Saline in DIY e liquid
submitted about 10 years ago by vapingrammyOne of "The Damned"

I am a fairly good cook, so I know that all dishes whether they are sweet or not call for salt. Since I'm like sweet juices I feel like a tiny bit of salt would round out the flavor.

Is it possible to add saline solution to the juice? And how much would I add? TIA

About 1% of a .9% saline solution

Would drugstore saline be ok or do you know of another s source?

Depends. Drugstore saline's (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) tend to be for contact lenses & have other things in them, usually.

What you want is a saline solution that is just distilled water & salt. You can make your own with finely ground salt that is iodine-free.

2.5 grams of finely ground (or kosher, will take longer to solvate because it's course) salt into 226.796 grams(8 ounces) of distilled water for a .9% saline solution.

Thank you for that. I'll make my own then.

Do you think it adds something to the flavor?

In food, salt lowers the detectable threshold of aroma molecules in order for you to taste flavour notes, thereby making flavours "pop".

I haven't tried it in ejuice yet.

It seems like it did to me, but my main reason for using it was to help with the dry mouth/nose excessive vaping gives me. It definitely helps with that. The taste change may also be associated with it, perhaps it's just changing your perception of the juice, instead of actually altering the taste.

Seriously? I'll have to try it as I've had dry nose and ears from vaping.

When you use saline increase the steep time by a few days. It takes time for the water to mix evenly into the base oils.
