Yeah, I didn't realize how strong that shit is, added about 5% to a mix I was trying, and that is pretty much all I taste. :( My question is, is there a cherry flavor that DOESN'T taste like the bottom of a Robitussin bottle or used for cough drops? And why would they think that is a good way to do cherry flavor?
Searchbar for cherry and you'll see way more opinions. Cherry is complicated.
I did, I just saw a lot of posts asking for help or complaining. Ill maybe dig through a bit more, but I figured I would just call it out how I saw it.
yup, cherry is a complicated beast, much like a good chocolate. What brand are you using? Because that makes a HELLUVA difference in percentages, and if its EVER gonna taste like NOT robitussin.
Check out this from /u/thewomberchomby. The INW cherry conc. is great @ 0.5%. It tastes kind of like a cherry jolly rancher to me, and I've read other people saying similar things.
If you're working on a somewhat complex recipe where cherry isn't a big player you can add a little strawberry and and/or blueberry to round it out a bit.
Haha, since they probably use these same flavorings to make cough syrup taste like cherries, that is why we connect this flavor to the medicine. Kind of like turkey legs and ham, since that is the way ham is cooked, we think the turkey tastes like ham ;)
I still would love to find a kiss the ring recipe that didn't remind me of cough syrup.
