Not gonna lie, I've got to be one of the only people on this sub who dislikes it

I was excited when I saw the recipe. I thought I would love it. I mixed it up and it tasted EXACTLY like a chocolate glazed donut but for some reason, I didn't enjoy vaping it. Just not my kind of vape I guess. I can definitely understand why people enjoy it though.

It's funny, some things where I love the real life analogue, I simply don't enjoy vaping.

by r0guez0mbieabout 10 years agoMixologist

Hear hear. I'm exactly the same. I LOVE coffee, chocolate cake etc... But they're my least favourite vapes. Yet I don't actually touch Strawberry anything and lemon cakes would be my last choice in a cake... But when it comes to vaping, strawberry and lemon are just my favourite. The list goes on - don't like mint, black currant etc., but these are adv juice flavours for me.

It makes me want to buy flavors I don't care for to see if I like to vape them.

Please elaborate, do you prefer cartoony/artificial?

6 points

by fizzmustardabout 10 years agoBest Recipe of 2014

Cartoony? Certainly not. No place in vaping.

Artificial? Sometimes. For instance, I am lactose intolerant so I can't consume much in the way of dairy, but I love to vape creamy flavors. It's about the only way I can experience that taste.

I just mean there's not a strict 1:1 correlation between my enjoyment of real items and their e-liquid imitations. Enjoyment of one, for me, does not imply enjoyment of the other.

Lemon - I love lemons, lemon flavored candy, baked goods, you name it. I also love lemon vapes. I can enjoy objectively bad lemon e-liquids I just love the flavor so much.

Creams - Like I said, I can't enjoy dairy items, but typically enjoy dairy e-liquids.

Tropical Fruits - I don't usually enjoy many tropical fruits (jackfruit, mango, passionfruit) but actually do like these flavors in e-liquid.

It's a very interesting thing. The aromatic molecules in liquids represent an aspect or "snapshot" of whatever they're imitating, and don't necessarily create the same experience as consuming the real-world item. Sometimes that isolates what I like about an item, and I enjoy. Sometimes it isolates what I dislike and I don't enjoy an e-liquid where I would otherwise enjoy it's analogue.

Does that clarify?

It tasted a little light to me when I made the exact recipe, but I love the idea and think it has great potential. I made a few adjustments and its aging now. I don't have any notes in front of me, but if anyone is interested in talking about making modifications, I'm always up for discussion.

2 points

by r0guez0mbieabout 10 years agoMixologist

Nah I think it's a damn fine recipe, because it's not over the top. I can eat A choc donut, but not more. This recipe hits the right notes without being over the top rich... Which is why I like it and can vape it longer than 5 minutes. If it was richer, that would put me off.

3 points

by Furyxusabout 10 years ago

I get what you mean. What I meant by mild was that the overall flavor profile seemed light (as in too low of flavor percentage type deal) but that's just me. Everyone's different. I'll make adjustments to suit me, and if anyone else would like, they're welcome to do the same.

Oh right. Ye that makes sense.

I like flavors that are in your face. Wayne said we could up the biscuit and Joy but thought nothing else should be changed. I wouldn't mind raising them all though.

I don't dislike it but it doesn't rock my world either. I was hoping for a decadent chocolate but found the chocolate to be a little faint for my liking.

4 points

by CoccoBill_fiabout 10 years ago

My thoughts exactly. The chocolate in it just simply doesn't taste good, more like stale old cheap chcolate like last year's santa shaped christmas chocolates. Quite disappointing, after all the hype I was really looking forward to it,especially since I love rhodonite.

2 points

by drewpeacock420about 10 years ago

The chocolate taste reminds me of these cheap gas station doughnuts.

2 points

by DrSnakensteinMDabout 10 years ago

Perfect analogy - Wayne did a fantastic job getting the most out of Choc Glazed Donut, but in the end, it's very much a gas station donut (which I've been known to enjoy every once in a great while). One thing that makes Bronuts better, is that it doesn't leave a coating of grease on the roof of your mouth.

I'm mostly confused by the hype over FA Joy.

It just tastes like airy, doughy...nothingness.

1 points

by purty707about 10 years ago

basically this.

1 points

by HocusKrokusabout 10 years ago

I like it in some bakery flavors because it's not an overpowering flavor and can add a light fluffy cake feel/taste without all the "heaviness" of other cake type concentrates.

1 points

by gotsanityabout 10 years ago

I get strong floral notes from it. I don't see how people feel is a doughy taste. I'm testing it as a shake and vape atm but am letting a bottle of it step to see how it changes for me

by Bluehaze013about 10 years ago

I don't like it either, the Capella Chocolate Doughnut just taste like chocolate covered play dough to me.. It's not as bad as the straight Glazed doughnut but to me it seems it's the same flavoring just with some chocolate that hides the play dough taste a bit. I've been searching for a good chocolate doughnut ever since I tried doughboys chocolate glazed, that juice is just spot on taste exactly like a chocolate doughnut but I have no idea how to replicate it lol

Nah you're not, I've seen literally one or two others, so you're not alone.

