Simply cannot taste TFA Dragonfruit

I'm pretty new to mixing, so I thought I'd give Sucker Punch Clone a try. All the reviews said it was flavorful and delicious.

After making it (mixing by weight, btw), I cured it in 120° for 4 hours and then stored overnight. When I went to try it today, I tasted almost nothing. It was just...sweet vapor, as if it was 100% VG or something. Am i missing something? Extra info: Ordered flavors directly from TPA last week. shook the bottle every half hour while hot curing.

Dragonfruit is a very mild flavor and usually is used as an accent and to bring out other flavors.

I could tell by the smell of it that it was a light flavor. Why would this recipe have so many positive reviews then? I really trusted it to be a pretty decent flavor.

Taste is subjective. There isn't one flavor in existence that everyone will love or even like.

Give it a week steep just in case. Also, did you use V1 or DX Bavarian Cream?

V1 (I know, diacetyl etc). I've tried this cream on other mixes and it works great. It's just nothing's coming through in this recipe. I'm torn between adding a few drops of strawberry to it and just letting it steep a few more days.

I find it so overpowering that a drop in a mix is all I can taste.

120 degrees is way too hot IMO for curing.

Try around 90-100, or not using heat at all. Or just warming up your VG to thin it out & make it absorb flavouring/PG better. Heat just degrades aroma molecules & also allows for them to evaporate out of the bottle faster.

I find 14% to be way too strong you may try cutting that in half and mixing a small batch. Sometimes too much flavor will overload your palate and you won't taste anything

IMO, I think you let it breathe too long, as well as pretty much cooked the flavour out of the bottle.

If you drip...be very cautious with recipes like the one you linked. They are usually for pen devices or sub-ohm tanks.

With that being said, I find TFA Dragonfruit to be powerful actually. I use 1% and you can taste it through other light flavors. I went to 5% in a recipe once and it was way too much.

Also, maybe don't hot cure it? Other than that I'm rather confused.

That recipe sucks and is so far off the mark. As others have said, don't heat cure if you're having issues, which you'll often have if your adding heat to fruit ingredients.

Yeah I find Dragonfruit to be plenty tasteable at even 5%. Give it another day to rest after the hot bath? If that doesn't work I'd probably start by halving all of the flavors.

Palettes are weird.

WTF... I remember using 3 drops of TFA Dragonfruit in a 30ml mix trying to do some Mother's Unicorn type of clone.

It took over the 2.5 ml of TFA Strawberry(Ripe).

I decided to never again use it.

If you're looking for more of a Real dragon fruit flavor, Capella is pretty tasty, I enjoy it in a mix with mango and strawberry.
