Has anyone come up with a good elephant ear recipe?
submitted about 10 years ago by Actual_Insane

I thoroughly enjoy elephant ears on the rare occasions I am able to purchase one. I used to occasionally search for them on juice sites but never had any luck. Now that I started DIY a couple weeks ago, I wondered if I could mix it myself. Has anyone come up with a recipe for a juice that has the same taste as those delicious cinnamon-sugary treats?

2% FA Joy
1% INW Biscuit
1% FA Meringue
0.2% FLV Rich Cinnamon

Give it at least a week to steep.

Damn that's pretty close to what I made with my order of Joy :D (besides all the bronuts)

Can someone clarify what FA Joy actually is a concentrate of?

Wow. 2% Joy seems like a lot. I guess you actually want its flavor to be present here? Also, I thought elephant ears had cardamom in them, which would be hard to replicate with just cinnamon. You also would you want that texture of cinnamon sugar. Perhaps FLV Cinnamon Crunch could find a home here at a lower percentage, since it has that cinnamon sugar texture.

Although I've never heard of cardamom in fried dough, I've made this up swapping .5 FA cardamom for the .2 cinnamon, because it sounded good. I'll report back if it's anything worth reporting. :)

Maybe we are thinking of different things called elephant ears. The things I'm thinking of are a baked puff pastry.

Looks like a great place to start. I will have to order a few more flavors, but I am definitely going to give this a shot soon. Thanks a bunch!

No rich cinnamon, so I'm gonna sub in a tiny bit of FW Cinnamon Roll and probably add a little EM to sweeten it up a little further. Will report back if anyone cares to hear how it goes!

Thanks, It's quite good but a little to much cinnamon for me, I am going to try it again with a little less.

Is that anything like funnel cake?

Kind of, but not quite. Elephant ears are another name for fried (pizza) dough.

I don't have Joy, could I sub it with anything? Not even sure what the flavor profile for Joy is.

I don't think so, it has a unique flavor. To me, it taste like "Yuck".