FedEx really needs to hurry up with my chocolate glazed donut lol

I mixed up a 30ml bottle if it and gave it many tries and still don't like it :(. I added 2%bavarian cream to it and will try it again in a few days, I hope that makes it better!

Edit: kinda sad too cause I've been looking for a good donut recipe for a while now, if anyone knows one please shoot it my way thanks!

I like this one:

  • 6% Chocolateglazed donut CAP

  • .5% ~~Biscuit~~ Cookie FA

  • 2% Graham Cracker CAP

The cinnamon/spice notes from the grahamcracker mellow out with steeping.

3 points

by skiddlzninjaabout 10 years agoFrugivore

but FA doesn't have a biscuit flavor? O.o

Cookie, they translate their names, sorry i got confused.

If you don't you can always vape it forward. I think there is a sub for that.

1 points

by mazeofmysteryabout 10 years agoMixologist

It's okay. It seems more like a very faint, very plain doughnut to me. I wanna figure out a way to make it more flavourful and the chocolate actually present.

1 points

by moonerdooderabout 10 years ago

Tfa double chocolate clear maybe? To me that's a pretty strong "dry" chicane flavor. I don't have as much experience with tfa milk chocolate so I can't say.

1 points

by mazeofmysteryabout 10 years agoMixologist

Yeah, I've noticed that in my attempts to create just a pure chocolate mix haha. I'm gonna work on that and see how I can blend it with Bronuts.

1 points

by brohemithabout 10 years ago

Really? I mostly just get a choc. frosting taste from it.

1 points

by mazeofmysteryabout 10 years agoMixologist

Yup. I taste mostly the yellow cake

2 points

by bagelchipsabout 10 years ago

Have you tried it at different wattages/temperatures? I get pretty strong chocolate at higher temps.

I loaded up but it wasn't really my thing. If anyone wants to trade something for a 4oz of cap chocolate glazed donut hit me up.

Want a 4oz of CAP Harvest Berry?!

I have a 4oz of that sitting as well. I'll pm you to see if we can work out something else.

I'd prob trade some stuff for it...lemme know if it's still available

Shit. I just bought a 4oz. (It shipped 2 days ago)

Seeing all of this makes me lean towards the idea that I really won't like it.

by flipityfloppityabout 10 years ago

Too soon to go there man, tons of people love it. I'm just really sensitive to certain flavors

2 points

by Smogurtabout 10 years ago

I think it is a personal thing really... was never keen on chocolate vapes but thought i'd give it a try.... it really is bang on what it says it is... all the flavours are there, just not my thing personally.

3 points

by flipityfloppityabout 10 years ago

Same boat man. Never had a chocolate flavoring taste good in any amount. Something about vaping choco just doesn't sit well with me. Same with all the coconuts, cap vanilla custard and tfa vanilla custard which is a crying shame because so many talented mixers use those flavors. Ps, not bad mouthing Wayne at all, the fire trails is in my tfv4 right now. Luckily it's cheap to make because the tfv4 sucks juice like it's trying to avoid anal.

I love it. A great thing about this recipe is that its a fantastic base for adding other things. For instance, this morning I added some Vienna Cream and Raspberry and im pretty confident it will be pretty good.

1 points

by Hodorhohodorabout 10 years ago

It needs a better chocolate profile imo

1 points

by brohemithabout 10 years ago

You're definitely not. I think it taste like cheap choc. frosting and no doughnut, not something I enjoyed at all. All the hype over it had me excited, so I was pretty damn let down I didn't like it.

1 points

by unicornbloodsabout 10 years ago

I'm sure you're not, juice is so subjective. I just mixed mine up a few days ago, liking it so far but agree with other statements that it tastes "light".I'm waiting for a few weeks before I really have a final verdict.

1 points

by drewpeacock420about 10 years ago

I was thinking about creating this same thread a few days ago, to me it was delicious at first and then not long after the taste mutes. Its not because of vapor tongue either because I can taste all my other juices fine. It also has a weird mouth feel to it, it like severely drys out my mouth unlike most other juices.

1 points

by Bonzooabout 10 years ago

I like it and it's in the same direction I was going with a version I was making, but I need to figure out a way to tone down the throat hit. The chocolate glaze doughnut irritates the hell out of my throat even down to 4%. I've tinkered with some tpa caramel and cap double chocolate, but the cgd still burns my throat.

My broke ass has yet to be able to get the flavors for it. It sounds awesome though.

It's not a bad recipe but I don't like how FA Joy adds a yeasty flavor after steep and I don't like the waxy end note that CAP Donut brings to it. I like it better with the Bav Cream tweak and I like it with 1% TFA Double Choc added to the base recipe.

by JustSayNoToDiacetylabout 10 years ago

I like it, but I agree with some others that it is too light. Maybe up the Choco glazed doughnut to 9-10%?

And I think FW Yellow Cake and biscuit are a bit superfluous in it. Don't really taste them at all, though I don't claim to have the most refined palate in the world.

And I get a Dunkin Donuts taste from it more than I do the superior Krispy Kreme. Not complaining, but just saying.

Nah am not keen on it either tbh...and i mixed up 50ml :( am wondering if the 1.7% MTS vape wiz i put in by accident has changed it though.
