First recipe post: Hazelnut Mousse

Most importantly Thank You to my fellow DIYers on this thread, without your help it would have taken me years to get to the point I'm at with my mixes. I started mixing 5 months.

My premise for this recipe started out trying for a rich and creamy hazelnut custard. I had tried a recipe I found here for a dragonfruit milkshake named Dragonshake which was pretty good, but the creamyness is what I was after. So I started with the creams from that mix

*TFA Bavarian Cream 1%

*TFA VBIC 2%

*Cap VC 1.5%

and used these as the base for the hazelnut custard.

After a couple of iterations(with more to come), this is my current recipe

*TFA Bavarian Cream 1%

*FA Nut MIX .5%

*FA Hazelnut .75%

*TFA VBIC 2%

*CAP VC 1.5%

*EM(10% solution) .25%

*FA Cocoa 1%

*FA Caramel 2%

*FA Vanilla Bourbon .5%

After an overnight steep I get a slightly sweet hazelnut(meat and skin) on the inhale. The exhale is layered; first hazelnut meat followed by cocoa then caramel and finished with the taste and mouthfeel of hazelnut skin.

Day 2: The tang and zip of the Cap VC is starting to strengthen the richness of the flavor without overpowering. Its playing well with the FA hazelnut, though I may have to bump up the hazelnut to %1

Day 3: Tasting like a chocolate/hazelnut mousse, sprinkled with chopped nuts.

I start with 80VG and 3mg nic as my working base mix and added the recipe to that base. Once I finalize the final tweaks it will be for 80/20.

ooo have everything but FA vanilla bourbon. I have the TFA vanilla bourbon, so i'll see how that works. thanks for the recipe!

The vanilla is only in it to add depth and is undetectable as vanilla(by me, anyway), so .75% of TFA bourbon vanilla should work nicely.

Friendly heads up, when you get it the bottle will look like the cocoa powder has settled to the bottom 3rd of the bottle. . I called BCV scared that I got a bad one. They said this is completely normal and remember to shake the stuffing out of it before each use and that it was the nature of the cocoa solids used for the extraction.

good call....I looked at my Cocoa that was sitting for a while, low and behold there was that separation at the bottom, a light brown settling

EDIT: Mixing now, don't have the nut mix, so subbed .05% Acetyl Pyrazine(TFA) just to get that nutty note. LOVE my AP!

This sounds right up my alley. Great looking recipe, I'll make sure to try it! I'm missing the Nut Mix though so I'll use .5% of 5% AP instead.
