Lunar Harvest Clone
submitted about 10 years ago by Vapespin

Hey guys,

I have been going over this one for a while in my head but haven't mixed it yet. The description of the juice is berries, rock candy, and blue cotton candy for those unfamiliar. I found a few clone attempts on here but in my opinion they were pretty far off. I am pretty damn close on this attempt but will make some small changes in the next try. Lunar Harvest is a really great juice and is very popular on the east coast.

To start the clone, my initial thought was Capella Harvest Berry. One whiff of Lunar Harvest is enough to tell you it is a main component of the juice along with the fact that the name pretty much gives it away. For the rock candy, I originally thought TFA Blueberry Candy but I actually don't think it is in there, possible, but not sure. I also sought out Blueberry Cotton Candy from Flavor West but that was a bust. My second choice was Capella Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy, which in my opinion fits perfectly in the this juice. There is still something missing that I can't quite get right and it may just be a matter of changing percentages, but the last ingredient to pull it all together is Blue Rasp Slush from OSDIY. So the recipe came out like this:

(CAP) Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy 5%

(OSDIY) Blue Rasp Slushie 5%

(CAP) Harvest Berry 9%

This mix gets it pretty damn close to the original. To make it even closer on the next attempt I would probably recommend going to 10% on the Harvest Berry and Lowering the Blue Rasp Slush to 4%. This mix is fairly sweet as it is but you can add a little Sucralose if you like things really sweet. I think I tried 1% Sweetener from TFA and it was fine.

I also mixed this at 70 VG/ 30 PG as this is what I do almost all my mixes at. I'm not sure on the original ratio but it is pretty thick.

If you like Lunar Harvest, mix this one up!

Edit: OSDIY Blue Rasp Slush is not 100% PG. It is actually 67% or so VG so take this into account when mixing.

I'm confused. If you havnt mixed this and vaped it after you mixed it, how do you know its close, let alone good? Not trying to be a dick, but genuinely curious. I've formulated all sorts of shit in my head, that didnt go as planned once the juice hit my dripper...

I understood it as the OP hadn't tried their hand at mixing their own recipes before, and this is their first recipe from scratch.

> I have been going over this one for a while in my head but never mixed anything.

That line made me wonder...

I meant I was planning the recipe out in my head but hadn't mixed it yet.

I have been mixing for quite a while. I don't post here often but I figured some lunar harvest fans would love this. I simply meant I was planning it out in my head but hadn't actually mixed what I wanted yet.

I meant I have been going over and over in my head what the recipe would look like and I finally decided what I wanted to do. I have been mixing a while now. Im not new at this.

I get that. I just wonder, how you can say " This mix get's it pretty damn close to the original" when its on paper and not in a bottle yet or in ur atty to actually tell how close it is. Either way, no need to get bent. I was just wondering, and am possibly just reading it differently then you intended.

Yea I absolutely worded this terribly lol. I had already tasted when I was saying its close to original.

I need to try this. I've been asked if I knew how to clone it. I've never tasted the original. Now we need to nail down Lunar Harvest Black.

I think the difference is blackberry right? I will get to work on it. I honestly haven't put a whole lot of time into this but what I posted is pretty close, at least as a shake and vape.

Yes, the difference is blackberry.

Harvest Berry is a pretty strong flavor, and usually mix it around 1% and it definitely stands out. Do you feel that 9% may be too high?

I've found that Harvest Berry, even at 2% will end up muting the mix after a day of aging. I've actually since given up on using it because of the muting. Maybe I will try it again at 1% and see if that mutes... but I agree, OP's 9% is really too much and it is definitely muting itself, which is why he needs such a high percentage. I would reckon in about 3-4 days, that mix will taste like sweet air.

The Thrashberry recipe from Gremlin uses Harvest Berry at 6.6% so I don't think that is quite right. That hasn't been my experience. I agree it is strong. But it absolutely works here and isn't that strong in the end at all. If you mix it you will see what I mean.

Have you made Thrashberry? I have and it becomes muted. I thought it was the other flavorings until I used Harvest Berry in a different, unique mix of mine, then found out HB is actually the culprit.

Yea I know, it is a very strong flavor and I would generally agree on that. For whatever reason when mixed with those other two ingredients, I still don't think it is high enough. Or maybe I will leave it there and lower the others. Either way, in Lunar Harvest the Harvest Berry is very strong and noticeable right away. It really isn't overbearing though. The juice is very strong in the flavor department. Some people say it is too strong but still love it anyway.

No way! Maybe I got a bunk bottle. I was so pumped to get this flavor but I've since given up on it because it's so weak! I can put my nose right up to it and it has a very light, non-chemical scent unlike any of my other concentrates.

Where did you get it from?

I'm a huge fan of harvest berry, gonna have to try this, though probs at lower percentages. I'm a less is more guy, personally.

Are you taking into consideration that Blue Raspberry Slush is VG based?

1 points

by Vapespinabout 10 years ago

yea 67% or so right?

1 points

by NotCharlesMansonabout 10 years ago

Yeah, I just consider it a VG base and ignore the 67%.

You may want to edit your post and mention that. Some people might not know and it could alter the recipe pretty greatly if they mix a decent sized batch.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I just have it default saved into my calculator so I had forgotten about that. Thanks!

This is why we need to use 1 as standard gravity. Then it's replicable.

by NotCharlesMansonabout 10 years ago

In PG suspended flavors, yes. VG suspended flavors are different and wouldn't benefit by using a universal standard.

by ___on___on___about 10 years ago

Can you explain more? I can see how the percentages would be skewed way higher, because VG is heavier and so you would need more, but isn't that easier than having to keep track of which flavorings are VG?

Just did my first diy batch using your recipe as a base. I think it's a near perfect match. I used:

CAP Harvest Berry 9%

CAP Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy 4.5%

TFA Blueberry Candy 4.5%

TFA Sweetener 2%

Mixed it to about 25/75 PG/VG. Try this out and let me know what you think!

hello i used your recipe and mod it alittle i knew the cotton candy and the tfa blueberry candy was in it just coul;d not find the berry aspect of it i had been looking for this part for a good min and i saw it a few weeks ago and it clicked with the name of the harvest berry your base was good but i think it was to much harvest berry gave it a real close taste of hawk sauce so i will add what i modded bellow there was just not enough of that sweet after tone that lunar harvest puts out

CAP Harvest Berry 7% CAP Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy 5.5% TFA Blueberry Candy 5.5% TFA Sweetener 3%

I realize this is a 4 month old thread~

Have you tried Lunar Harvest "BLACK"? The bottle just says they replaced the Blueberry with new Blackberry.

Its fantastic and I'm not sure I could just swap out Blue Rasp CC or Blue Raspberry Slushie :(

I have tried it but that was a long time ago. I will have to try it and get back to you. I am almost certain its not TFA Blackberry because that is strong as hell and very noticeable and FA Blackberry is super floral imo. Maybe loranns? I haven't tried it, I have CAP blackberry here but haven't used it yet.
