I'm in effin shock! Thank you guys.
submitted about 10 years ago by macKditty

Last night I got home from work and noticed my package sitting on the step. So I open it up and see that it's my DIY kit from Nude Nicotine. I looked in the clone recipe thread and found a good recipe (Unicorn Milk) and set out for the garage. At first I was pretty overwhelmed with it all because it was A LOT of stuff so I just grabbed the 7 flavors I needed, a few syringes an empty bottle and VG/PG.

I really thought making a mix would be super hard but thanks to the recipe I found here it couldn't have been easier. Seriously, it took about 20 minutes for me to mix up the same thing I have been paying 22$ for at the vape shop. I'm sure there will be some hurdles when coming up with my own recipes, if I even get into that but for anyone thinking about getting into DIY please do yourself a favor and just do it.

Thanks Nude Nicotine and Bull City Vapors! I can't wait to really dive into this but I'd be happy if my journey stopped here and this is as far as I go. To think I would have vaped 22$ worth of juice today is just gross. This feels almost too good to be true!

P.S. I'm almost positive that my local vape shop uses the same stuff as I have, recipes and ingredients. They go in the back and make your bottle 'fresh' for you when you buy and it takes about 5 minutes. My unicorn Milk clone tastes just like their 'Crimson Milk' but I thought 'no way they are DIYing a bottle that quick'. Really sucks that people are charging so much for this stuff and it's so cheap to make. I really don't want to hate on them or call them out, but I am defiantly taking my loyalty elsewhere.

The one posted in Clone Recipes 3 by /u/NotCharlesManson it's really good. Are there more than one that are acceptable? If there is an improved version please turn me onto it! Thanks.

Hey, I gave credit, lol. Is this the final recipe that you settled on or have you changed some things up? Honestly I couldn't be happier with this version it's really good and not much ingredients needed.

Going to jack this comment to ask about CAP Sweet Strawberry at 8%. Do the creams keep it from being a little bite-y or harsh? I fucking love that flavor but it gets a little rude when I go too hard on it.

Can confirm, his recipe was bomb diggity. Didnt like it at first but it grew on me. Need to mix up another.

How defiant are you, though?

Be careful with nude nicotine, there was a youtube video I watched of a guy testing nicotine he got from them and it was actually 190mg instead of the 100mg he was told. Just be careful.

That was me and here's the link to that thread:

You totally deserve to get downvoted for remembering the history of this dubious vendor, though.

Luckily I don't care about comment karma. Kinda funny though, for such a toxic and dangerous chemical compound you'd think people would appreciate a heads up about a vendor that has undoubtedly fucked up.

They must be his personal fanboys with NN mini skirts and pompoms.

Really? That makes me nervous but I already go really easy on the nicotine starting out. Stuff does seem really strong even at 3mg.

I've ordered from them many times and never had an issue. They usually test the concentration before shipping it from what I understand.

That sort of thing doesn't happen very often and when it does people write off companies forever.

But it should never happen. Something like nicotine should be handled with absolute care and attention. Being off by 10mg or so is still shitty but not the end of the world, however, being off by 90mg (90%) is ridiculously careless and dangerous.

Was just a heads up anyway.

Link to the NN nic level question thread.

No offense to NN. Thier kit got me started too...have saved hundreds since.

Ah then even if you get a dodgy batch, assuming it's the same difference in potency, 6mg isn't going to kill you. Might be worth investing in a nicotine testing kit :)

FYI, your local shop probably premixes their concentrates so all they have to do is add VG and nicotine.

Good shit on starting DIY. You're on a slippery slope now though ;-)

Yeah when I asked why she charges so much for non steeped non pre-mixed juice she said it's already mixed. But when you get juice they ask what Mg nic and PG/VG ratio so I know they mix it fresh. Then she went with 'we do it that way so it's freshest'. Full of lies really so I'm glad I don't have to go back. Everyone thinks they need to charge Cuttwood prices now, it's getting annoying.

Yup, easiest way to make your product 'premium' - charge premium prices!

by macKdittyabout 10 years ago

That is true to an extent. Can you imagine how successful a juice line would be if they only charged like 5$ a bottle? People think if it's cheaper it must not be any good. What annoys me about my local B&M is that they don't carry any other liquids except their house brand.

I stayed loyal because they were a small operation and made the bulk of their money on their liquids. Used to be $3 for Atlantis coils, $25 for Atlantis tanks $19 for Arctic tank.

I went in the other day, now they have a clone line that's 16.99 for 30ml. Atlantis and Arctic coils are $6 and wire is $1 per foot. I guess they have to jack up prices to compete with the bigger stores. I probably would never even entertain the idea of DIY if they didn't jack up their prices by 60%.

It's not organic produce, lady.

Exactly. Also, the older it is, the better it is to a certain point right?

Remember, marketing is expensive. Cuttwood sponsors race cars, and boats, etc.

I'll still buy Cuttwood, I'm not knocking it at all.

Also, the overhead to run a B&M isn't cheap. Many stores make almost nothing off the batteries and tanks they sell, so the markup on juices is in many cases the only way they can viably stay open.

This is an often overlooked and very important aspect of having a B+M. Rent and wages are a bitch, all day long.

What kit did you get? Also, how big of a bottle did you make?

2 points

by macKdittyabout 10 years ago

I got the $50.00 kit from Nude and some extra stuff from them and a lot of flavors from Bull City Vapors. For the mix I went small at 10ml to try it out.

I feel like the $50 kit was a bit over kill for how I'm going to use it but I guess it can't hurt to have extra stuff. Honestly I'm already interested in mixing by weight with a scale, this syringe stuff is getting old. Luckily I can fit the 18g needle tip down into the small flavor bottles. Are you asking because you're interested in getting a kit?

1 points

by Johnny_Leonabout 10 years ago

Yeah, juice that I like is kind of getting pricey and buying in bulk due to living overseas is not cost effective, lol.

3 points

I think the $50 kit from them is really cool, not too big not too small. One thing I would recommend after being in the game for 12 hours, is putting some thought into mixing by weight. This would be so much cooler if I could just drip onto a scale until target weight, instead of fooling with these needles and cleaning them.

That being said, It doesn't matter all that much while I'm at my desk in the garage. What exactly are you waiting on before you pull the trigger? What took me so long is just the anxiety of trying to find out what I need, find recipes, which site is the best, should I wait until a holiday etc. Finally I just found 2 recipes of liquids I buy weekly, grabbed the ingredients on that list and ordered a kit. I imagine I'll save the money I would have spent in just a few months.

Just do it. Get the 501 that most everyone recommends here off of Amazon, and just go for it. You're gonna kick yourself after your first batch by weight for putting it off even just a week or two. It's a game changer for sure!

Congrats man! If your good at cooking and can get a feel for your flavours making your own recipes should be easy too. I'm week into diying and had a similar experience. Its awesome. I currently have some monster melons clone, 4 diy recipes i'm working on (only one thats not based off anything though) and its all delicious. The only issue if your like me is that its hard to stop when you can have any flavour instantly...

Congrats. I love a good first mix story. I wish I had one. Hope you're not busy for the next, say, 2 years. What free time you used to have will be spent mixing/vaping, what sleep time you used to have will be spent working a 2nd job to finance getting all of the flavors. It's the most awesome hobby ever.

I asked a kind of shady shop (I was hurting for juice and my bro had a coupon) what flavorings they used and they wouldn't tell me. I was honestly going to ask because either the juice just wasn't flavorful and it just felt like a punch in the throat even though it was supposed to be 3mg of nic and 90/10 VG/pg

Buy a scale and some pipettes and you can make a batch in about 2 minutes.
