Look at the bullshit that's going on in ECR. So much fucking animosity. And for what? Electronic cigarettes. Tobacco Harm Reduction. Abstinence from smoking. It makes no God damned sense. When you have a community that is soley based on consumerism and spending every cent you have, you get entitled, irritated, and desperate members.
This community is the best to be apart of if you're a vaper, or just someone trying to quit cigarettes. Extremely helpful, motivational, inspiring. We all thrive on eachother's creations, which in turn breeds a tight knit community. I love watching someone fine tune their recipe with the help of others. This kind of shit is what makes me want to contribute as much as I can. And I'm sure I'm not the only one feels that way.
This hobby attracts a certain kind of person...a matured one. And if someone comes in here who isn't as mentally adept, you guys make damn sure to let that person know of the kind of tone that goes on in here. Is it perfect? No, I'm sure we come off as pretentious, snobby, know-it-alls from time to time. And we've had our fair share of bullshit (is /u/Badgerfacedcat back yet?).
So all I'm saying is, when you go to mix up your next juice or recipe, remember where you got it from. Remember the amount of help and fucking savings you gained from being apart of this entire community. Remember the amount of friends you made from this sub alone. Because look at the other options. It's not so pretty out there anymore.
<3 kisses mwah

I stopped checking ECR. I have saved so much money in doing so. No more impulse buys (joose sales), no more buying the latest tanks and devices. Buying a couple $3-$5 bottles of flavors a month has saved me lots of money.
It's SO nice being out of the mod race.
The only issue is that I had to buy a new mod, and had no idea what was on the market because I don't check that cesspool.
People get really angry when the vendors stop posting holiday sales and giveaways.
and then some people get mad at too many giveaways and sales on the front page.
I have never reaped more free analytic data about holiday sales interest ever in my entire life on any social network. It was, by far, better than twitter.
I will make 5 figures off selling it to vendors for next Labor Day, lol.
I am STILL working on the data. It's massive.
ECR helped me a lot when I first got into vaping a couple years ago, but I can barely stand the place anymore. There's too much confirmation bias when it comes to eliquids ("Why is this cheap juice harsh and peppery?" "ITS NOT, I DONT KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT! THEY GAVE ME FREE SHIT AND I LOVE THEM") Too many arguments over devices, or people "doing it wrong". Too much hate in general. It's lost it's subjectivity, and because of that, I don't feel inclined to check it out as often.
I think the fact that this place is a little snippy to people who don't read the sidebar, don't search for answers that have been asked hundreds of times, etc. is somewhat of a good thing. It's a gate keeper, in a way. The snippy answers are usually accompanied with links to the information they're looking for, but it does help sort out the folks who want everything done for them--- or at least give them the message that everything they're looking for is here, but they need to put in the work and try to contribute. Once people have done their homework, everyone here is very helpful.
There's no joy in here. I ordered so much that now joy goes into everything. I'm going to do it.
I keep seeing references to this pop up, what is it? Why is everyone making jokes about it?
/u/enyawreklaw made this kickass recipe called "Bronuts". It's awesome, no doubt. But it called for FA JOY, which not alot of us had. So a few went overboard and ordered huge amounts even though it's only necessary in small quantities (~1%) in juices.
Overly long explanation over.
>thanks for this opportunity I hope I win the whole $5 worth of juice ur giving away what yeah I am underage how did you guess was it my total lack of punctuation
Yeah, ECR has reached Facebook levels of ignorance and fail. I never got too deep into ECF or other forums. So /r/DIY_eJuice is my only regular haunt.
>Look at the bullshit that's going on in ECR
What bullshit?
One guy posted a thread about quitting vaping and the whole world comes crumbling down.
You have a link to this soap opera?
link 1160+ comments geez
lol, he was a douche
He might have been harsh, but he's also completely correct. E-cig communities, by and large, are a cancer. The kind of people who hang around brick and mortars are usually smelly, socially awkward outcasts with one or more serious psychological disorders.
It's a fucking nicotine delivery system, not a lifestyle.
There's also people bitching and whining about the giveaways in there - especially after the labor day sales posts. People are whining like "If you don't contribute, vendors shouldn't let you win", but they are complete tools and people are afraid to contribute, so it's this vicious circle. It's a bunch of 18 year old kids eating each other up over who's got the biggest whatever, and a bunch of 30 year old kids rolling eyes and stoking flames.
For me, vaping101 and this community have been the most helpful.
I do really love the community around /r/DIY_eJuice. Everyone I've ever talked to in a thread, PM'd, or asked a question, has been more than willing to offer me some advice, suggestions, or just chat. It's how I found out about FA and FLV. Before I thought all I needed was TFA stuff, but boy was I wrong!
If it's a good question, we give good answers. If we've seen the same question 6 times in the same day, read the fucking sidebar.
