Last week I shared my vanilla custard recipe on here, and it turned out wonderful. With that same batch I also made a blueberry custard version, that I had let steep until today before trying it. Well, it's probably even better than my vanilla custard. Its damned delicious.
TFA vanilla custard - 8%
TFA blueberry extra - 4%
TFA graham cracker clear - 3%
TFA Bavarian cream - 2%
I know you guys tend to like TFA blueberry wild over the extra, and I have both, but I like the sweet dessertyness of the extra. You could probably swap them out if you'd like without much difference though, as the custard is the main course here. Tastes like blueberry cobbler with some ice cream. Graham cracker clear continues to be one of my favorites. Also, in case you missed my vanilla custard recipe:
TFA vanilla custard - 12.5%
TFA graham cracker clear - 3%
TFA Bavarian cream - 2%
That's all folks. Both are shake and vape approved, but custards improve with age. Won't get any harshness up front with either, but the blueberry will most likely start to meld better with the custard after a week or so. I didn't try the blueberry up front just because I was so in love with the vanilla. Hope you guys enjoy.
Finally! I have all the flavors for a recipe someone else posted! I shall make it, ~~and say that I invented it~~ and, uh, give you credit...
Hey man, I'm no vendor. Have at it! But you better tell me how shitty... er delicious it is.
Aw crap, I just sat down to make this and realized I have CAP vanilla custard, not tfa, thoughts??
I can never taste this blueberry..
My blueberry base is
FA bilberry 1% FW blueberry 2% LA blackberry .5%
This is amazing to me anyways
I cant get any of FA/LA flavors in my country sooo.. :( Im going to order FW one today and few others to try, thanks for sharing
better solutions:
For my preferred blueberry base (B^3): CAP Blueberry (for sharp top notes) 40% to TFA Blueberry Wild (sweeter mid notes that don't come through solo) 60%, just substitute into recipes for TFA BB at normal percents to start with. If you like BB Extra more, as OP mentioned he does, you could probably use that instead of Wild the same way -- I know at least it doesn't clash with CAP and the strengths are similar.
You can add up to 1% FA Bilberry (for a more natural BB flavor) or up to 2% FLV Blueberry (candy/general blueberry notes) to recipes on top of the aforementioned B^3 to pull it in either direction, or just use more of the base if it's not strong enough (I wouldn't exceed 15% B^3 though)
Yeah it is weaker than blueberry wild, but it's definitely more of a dessert berry. It tastes just like the goo in blueberry cobbler for me.
It's not that tbh, blueberry extra doesnt have taste at all to me, but it's giving a nice sweet taste. Blueberry wild by itself doesnt have taste at all too, BUT it's giving a blueberry aftertaste on exhale, wich is really nice.
Any idea if I can replace TFA vanilla custard with capella vanilla custard?
I believe cap VC requires a less percentage, but I dont see why you couldnt.
Alright! Little fun fact, just the day before your post I thought about trying sweet/custard juice, but wasn't too sure where to start. Just ordered the ingredients. ;) It better be good!
Nice recipes! I hope you posted them in the monthly recipes thread. I like your style. Any reason you chose the TFA VC over the CAP? No judgement, just curious -- when I'm looking for that profile, I tend towards CAP as I've always found the TFA slightly more artificial tasting, but I really don't mix custard as a leading note too often.
I agree with you about TFA Graham Cracker Clear being a great flavor -- I have CAP's Graham Cracker too but I use the TFA one much more. While CAP is more realistic and accurate when you want the taste of a graham cracker itself, TFA's is a superior flavor to blend into other recipes, which makes it more useful than a flavor that really tastes like graham crackers, along the lines of CAP.
