Follow up to prev. post re: condensed milk, or "Guri Guri Ice Cream"
submitted about 10 years ago by sbarrett2727

This is a follow up post, to this post of mine I wrote a day or so ago. The main point of my post was to ask for advice to mimic a condensed milk note for a Guri Guri Ice Cream flavor profile. Guri Guri is a Hawaiian dessert described as a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and a strawberry/lemon-lime slushy blended together.

Here is my work on the recipe so far:

Guri-Guri

Ingredient|% :---|---: Catalan Cream (FA)|2 Cream Fresh (FA)|3 Lemon Sicily (FA)|1 Lime Tahity Cold Pressed (FA)|0.3 strawberry TPA|2 Sweet Cream (TPA)|0.75 Sweet Guava (CAP)|1 Sweet Strawberry (CAP)|1.5 Yogurt (FW)|2

Flavor total: 13.55%

Catalan cream seems like an odd choice

I agree - I'd say Vienna or a combo of Vienna and Fresh would fit the ice cream profile more?

Yeah, last I checked condensed milk didn't contain cinnamon/lemon/orange or whatever is in catalan cream

I'll definitly try this, I have Vienna and Fresh on hand. edit. Catalan was a suggestion from a user on the previous thread.

I have them all except the Catalan cream. Can it be substituted?

further up /u/daath suggested a combo of Cream Fresh and Vienna Cream, after seeing this I'm regretting the Catalan altogether.

feel free to mix up your own cream base...see what tastes good, please report back

This sounds like it will produce some interesting juice for sure.... You got me wanting to try the food and see how it is.

Where you get the stuff? You from Hawaii?

I've never had the stuff personally, I found it on one of my girlfriend's healthy-food Pinterest boards and thought the picture was intriguing so I asked her to click on it and the flavor profile seemed simple and amazing.
