code modification, and layout re-thinking. So it was quicker to provide more options for now, and I'll get the free input later for the ratios :)

New version should be up in the next 24 hours.
