Flavorah Tasting Notes:
Hello everyone!
Since my tasting notes and recommendations for FLV Milk and Honey went over so well, I thought I’d dedicate some time last night and today to mixing up a bunch of my Flavorah flavors and getting some tasting notes done for them. Instead of tasting all of their flavors and posting little blurbs about each of them, I thought I’d focus on flavors that haven’t been talked about quite as much, and go a little more in-depth. I’m going to hit the character limit on Reddit for self-posts, so I’ll have to break this up into multiple posts. Here we go:
FLV Peanut Butter: (Tested at 1% and 1.25%)
Flavorah Peanut Butter has a very good reputation, and for good reason. Unlike some other peanut butter offerings, this is completely devoid of unnecessary sweetness, and instead plays on the saltiness of peanuts. What’s really interesting about this flavor is how clearly I can taste the red skins of the peanuts. It’s got that roasted peanut aroma and taste that’s hard to find in a lot of peanut flavorings. Too often peanut flavors is boiled down to that “standard nuttiness” profile. Flavorah instead opted for a peanut butter that is more akin to fresh, homemade peanut butter than something you would buy in a store (which are often laden with additional sweeteners and fats).
At 1% the peanut flavor is definitely noticeable, but it doesn’t strike me as something that would immediately dominate a mix. Instead, I imagine it will play a nice role in other nut mixes, and I’d recommend using it alongside almond flavors or apple flavors to get the most out of its saline characteristics.
I played around with percentages a bit, but after 1.25% it just becomes too strong as a single flavor in my opinion. However, at 1.25% it’s great in mixes where you want a lot of peanut backbone. I’d say this is a perfect amount for recipes that use a lot of warm spices like clove or cinnamon, as the peanut note really needs to stand up to those bold flavor profiles. I’d also say this would be the right percentage to start at for banana mixes, since banana notes tend to be very potent.
As a side note, this ages very well in mixes. I’ve had it steeping in my FLV Crossbones recipe for a little over a week and it’s still quite noticeable, and it does get much smoother with time.
Final thoughts- A very solid peanut flavor that skirts around the usual issues peanut butter notes have (where they either come off as too artificial tasting or just too sweet). So far it’s my favorite peanut flavor I’ve encountered. A very solid offering from Flavorah, 9/10.
FLV Spearmint: (Tested at 1%, 3%, and 4%)
Flavorah Spearmint is very true to its name. Unlike some other spearmint flavors, it actually tastes like spearmint, and not a mix of wintergreen or peppermint flavors alongside spearmint. This is a very straight-forward flavor, so there isn’t too much to say about it. It’s mildly sweet by itself, so it won’t need any additional sweeteners in a single flavor mix. This is a very smooth flavor, and is really quite unique in this way. The other mint flavorings I’ve come across both in DIY and cooking are almost universally a little too harsh on the throat/palette. So, if you want a really smooth mint-chocolate ice cream or grasshopper pie recipe, this is an automatic inclusion in my opinion.
This flavor lacks any cooling sensation in the lungs on inhale all the way up to 4%, so if you are looking for that signature peppermint cooling sensation, you’ll either have to really bump up the percentage, or look for a complimentary mint flavor to give that kick.
At 1% this is a very light mix, and definitely too light for a standalone mix. However, this could work if you wanted to add just a little mintiness to something.
At 3%, this flavor is fine for those wanting to use it in a chocolate mix or another mix where bold flavors are being added. It has just enough backbone to work, but I’m not sure it’s ideal for that kind of mix, as it is really just too smooth and…”nice,” if that makes any sense to be used alongside other ingredients.
I landed at 4% flavoring for a single flavor spearmint mix. Single flavor mixes are very subjective, and I wouldn’t fault anyone for bumping it up to 5-6% if they want a really in-your-face spearmint vape.
Final thoughts- A perfectly serviceable standalone flavor, but like most mint flavors, it’s not exactly compelling or particularly complex. I can’t fault it on that though, so it gets a 7.5/10.
