Some recipes in progress...
submitted about 10 years ago by nmsmith89

Greetings fellow mixologists!

I have been working on a few recipes and some of turned out pretty decent^IMO and I thought I would share them along with my thoughts. Most of these are still a work in progress so they will probably be changing. I can try my best to update them. For each recipe I will post the title with the recipe followed by a description and explanation. Any feedback, criticism, or compliments are welcome and encouraged.

So Jelly

Ingredients|Ing % :---|:---: Biscuit (Inawera)|0.75% Acetyl Pyrazine 5% PG (The Flavor Apprentice)|0.25% Strawberry (The Flavor Apprentice)|4.00% Boysenberry (Flavorah)|1.25% DX Peanut Butter (The Flavor Apprentice)|5.00% Vienna Cream (FlavourArt)|1.50% Meringue (FlavourArt)|2.00% Waffle (Capella)|2.00%

This is a pretty standard PB&J with strawberry jam. The thing I really like about it is that you get a very realistic "bread" flavor. The base makeup of the bread part is the AP and INW Biscuit but CAP Waffle is also added which really solidifies the bread notes as well as lends to the sweetness of the sandwich. The jelly component is TFA Strawberry with FLV Boysenberry to add some tartness and give it a more jammy kind of taste. I've heard good things about FLV Strawberry and how it's very jammy. I'd love to have used that instead of the TFA but sadly I do not have it. For the peanut butter I use TFA DX Peanut Butter simply because I try to aim for diketone free recipes but if you do not care that much you can use the regular version. The peanut butter component could use a little more complexity and maybe strength, something like INW Peanut or something, but my peanut butter type flavors are very limited. Lastly the FA Meringue and Vienna Cream smooth out and sweeten the peanut butter component and in turn the overall mix. I love this recipe and the few people that have tried it have told me that it's a spot on PB&J sandwich not just peanut butter and jelly mixed together. It is a little on the dry side as far as mouthfeel goes and if you find yourself having trouble with that then I suggest adding 1-2% Marshmallow.

.

Apple Muffs

Ingredients|Ing % :---|:---: DX Cinnamon Danish (The Flavor Apprentice)|3.00% Fuji (FlavourArt)|2.50% Apple Pie (FlavourArt)|1.00% Biscuit (Inawera)|0.25% Glazed Doughnut (Capella)|1.00% Vienna Cream (FlavourArt)|1.00%

I love this one! Great flavor and only 8.75% total flavoring. The crust/bread component is comprised of INW Biscuit and CAP Glazed Doughnut but the FA Apple Pie and TFA Cinnamon Danish also lend a hand in developing a nice dough. The FA Apple Pie also helps bolster the apple flavor in combination with FA Fuji which I have always thought is one of the best apple flavors out there. The TFA Cinnamon Danish also provides the cinnamon aspect of the recipe in addition to the bread/crust part. Lastly some FA Vienna Cream to smooth everything out as well as add some much needed creaminess. As with before, feel free to not use the DX versions at your discretion.

.

Doctor Lecter

Ingredients|Ing % :---|---: Lucky Leprechaun (The Flavor Apprentice)|3.00% Cookie (FlavourArt)|1.00% Berry Crunch (The Flavor Apprentice)|1.50% Joy (FlavourArt)|1.00% Vienna Cream (FlavourArt)|2.00% Lemon Sicily (FlavourArt)|0.50% Fuji (FlavourArt)|0.75% Tres Leches (Flavor West)|3.00% Meringue (FlavourArt)|2.00% Biscuit (Inawera)|0.50% Blueberry (Flavorah)|0.75% Marshmallow (Capella)|2.00% NOTE: This will taste like Blueberry High Life unless you steep and breathe it for at least a few days!

This last recipe is still VERY experimental and needs work but I thought I would share it anyways as it is kind of interesting. I avoided the dreaded lemon pledge taste by eliminated Fruit Circles all together and using Lucky Leprechaun and Lemon Sicily instead which worked out well IMO. Dropped down the Berry Crunch to avoid too strong of a "corn chip" flavor and added the Blueberry to bring up the berry/fruit notes. Tres Leches lends to the milk component as well as a little bit the the "cerealish" component. Marshmallow, Meringue, and Vienna for mouthfeel and sweetness as well as the milkiness, Fuji to brighten it up. I added Joy to see what would happen and I actually like the results after the mandatory steep. It's really hard to explain what exactly it adds but the only words which come to mind are "more reallish" which doesn't really define it well.

.

Well that's it for now. I hope you all enjoyed the recipes and if you didn't then send me your criticism. I also have a Black Cherry Pirouette that I'll post later as it's still in the baby stages. Thanks everyone!

So I'm vaping apple muffins right now (it's steeped for like two weeks) and it's amazing! One of my favorite juices for sure, it doesn't even necessarily need to steep but I think it does add a little something! and So Jelly tastes exactly like pb&j, It's crazy!. How did you even get that bread flavor? It's so weird (in a good way haha)how it's so spot on, it's super subtle but I can definitely taste white bread, which really surprised me because I think a lot of recipes like this leave out the subtler components, but you definitely didn't which is really cool. I think that was a really nice touch And Dr. Lector is good too, although, it definitely does need some steep time to get rid of that high life/uv blue taste, which I think only took about a day or so, but after that, it's just like super smooth blueberry goodness All of these are really good mixes, Apple Muffins is probably of of my all time favorites! Have you considered posting Battery Vapor V2 ("Purrs")? Because that mix (next to apple muffins) is probably one of the best

Also, on further thought, maybe you could cut down on the flavorings in dr. lector? I feel like there's a lot and perhaps getting rid of some of it would make it cleaner and you could possibly get rid of that blueberry alcohol taste that happens right after mixing? Maybe it's not necessary but I just feel like there's a lot going on in that one.

Been making something very similar to "Doctor Lectar" myself, using lucky leprechaun and berry crunch to get a nice cereal flavour without that corn chip taste. I've been using FLV blueberry muffin at 1% for the blueberry part (the muffin complements the cereal IMO).

I've been using fruit circles in mine and my next plan was to try a lemon flavour instead, looks like FA Lemon Sicily will be the first to try. :)

I'm also considering adding Fuji now, something I'd never have considered myself.

Cheers for the inspiration! :D

Thank you! One of the things that had always bothered me about cereals is that a lot of them contain a high percentage of berry crunch which gives it IMO a nasty corn chip taste. That's why I've been trying to get around it and same with the fruit circles too.

I find that in small percentages Fuji can really brighten things up. Blueberry Muffin sounds like a great idea. I will have to get that flavor

INW Lemon > FA Lemon Sicily for cereals.
