The gentlemen on the phone was very helpful. He stated that nicotine does separate from pg and vg so some shaking is necessary, but prior to opening the bottle, as you don't want to shake it with oxygen in it.
I realize some oxygen getting into the bottle is going to happen, that's just the nature of doing it yourself.
He also stated that refrigeration or freezing won't stop the oxidation process, but that keeping air out will. Nicotine can hold up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. His advice to me for both storing nicotine and eliquid was to purchase a cork pop used for opening wine. These are made with medical grade argon, which will compress the air out. Just one or two spritzes will keep nicotine fresh after you've mixed for the day, and will also help juices steep much better as well.
I also probably could have went about my business and continued to use nic as I have been and not noticed a single difference.
Just some food for thought.
I've monitored temperatures in various cabinets and drawers and have reached temps above 80 degrees even in air conditioned rooms (due to sunlight in windows, computers nearby, etc).
I keep my nicotine in the freezer to reduce the risk of the sun cooking a kitchen cabinet and oxidizing my nicotine.
Argon is a fantastic idea but few people will do it every time. I won a Coravin auction but never played with it.
I use the little wine argon stuff when I break my nic down.
I take my liter and break it down into 120ml amber glass bottles, add some argon spray, put the lid on and place in the freezer. I pull out the 120ml at a time which lasts about 2 weeks worth of orders depending on volume.
Never had an issue with nic oxidizing and it's simple enough, takes me all of 10 minutes when I get a new shipment in.
Exactly. It takes almost no time to do it right.
I have tasted probably 500 DIY mixers' eliquids in the past year, and 70% of them have oxidized nicotine and don't even know it. One guy I work with was bitching for months that ALL his flavors sucked and I told him to make any of them nic free and report back. "Whoa, this tastes great!" Yeah, because you're storing your nic on a counter where the sun beats down on it for 2 hours every afternoon.
Do you use the spray bottle Argon that looks like cooking spray?
Side question, because you're Botboy: Do you have any suggestions on caps? I have plenty of the ones with cones on them, and it seems to get a good seal, but I always have an issue with over tightening them. I would like to be able to really crank them down, but when I do, they unseat and pop off the threads. I even had one cap crack on the side.
Or is this a bottle issue?
> I keep my nicotine in the freezer
you mean your unused batches, right?
I only got 50ml & threw it into the fridge (in a ziplock). should i split it in 2?
That's an awesome system, but 300? I'm not averse to an impulse buy that that's a bit much even for me.
I paid $70 lol. Auction listing had many spelling errors so no bids. I always search auction sites for misspellings.
Bought a $6000 tool once for $60 because they listed it totally wrong.
hmmm. im getting so much mixed advice. I dont know what the hell to believe
CXTC is VERY different from NudeNicotine. They fill and seal there bottles in (what I assume is) an argon chamber, since the nicotine never touches oxygen until you open it. And as far as freezing it goes, there is no point if you can refrigerate it instead. There is no difference between keeping the bottle at 28F and 40F. Most just freeze it because it's rare to have open food in a freezer, and that just gives me bad vibes having nic around fresh fruit and veggies.
FWIW,
I've used my 120ml bottle of nude nic with no problems other than one instance where I had an off taste. I believe it was because I didn't shake well enough after adding my nicotine.
I've had my bottle for 3~ months and no other problems. I share it with a friend and it's all been good imo.
I'm still trying to work out why 500ml of 100mg (PG) is $84.99, and 120ml of the same is $16.99
Are you limited to 1 sample?
nope.. probably packaging.
i was suppose to receive mine today and it says delivered on my tracking but its not delivered :( the usps guy swung around to make another delivery for my flavor concentrates though. then i went to ask him and he drove off. saw him at the liquor store after :(
Placed my order with them a few days ago. I ordered 200 1ml syringes I'll measure. 9ml in each syringe, cap the syringes and seal them in a ziploc before storing them in the freezer. Then I can just grab 1 syringe per 30ml and squirt it in. Hopefully this will reduce oxidation and will save me tons of time since I won't have to thaw and shake every time.
Once upon a time I bought the whole line of Valkyrie Vapor eliquids.
All of them tasted like the Goodyear tire factory. In the trashcan they all went. For the last 2 years I've pondered how this came to be.
Nicotine dissolves the rubber of syringe plungers.
A friend has one, she said works like a charm for her wine
