After reading this subreddit for a while, gathering information over time, and experimenting with a small array of flavors, I've finally come up with two easy flavors to experiment with.
One of the main roadblocks to trying a lot of the recipes here are the wide variety of flavorings used. I wanted to get started making flavors a lot of the redditors here create, but I didn't have the budget to buy 15 different flavorings just two make two different recipes. I think a lot of the novices here will appreciate this.
These recipes have very few flavorings, which will help people who are new to the DIY game get started.
My very first original recipe turned out much better than expected.
Forest Guahiti: 4% Forest Fruit (FA), 3% Lime Tahiti (FA), 3% Sweet Guava (CAP)
This is the first version of my Forest Guahiti recipe. A great shake'n'vape fruity flavor, but the Lime Tahiti comes out a bit strong. I personally like it, as its something different. However, reducing the Lime Tahiti to 2% would bring out the other fruit flavors. I'm even considering adding 0.5% to 1% Koolada (forgot the brand, but not TFA) once it arrives in the mail.
My current flavor I'm experimenting with is Pomaberry.
Pomaberry: 10% Strawberry Ripe (TFA), 5% Pomegranate (CAP)
Decent shake'n'vape but I think the strawberry comes out a little too strong. Waiting for it to steep to see if the Pomegranate shows itself some more. Considering reducing the Strawberry Ripe to 7%, reducing the Pomegranate to 4%, then adding 4% Golden Pineapple (CAP) to give it more of a citrus flavor.
Any comments or suggestions would be gladly taken. I hope these two recipes help anyone on a small budget introduce themselves to the DIY game, and get started with something easy to tweak and play around with.
I would definitely go lower on the strawberry ripe with the second recipe. I find at higher percentages after it steeps it mutes flavors, loses flavor itself. Also, try out some combos of pomegranate and the sweet guava you have, I really dig pomegranate with tropical fruits. I've been playing with this recipe for a bit, only four flavors, but you could try substituting the juicy peach with strawberry ripe.
2.5% golden pineapple (CAP)
2.5 % juicy peach (TFA)
5% Pomegranate (CAP)
2.5% Sweet Guava (CAP)
Infact, I'll try making this tonight with the SR substitution and get back to you how it turns out.
I actually happen to have Juicy Peach (TFA) on the way. That's definitely a mix I'll have to try. I'll make it with the SR substitute today, then with the JP when it arrives. I'll also modify the second recipe to be 5% strawberry Ripe (TFA), 5% Pomegranate (CAP), and 5% golden Pineapple (CAP) just to see how it turns out. Thanks for the input!
Let me know what you think. Just as a heads I find golden pineapple (and TPA's pineapple as well) to be pretty strong and overpowering, so you may find that second one being mostly a pineapple tasting vape (not something I mind though, I'm big on fruit flavors).
I made this recipe with the Strawberry Ripe (TFA) substitution and let it steep for 7 hours. It's really good man. Thanks for the advice. Making a bigger batch tomorrow if its still good by tomorrow.
I didn't get around to making it last night, but I'll make some this weekend. I'm thinking the strawberry probably helps the pomegranate/red berry flavor come out more. I'm glad you like it man, keep me posted.