FLV Cinnamon Crunch- (Tested at 3%, 4% and 4.5%)
Okay, I have to state right off the bat that this flavor is a huge winner for me. Flavorah Cinnamon Crunch is what has been missing in the “cinnamon toast crunch” flavor profile I’ve been searching for. The best part about it is that it’s a perfectly good standalone flavor, and really doesn’t need a single drop of additional cinnamon or bakery flavors to work perfectly.
What’s really interesting about this flavor is that, depending on how long you are vaping it for and at what wattage, it changes pretty significantly. If you are vaping it lightly or moderately, at anywhere between 20-55 watts, it’s a startlingly good cinnamon toast crunch flavor. What’s amazing about it is that Flavorah somehow managed to get the texture of the cinnamon-sugar coating on the outside of the squares into this flavoring. It’s uncanny. If you are vaping it extensively at moderate to higher wattage ranges, it turns into more of a bakery flavor, with definite yeasty undertones that remind me more of a cinnamon roll with icing.
I started off testing this at 3% due to some recommendations from other flavor reviews, and I understand why this is where so many people started off. It’s the perfect spot to start if you don’t want the cinnamon aspect to be in the foreground. The flavor is a tad light for me at this level, but if you wanted to use this flavor as a compliment to another base flavor, I could see it working very well at 3%.
At 4% and 4.5%, this is an absolute star! I made a mix of this at 4.5% and combined it with FLV Cream at 3% and I’ve had a hard time putting it down.
Final thoughts- I don’t want to go on ad nauseam about it, so just buy it and enjoy. One of my favorites from the line, a perfect 10/10.
FLV Pink Guava- (Tested at 5%)
I wanted to fit in FLV Pink Guava to my tasting notes/reviews because it got a lot of positive press from /u/botboy141 and I thought some of you might want another opinion. First off, as Flavorah has even hinted at in the past, this isn’t a guava flavor. If you are looking for that tropical fruit flavor, you are going to be disappointed. That being said, FLV Pink Guava is an excellent citrus flavor, that sways more toward a mix between pink grapefruit, lychee (real lychee, not candied lychee flavoring), and tart white grapes than anything tropical.
At 5% this is quite nice as a standalone flavor, though some Ethyl Maltol is a nice addition to round out the tartness from the grapefruit note. I’d say this could definitely see a lot of use in fruit mixes that need a little acidic kick, or alongside other citruses like lemon and orange. Id’ recommend pairing it with strawberry, watermelon, or lychee flavors to get the most out of its mixing potential. I have a hunch that it might not play nice with custards and creams, but I haven’t tested it yet.
One thing I want to note is that I didn’t get any of the throat hit that some other testers have gotten. For me it’s rather tame in that regard, but your mileage may vary.
Final thoughts- This is definitely an interesting flavor, and one that is worth having in your arsenal,** 8/10.**
FLV Peach- (Tested at 1%, 3%)
With FLV Peach, I feel I distance myself a little bit from the other flavor notes I’ve read on this one. To me, it’s a very strong peach flavor that aligns itself more toward the fresh, fleshy peach side of the equation instead of the peach rings/candied peach area (at least at lower percentages). Once you start getting into the 3-4% range it does change a bit though. As for the overall flavor itself, it’s certainly peachy, but it has some nice background notes that remind me of dried apricots.
At 1% this is a very realistic, fleshy peach. It’s not going to work as a standalone flavor at this percentage since the flavor is more subtle, but I can definitely see this finding a home in pretty much any peach mix I make at between 1-2%. It will add nice depth to other peach flavors!
At 3%, this starts to transition more into the artificial/candied peach territory. It gets a little too sweet for me personally, but would definitely stand up to bolder flavors, as well as bakery/nutty flavors. However, as you continue to vape it, it does settle down into a more subtle flavor again that brings back the fresh peach feeling, and I imagine as it steeps it will settle down more into this territory, so I’m inclined to give it a good score.
Final thoughts- This is a worthwhile peach to have, and at lower percentages it really shines for me. 8/10.
FLV Greek Yogurt- (Tested at 1%, 2%, 3.5%, 5%)
Boy do yogurt flavors worry me. I’m love Greek yogurt, and eat it almost daily as a healthy snack, but it never really appealed to me as something I wanted to vape. Most of the time I am right, as the flavors often come off as overly tart, and have just a hint of vomit. Fortunately for my palette, Flavorah have managed to wrangle the tangy terror of yogurt into a rather pleasant experience on the whole.
