Shaking is bullshit anyway, no amount of shaking made my nude nic not 190mg.
I def tried to get that out there yesterday. If you're ordering 100MG, you shouldn't have to worry.
Not neccesarily true. Nicotine molecules are ligher than both pg/vg, so floats to the top. That top layer is concentrated/ not diluted by the rest of the ingredients (pg/vg). I actually thought that nicotine molecule would be "heavier", so I thought they would settle to the bottom, but I was wrong. It settles on top, so when we dont shake, and syringe ourselves nicotine from that top layer, there is a chance its more concentrated as it is not diluted with the vg/pg.
Then this would be true of all e-liquids, especially ones that sit for a long time, and therefore there would be common knowledge that the first drip off a fresh bottle is going to be extra harsh.
Sorry, I don't buy it. It may introduce a small variance (5-10% +/- I will MAYBE grant) but regardless I expect a company selling 100mg nic solution to homogenize it properly before they sell it.
And again, no amount of shaking would have made that bottle I got be less than 190mg/ml.
I think it is true for all elquids. Has nothing to do with nudenic or any other brand. I dont know that back story on this post, only a pic that doesnt say to shake. This post seems to be another bash on nudenic and there have been many since the went into business (i think maybe even one from you way back in the day?) Anyways, I think all nic companies need to be more careful. There isnt one company out there so far that has no complaints made against them. They are all subpar on one level or another. The most common complaint i have seen against nude nic is improper tritation on their part. That either says to me that they are sloppy, or not shaking well before they mix. As in...the have a gallon of 1000. They test it. Its correct. Then, over the course of time time, they syringe out (from the top) the correct amount to make a 100 mg bottle of nic for us...bit because they didnt shake, they syringed out undiluted nic - nic that is too strong, even though their intial test on the gallon was "correct" and selling us a "too strong" bottle.
I forget which manufacturer told me that nic molecules are lighter than pg/vg. I want to say that it was trustworthy, a chemist background. At the time, I remember trusting the source, but it was long ago, so I cant back it up with facts.
Oh, and too address the first drip of a bottle...
The first drip on a bottle is either coming through a glass dropper, in which the entry suction point is the bottom of the bottle, so in effect, the layer with the least amount of nicotine. Or, in the case of plastic squeeze bottles, the act of tipping it upside down, literally displaces the top layer and botttom layers during the turn. Try it with oil and water. As soon as you tip it, the oil will move from the top of the bottle, to the bottom and your first squeeze will be of water even though the oil is on the top.
Let's add it in there, this is a GREAT suggestion /u/crappy_guitarist! Where would you like to see this placed on the bottle? Below the PG/VG ratio or on the product warning itself?
Just asked around the lab and everyone on the packaging line at the moment is leaning towards the warning label, but thought we'd ask here!!!
With medicines it's usually put at the start of the directions for use, but since that doesn't really apply here I'd suggest putting it at the start of the warnings. The phrasing I see most often is simply "Shake well before use." which correctly suggests shaking every time you are about to use the product.
Kudos for being receptive to the idea. It does seem to need mentioning with the number of people who don't think of it themselves.
Personally I think it should go on it's own tag by itself in bold. reading either
"WARNING: SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE"
OR
"WARNING: SHAKE THE SHIT OUT THIS BITCH"
personally I prefer the second one.
Your production team is working at 2:30am? No wonder you guys are fucking up constantly
edit: Looks like the fanboys showed up, this post was at +5 points about 20 minutes ago.
If I had to summarize the podcast: Amalgamation, introduction, NEWS!, /u/DrMcLovens calling /u/crappy_guitarist a fuckboi, outro.
Can't wait for round 2! Crappy vs mcloven in a diy or die death match!
Tune in next week for the Grudge Match
Seems about right. Good work /u/crappy_guitarist. I'm glad my show brought about some change already. Plus, amalgamation is such a sweet word.
well here's what i gathered so far:
- according to /u/skiddlzninja, Carolina Xtract doesnt have a warning either.
- According to /u/YelnatstreboR, Liquid Barn does.
"Hotspots" is such a load of garbage, yet it's still propagated here as truth.
I don't know either way myself. I mean if it's a particulate and doesn't fully dissolve into solution, then of course it would be heterogenous. But if it's fully in solution, then it diffuses evenly to all parts of the bottle. In the second case, it would not form hot spots and wouldn't even need to be shaken. Suspension - shake. Solution - no need to shake.
Care to elaborate?
Not really.
As of right now I've been downvoted to 0 for interrupting the upstroke on the nude nic circlejerk. And, discussion of L-nicotine is against the rules of this sub. So what's the point?
Just know that you're not wrong.
who gives a fuck about upvotes? Im here to learn & better my DIY experience, not to bash or circlejerk. I havent really had bad experiences with Nude Nic (besides the shipping delay, which was understandable). can i PM you? Im really curious.
Just shake everything man! I even shake gallons of pg/vg before I put them into glass bottles haha
No need to shake pure PG or VG. It's not like VG separates from itself. Am I wrong?
Crap I've gone through half a bottle of my 100mg/mL, 120mL bottle. And haven't shaken once....good thing I listened to this podcast.
Context: today on Wayne Walker's podcast, I was bashed because I didnt know that nic needed to be shaken. Here's your proof.
/u/Enyawreklaw... You can contact nude nicotine if you wish.
Edit: I'M NOT FUCKING CRAZY! I SHOOK THE SHIT OUT OF THE BOTTLE AND MADE ANOTHER BATCH. NOW IT'S HARSH AF. I KNOW MY MATH IS CORRECT!
p.s. fa mango and FA watermelon do not go well together. :(
It's on the sticker on the bottom of the bottle.
/u/nudenicotine Love your product homie. but it should say shake. I thought it did. will still look at my bottle later lol.
and ok crappy your right homie :)
edit: if it is on the bottom that is better. but it should be better displayed. still gotta get to the office and get my bottle and post pics lol
It's not on the bottom, and I am not right. I should have shaken it. I just had no clue, despite all of my reading.
<3
You don't need to shake your nicotine bottles. For all your people saying you feel the difference...pour out some of the nicotine into a separate bottle. Check bottle for separation of nicotine from vg or pg. Nicotine is darker than vg/pg so it should show up as a dark layer over time. I've never seen this happen, nor have I seen it happen in finished eliquid bottles(this is over 1million bottles that I've bottled.) Let's stop propagating this nonsense.
you bottled a million bottles?
