Hey guys, so I am going to buy some bottles. I am going to buy 200+(to get a better price. Plus I sell to friends and coworkers and would like to expand to others.) so I need to make a decision before putting down some money.
The reason for this is to see what people are using. I see alot of companies using glass. I personally dont like glass bottles with the child proof drippers. I have trouble getting the cap off plus I have broken a few.
Is there a reason for the glass vs the plastic? Since I broke the glass bottles I have purchased unicron bottles and have been transferring my juices into them. I like them but I don't see them used.
I really don't have a set question. Just trying to see why glass is so popular? Does the liquid/nic effect plastic bottles?
I guess it depends on the price-point of your liquids. If you are selling them near the $20 mark, then I would assume that delivering them in glass bottles is kind of expected. But if they are being sold to consumers around the $10 mark, LDPE bottles are not unreasonable. Unicorn bottles are much more convenient than the glass/rubber droppers we are used to.
In terms of flavor-absorption of LDPE, I don't think that would matter so much when selling to customers. My worry is maybe the glue on labelling can seep through the plastic, which is why glass would be preferable, if that were the case.
Thank you. I don't mind paying the extra money for the glass bottles really the difference I have gotten from a distributor is 10 cents difference per bottle. BUT shipping on 15ml and 30ml with there minimum order quantity will be 200 dollars cause of the weight.
I would like to also sell 50ml and ~100ml so that in glass would be stupid.
I notice that plastic tends to absorb some of the flavor, this makes the poor for reuse. Other than that plastic is perfectly viable. I think that people tend to see glass as "premium" and are willing to pay more for it, despite it being less convenient.
Edit: Tinted glass bottles also prevent nicotine and pg decay (both decay in sunlight), I'm not sure about vg decay.
Roman and flipwich give you good points for both of them.
I personally am using Cobalt Blue glass bottles because of the nicotine and flavor decay. Also, they are damn pretty =D
The quality of the glass is something to look at - cheap bottles usually come with cheap caps (nothing is more frustrating than a cap I can't get off the damn bottle), and those tend to seem more breakable. My current supply is rock solid - it's what I used in the past when I did bath products, and I love the company. I drop those suckers on stainless steel counters and corners all the flipping time and they hold up like champions.
If your price point is lower, like Flipwich said, you can still do something in glass - but you're selling to people, so you can also do some market research and ask what your customers prefer. You might find that they prefer plastic, or wish you'd throw in a syringe or something like that.
I really do feel like if it's a higher price point juice (14 - 15 and higher), glass is one thing that helps make it "feel" premium, but that's also a psychological thing. Shit juice can come in plastic or glass.
Some feedback in the forums are that customers sometimes feel "cheated" by the glass bottles - like they get shorted for the eliquid - but I think those people would feel cheated no matter the dispersal method, honestly. They still claim that Milkman doesn' t have 30ML in it, even after the video came out.
Just promise me that you'll never, ever use the bottles that this company uses that my husband ordered. I get the brand and motif they are going for, but this pump/squirt lotion style bottle is AWFUL for both my tanks AND my dripper. (Xanic Blanc)
Would you mind referencing the company that supplies your cobalt blue glass bottles? Sounds like they make quality product.
Not him, but the ones I buy are from Amazon and are excellent quality:

Thank you so much for the info. I was looking into the blue ones. They are very pretty. Do you mind telling me your supplier? I have asked a company for some samples so I have to wait for those to try them out. Those child proof caps are such a pita to open. Plus good luck trying to do it one handed.
I will be getting a filling machine so I'll make sure I don't rip off my future clients.