At 1%, this is a little hard to detect. I do get slight hints of creamy goodness, alongside a very, very slight twinge of twangy tartness. At this low of a percentage, I could see it fitting into just about any cream based mix, or even in cake recipes to add some acidulation.
At 2%, some sweetness starts to peak its way into the mix. It’s still velvety smooth and really coats the tongue in a cloud of slightly tart creaminess. At this percentage, I could still see it fitting into cream based recipes very nicely, and I’d be willing to bet that it would provide a nice counterbalance to eggy custards. It’s a pretty nice base on its own, but it does lack some character that other creamy bases possess, so I feel at 2% it’s best as an addition.
At 3.5% is where this flavor starts to show all it has to offer. Thankfully, it’s still not very tart, but rather goes in the direction of the smoothness factor I mentioned before. It differs from FLV Cream in that it isn’t quite as dairy milk like, and instead tastes a tad more “matured,” and lends itself better to being a solid base for lighter flavor profiles. I’d recommend playing around with this in the 3.5-5% range, though it is worth noting that these creamy flavors tend to need quite a bit of steep time, so it might be best to wait a bit at 2-4% and see how things age.
At 5% fresh, I get a lot more of a buttermilk flavor, minus the overwhelming acidity that buttermilk possesses. This would be ideal in a pancake recipe or something featuring other buttery notes. Again, I will caution that it has the potential to become a bit stronger as it ages, so be weary.
Final thoughts- This is such a refreshing change from the usual garbage yogurt flavors I’ve tried in the past. It’s given me hope that yogurt based vapes are in my future, 9/10.
FLV Banana- (Tested at 1%, 1.75%)
Banana is a really tricky flavor to get right. I’ve never encountered a banana flavoring that tastes anything like a banana, and I think that’s because real bananas have a very soft flavor profile, and artificial banana tends to boss other flavors around, kicking notes out left and right until it’s center stage.
At 1%, FLV Banana is surprisingly light and gives off the taste of an overripe banana that would be used in banana bread since it’s already past being appealing to eat out of hand. That’s not to say it tastes rotten, just “aged.” It’s actually a very appealing taste, but I have a hard time finding a place for it in a recipe, as unlike most bananas, it’s rather tame and subtle.
At 1.75%, it’s more like the banana flavor I’ve come to expect: good, but with that definite artificial banana flavor hanging around in the background. This is disappointing, as I had high hopes after a good showing at a lower percentage, but it’s more of the same banana flavor we’ve all come to know. It’s still a perfectly serviceable banana, and I’ll probably use it over TFA’s offering just because it’s a tad more realistic, but it’s only slightly better. I do have some hope that as it steeps it will die down to be more like the overripe banana of the 1% test, so there might be a hidden gem here.
After a week of steeping in one recipe I’ve created, it does soften a bit, but it’s still more artificial tasting…so maybe it needs two weeks.
Final thoughts- A bit disappointing, but it could have definitely been worse,** 6.5/10.**
FLV Rich Cinnamon- (Tested at one drop per 15 ml and one drop per 30mL)
Buy it.
Oh, I ’m sorry, did you want a review? Ugh, alright fine! Lots of praise coming.
Yes, it’s $12.50 for a 15mL, and no, I don’t care. This is without a doubt in my mind the best cinnamon you can buy. Want something for cakes and cookies that gives a nice, rich depth of flavor? Rich Cinnamon. Want something that adds a nice spice to drink/alcohol vapes? Rich Cinnamon. Want a flavor to come up, give you a kiss on the cheek, and cradle you in its arms while telling you everything is going to be alright? Well, you might need a therapist, but Rich Cinnamon is really damn good.
At one drop per 15mL you get a very lifelike, strong cinnamon flavor that is both spicy and slightly sweet, with hints of nutmeg, allspice, and black peppercorns way in the background.