True enough! It does help that the sidebar is a great wealth of information. I tend to refer back to it pretty regularly.
Yet they all shit on us when we mention that we AREN'T spending $22 for 30mls of Juice.
I saw the comparison that mods are like xbox's and juice is like purchasing different games. My mind was absolutely BLOWN. You pay $50 for COD and get at least 5 months play out of it, at your discretion. $20 for a shitty 30ml you probably won't even like might last you a couple days.
Wayne, you're a cancer on this community and I've had enough.

Seriously though, we do appreciate your input here. My donut flavor came in today, time to board the Bronuts train.
Really great flavor, peace be to your coils/wicks doe.
Gunk up the coils bad?
After reading the whole thing, the first thing I thought to myself...
Can I substitute the CAP Bavarian for TFA? LOL
Seriously though...can I?
P.S. Real talk though, great community here.
Yeah, I'm close to unsubscribing from there. I hardly even check it anymore and I used to be active almost 24/7. Too much drama and too many vapeholes. Plus, it feels great to be satisfied with my set up instead of seeing all of the latest and greatest. Saving money again, like we should be doing when we quit smoking. Plus, you guys fucking rock.
The only thing that has been of use to me in maybe the past 6 months was a deal for authentic Kanger Kbox for $14. I made so much DIY money from selling them for 30.
It's only threads like this that I continue to read the posts there.
Seriously if you drip this is a life saver.
Damn i just tried this and it's awesome!! I get no spitback at all (which was a problem for me before) and the flavor is great also juice that felt a bit harsh before are much smoother now, I don't check ecr at all anymore so thank you for sharing this!
I love you so much for linking this - this is GREAT! So smooth and full, and like /u/thedsx said, no spitback. I'd just gotten used to having boiling drops of juice land on my tongue/the roof of my mouth. I never really thought there might be a better way.
I only liked the wicking video that was on ECR from page like 4 or 5 days ago, otherwise, I don't even bother reading their threads
Honestly I just treat ECR like yahoo.com. Yeah some of their stories are bullshit, like all of the Kardashian garbage, but there's still some great information there from time to time. Sorta like reading a magazine too. I don't take anything personal here. I quit smoking to live longer.
Till this day I've never entered a B&M, never went to a vape meet, never went to a cloud competition, and yet thanks to you guys I'm vaping on the best shit ever. I get everything I want online, and from time to time I still try popular juices for the hell of it. Most of those vape meets look like sausage fests anyway. I'm good.
The only reason I go into b&ms anymore is to feel the build quality of a mod or RDA before I buy it. I'll try one interesting juice they sell just for inspiration while I'm there.
This is what I see when I visit ECR
Fuckin Ayyy-men. Since I got into DIY a little over a year ago, I started frequenting different subforums and communities. It's crazy how much more mature and helpful a majority of the posters are. I had to unfollow my local vape group on fb, because it kept inducing this feel that I couldn't stand to feel. A mixture of cringe/anger/pity/general discomfort. Stfu about your stealth vape techniques at walmart or your twisted velociraptor clapton hendrix juggalo marine corps quad super-virgin coil you made while your giant can of monster and v for vendetta mask were patiently awaiting your return.
I do love this community. I've lurked for quite a bit and last week finally decided to make my first order of supplies. Come Monday I will have bronuts and mustard milk.
I've read and seen first hand what some of those people who are bashing vapors on the ECR sub. Yes there are assholes who want to blow clouds so others will watch. Yes there are people who boast about their builds and new rigs. That happens in EVERY hobby. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who vapes.
Rebuilding is a tinkers hobby. I love it for two reasons. First and foremost, it got me off of tobacco (in my mind forever) and I will never lose focus of that mindset. Secondly, of course I love showing other vapors my builds! I love seeing their opinions, and giving mine as well. I love the conversations I have with my friends about new juice concoctions. I enjoy following this sub and checking others opinions as well. Overall, then vape community (online) has treated me really good.
That being said, I filter what I want to see and what I don't want to see. Stuff that interests me of course I will follow, stuff that people post for their own benefit or trying to make a quick buck, I move right along.
I mentioned this happens in every hobby. It most certainly does. My dad is a boater, he's passionate about boating and talks to me about all kinds of things he's working on or wants to do. I have a lot of friends who are into techno music. There are ALOT of "scene" kids in that genre and what do I do? Ignore them and filter out what I enjoy. The hobby list goes on and on and on. I agree about this subs community being absolutely amazing.
So keep your heads up! Don't let those few people, who yes may be giving vapors a bad name, but over all this hobby is an important stab at those assholes in big tobacco who want people to keep dying for their own profits. That last line is as far as I'll go into my own politics ;-).
Have a great weekend everyone!
