USPS Delivery Time - GPS tracked
submitted about 10 years ago by gremlinjuice

Hi everyone!

There is SO much information I should be sharing besides this, but there just isn't enough time in the day. First off, if you are waiting on a package from us, it will be sent out tomorrow. (Y'all are some crazy people with your orders! Some of these invoices are two and three pages worth of flavors!) And the Joy we were expecting is now crossing the border tonight and will be working its way across the country over the next 5 or 6 (or 7?) days. but it is on its way and there is a LOT of it this time.

Anyway, we're finally caught up tomorrow with current orders.

So, the purpose of this post is to finally try to answer the question of "My tracking number says it shipped on Monday, but it's Friday now and it's not here. Where is it?" Honestly, we don't know. We have nothing more than you do with the tracking# that the USPS provides. UNTIL NOW!

We recently sent a GPS unit from Washington State to Adirondack in New York. (Something most of ECR knows by now LOL) because we ALL want to know where it is sitting for days at a time instead of making it's way to you. It was sent Monday the 31st and arrived in New York Friday the 4th. Here is what we learned.

So, it turns out, it really is moving most of the time.

The GPS unit is on it's way back from New York now, so we will share the results of that trip as well as future trips to other vendors across the country. We ALL want to know just like you do. When you order something and it takes a week to get there, as tempting as it is to call the vendor and complain, we honestly don't know where it is. But at least now we will have SOME kind of data to figure out what is going on.

I hope you all find this as interesting as I do.

Since it was headed to Rome, I was kind of expecting it to do some sightseeing in Italy... You know, because USPS. :P

We recently had one that was shipped to someone 15 miles away from our location. It went from Olympia to Denver, back to Seattle, then to Oklahoma City (I think), then to Spokane, and finally back to our area for delivery. 3 weeks. LOL

The worst they've done for me was eight business days for a 2-day priority package.

Then there's FedEx... they will store my packages for 2 days because 'it's not scheduled to be delivered yet.' Every. Single. Time. :(

Seriously! Everyone here loves to bag on USPS, but both FedEx and UPS will sit on your shipment for days if it gets to the destination too quickly. With USPS if they manage to get your order in fast (use Priority, not First Class you cheapskates!) it will go out for delivery. My area has multiple USPS carriers, so if it isn't in for the morning chick the afternoon guy will have it.

That did cause some excitement. Customer claimed he didn't know what was happening. It was amusing hehe

It wasn't just a claim. LOL The boss was away at a trade show and forgot to let the guys at the shop know that it was incoming. :) So ya, when it showed up, they honestly had no clue what was going on. Imagine the look on my face when I woke up to that post with over 200 comments!!!

Dude. Are you telling me you shipped out the order I placed today?! I'm so excited!!!

If you ordered today, it will go out tomorrow. :) Other than major holidays (like Labor Day) we normally ship within 24 hours. We do what we call a "noon print" so if you order by noon pacific time, we try to get it shipped that day. After noon, it will ship the following day. That's not 100%, but it's what we shoot for every day.

Ordered at 11:35am PST, but I didn't get tracking :,(

Again... we're in the final stretch of catching up from the sale. :) Things will be back to normal as of tomorrow. (Until the next shipment of Joy arrives, then it might as well be a major sale. LOL)

So, based on tangible evidence, the GOV(If I remember correctly the USPS is actually a private entity?), or maybe not the gov, but the usps, are liars? Haha. Cant say I'm surprised( Their tracking says arrived in Rochester 24 hours prior to the GPS). In bed with the GOV, or whatever the saying is...you lay with dogs you get flea's?

Aye... I tried to make sense of the discrepancies, but I just can't. It's all about how they are scanned at various locations. But, once we have done this a few times, I think it will help us all interpret the official tracking numbers a bit better.

No worries..do what you do Gremlin. Your transparency is greatly appreciated by all of us here, and will continue to keep us coming your way. Somewhat slower then hoped for delivery speeds or not(it really could be a lot worse),

We're fixing that. :) Hard to believe we only opened the DIY side one month ago. (until you start looking at the issues we've had... then ya... pretty easy to believe) hehe I remember most of these problems 3 years ago. They get better.

Just to clarify... The USPS is 100% owned by the US government.

Can we get a "add GPS" option on shipping? At least then I'd reliably know where the package was ;)

1 points

by gremlinjuiceabout 10 years ago

Yes, but it will add a $150 deposit. :)

Deal. I see my order got shipped out today, also checked back on your stock and noticed you had Vienna Cream back in stock. Darn, just my luck!

Did they chargeback the GPS unit because you were late by 15 minutes???

Whoa, you are in olympia? That's where I'm from. We should hook up some time and share notes :)

We're a block away from the Lacey Post Office. We don't have an "open to the public" shop, but we do let people pick up orders if you ever need. (In fact the big sign in the lobby says "Super Duper Top Secret World Headquarters")

I hope you know you just killed my wallet. And for that I'm super happy :)

Ive got an order ready to rock but there isn't an option for in-town pickup. How should I proceed?

2 points

by gremlinjuiceabout 10 years ago

Use the coupon code "pickup" and that will remove the shipping charge.

5711 Lacey Blvd SE #304

Lacey, WA 98503

The crew is there from 10 til we're done, sometimes as early as noon or 1:00, other times 4 or 5:00. so catching a Gremlin isn't easy. The worst part is we hardly ever have the free time to hang out and visit, so that's why there there's not really a lounge area.

That wen't better than expected! Now ship it to your next door neighbor and see where it goes lol.

My brother in law once mailed himself an envelope from his local post office in a small town in TN. It was delivered a week later. Gotta love the USPS.

I placed an order last Friday and haven't received an email. I called and emailed you yesterday to no avail.

Just remember, we don't work 24hours. :) 'M' will get back to you when he gets in today. One of two things happened (I'm guessing), either the email address you entered had a typo, or the order failed and was never actually placed. I'll look into it when I get there as well. Everything from Friday shipped a few days ago...

Just as an interesting aside, (totally not complaining, just feel that it fits in with the theme of this thread) last week I placed an order with Gremlin DIY and Gremlin Juice about 5 min apart. They were both picked up in Lacey, WA on September 8, 2015 at 5:23 pm. The DIY order made it to my door in VT by Friday Sept 11 before 10am. The juice is currently still in transit and set to be delivered Monday Sept 14. It's pretty funny how 2 identical packages left the same place at the same time on their way to the same destination, but somehow along the way one gets delayed.