At one drop per 30mL, you get a perfect cinnamon to add to anything that requires a spicy, bold flavor. This one bottle will probably last you your entire lifetime, and possibly your children’s lifetimes. It’s really concentrated. I don’t know how Flavorah did it, but they could charge twice this price and I’d gladly pay it.
Final thoughts- I think you get the idea, 10/10.
Red skins! That's what I was trying to say in my PB review. I forgot what the peanut skin from fresh shelled peanuts was called. It's a slightly bitter note, but necessary for a fresh peanut flavor. Nice to see people confirming my infatuation with Cinnamon Crunch and Greek Yogurt(just yogurt when I sampled it) flavors as well. Did you happen to get milk and honey?
Gremlin had an open bottle of Yogurt & threw me a 5ml sample after I asked!

- 2% Yogurt FA
- 1% Raspberry INW
- .5% Peach FLV
- .5% White Peach FA
Fucking. Delicious. nomnomnom
EWWWWWWW FA yogurt is too tart for me. And you lucky fucker getting INW raspberry. And I got my sample when FLV sent out emails saying to ask for a sample of new flavors when making your next order with them.
Just the right amount of tartness that im looking for =p
lol i had it before, this time i got it and biscuit, joy, choco glazed doughnut, reg glazed doughnut, all the shit for milfs milk, glory/storm, INW Lime, & some other oddball flavours all in one go. I remember thats how you got the samples. I've been meaning to place a small order for blue/boysenberry & rich cinnamon to snag lemonade/yogurt samples but i blew my load on the labor day sales + a scale/not ghetto mag.mixer
Great writeup - thanks.
I gotta get off my butt and order that PB, since I love PB vapes.
Also - rich cinnamon - hands down the best. I love that stuff, but I think it might affect my breathing a bit (probably didn't help that I went through about 10 mls of juice in a day...). Did you notice any effect like that?
Thanks a lot for posting these. I'm glad I picked up the Cinnamon Crunch! I will have to put that one on the short list to mix up. I'm excited about PB too. I like my sweetened grocery store peanut butter so I'm hoping I can fake it up a little w some FLV Milk and Honey (/u/skiddlzninja 's suggestion) FW Hazelnut and FA Meringue (just guessing on the last two, haven't mixed it yet).
I want to get a (one) Banana flavor and can't decide between FLV, FA or MF. Any experience with FA or MF Banana? I don't want Banana Runts.
They are all banana runts. Tranceinate says MF is different, so you could check them out.
Damn. Thanks a lot for the tips! Was thinking about getting FA Banana so I could make /u/NotCharlesManson 's What The Fuji recipe but if FA is runty I might try the MF and sub it in the WTF recipe.
Or I'll do what I always do and buy both, hate one or both and they will just take up space in the cabinet. Good thing I'm working on a bigger cabinet!
MF is real-banana flavour. It's kind of soft like a real banana though, so you'll use it slightly higher than other MF flavours. I use it around 1%
FA banana is more realistic than Cap/TFA. Much more realistic, but it does have a background note that reminds me of LaffyTaffy. Not Runts. CAP banana is straight up Runts. You'll be happy with FA/MF banana. Haven't tried FLV, but its supposed to be somewhat similar to TFA Banana Ripe, albeit a lot cleaner.
FA Banana according to HiC
>FA Banana:
>Banana can be used at higher percents than many other FA fruits - up to 4-5% standalone is not unreasonable. This is most realistic, natural tasting banana flavoring you'll find. Like a real banana, it's not a bold flavor. This is yellow banana, not green, not brown, not strongly sweet. If you want realistic flavor of yellow banana, it's perfect.Ideal in smoothie recipes.Add a tiny bit of FA Walnut to accentuate Banana.Other sweet flavors can give a “riper” banana flavor, but this is not a candy type.
To me it always just tasted a little strange.. like a baked banana. It's pretty good when combined with other bananas though
I was about to say that here, lol.
NudeNic Banana Cream Pie is also banana cream, & it's NOT candyish like LA. Edit for fucking NOT. Because I forgot. It's realistic as fuck & SO much better than TFA.
FA banana isn't Runtsy like Cap Banana. FA Banana has a background note that reminds me of LaffyTaffy, but it's a lot more realistic than Cap.
