So I wanted to post a recipe I've been working on. I love Hobbes' Blood; it's the business. When I first started DIY juice, I bought TFA Watermelon, Strawberry and Coconut extra in bulk to make the stuff based on recipes that had been going around. No matter what I did, the coconut was off. I might be one of those people that just doesn't get off on Coconut Extra. Shit, I have no idea what to do with the 4oz. bottle that I've barely touched.
Moving on. It's been a while since I revisited Hobbes' Blood, and I wanted to play around with the flavor profile and see what I could come up with now that my flavoring arsenal is well over 150 flavors. I had my roommate try this flavor, and he hilariously misheard me when I told him the juice I was remaking, and called it Hog's Blood, hence the glorious name. Without further delay, I present to you Hog's Blood:
(TFA) Watermelon - 4%
(CAP) Sweet Watermelon - 5%
(TFA) Strawberry - 2%
(TFA) Strawberry Ripe - 2%
(CAP) Sweet Strawberry - 3%
(FLV) Strawberry - 1%
(FLV) Sweet Coconut - 1.5%
This stuff is just so damn good. I wanted to throw a wrench in the gears and mess around with Flavorah here. Flavorah is very quickly becoming one of my favorite flavor suppliers, alongside Inawera and FlavorArt. Their peanut butter is the best thing since peanuts. Their strawberry is very different from other strawberry flavorings; some folks around these parts have mentioned strawberry jam, and that's dead on in my book. Throwing a little bit in here with the other more commonly used strawberries was a fun little tweak. I forgot to buy watermelon both times I purchased from flavorah, but next time I'll grab some and mix some in here.
On to my favorite part: Sweet coconut. When I first purchased from flavorah, some folks round here said their coconut was awesome. Well, I was thinking with my wallet and not my head, so I bought sweet coconut instead. Its still a damn awesome flavor. I just got FA coconut in the mail, and I'll play around with that in this recipe too. But sweet coconut is the shit's tits here; I'm loving this stuff. It lends a sweetness that's different from the sweetener I usually use (TFA Cotton Candy) and I love it.
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this recipe and as always, FIND WAYS TO MAKE IT BETTER! Make some substitutions or additions you feel might be even better; I'd love to hear about them and give them a shot!
EDIT**: dat speelling doe
Hearing good things about FLV a lot lately... if only their 15ml bottles weren't $12...
Hmmm correction, I guess half that price. Guess I assumed they all were when I was looking up a couple specific flavors.
A couple of them are that expensive. Most aren't. They had a sale hear a little while ago that was awesome, and they have 10% coupons somewhere around if you look.
