Advice sought RE: 100% VG Nic
submitted about 10 years ago by kaizokushinobi

Hej!

So, i got this 72mg nic the other day from a reputable company, but i hadn't used 100% VG before so wasn't aware of the problems it can present regarding fully mixing the nic in the solution and whatnot.

I made up a 50ml batch @4mg (2.75ml nic) and drew 1ml of nic into the syringe without shaking up the bottle, then thought i probably should and shook it before drawing the remaining 1.75 ml, then i read some posts about some peoples experiences with it that made me think i done goofed.

I tried the juice today, tastes fine and there's no real harshness to it, but my hypochondriac brain is trying to convince me i should throw it away and start again in case i get nicotine poisoning. But before i do I thought i'd look to you guys for some advice on whether this has any validity or not: even if i forgot to shake up the nic, what's the worst case for how much would be in there if i drew only pure nic and no VG? I'm not aware of the dilution maths behind it!

Sorry for wall of text, and thanks in advance!

Did you get a headache after vaping it? If not its probably fine, but one of the best things about DIY is you can toss it for any reason and make another and its no big deal.

Not really, i only had a few pulls on it though. Yeah, you're probably right, completely out of one of the flavours though which is a pain but i'll survive. Thanks!

If its vaping ok and you're not noticing any signs of extra nic, its fine.

Remember, if the nic in fact wasn't properly mixed, its just as likely you drew a ml into your syringe with less nic in it as it is one with more.

You'd notice right away when you vape it if you had gotten a real large amount in there.

That is what i thought, what would the signs of extra nic be besides a harsher throat hit?

Harsher throat hit would be the most obvious, but if it was a real large amount of nicotine you'd also notice headaches, dizziness, nausea etc pretty quickly.

Yeah, it really doesn't have any harsher throat hit than when I was mixing it at 6mg so I'll persist with it i think, thanks for your input =]

Harsher throat hit. You may or may not get a headache depending on your hydration. Slight dizziness, your body will struggle slightly with temperature and you may feel and and cold changing or even feel cold when the room is warm.

Don't worry though you will feel these effects LONG before it gets dangerous when vaping.

You'll live, and the juice sounds like it's fine. Carry on

I sometime forget to shake my nic too and have never had a problem with it not being mixed or with pulling straight nic that I know of. Dont worry you will be fine I started putting a label on my cut nic bottle that says "shake me before use" just so I dont forget.

Thanks bud, is reassuring to hear that. I figured it would be a lot harsher than i'm used to if it was anything > 10mg anyway!

The taste/harshness would be immediately noticeable. You're probably fine.

You're fine. And shaking the bottle is bullshit. I expect product to be homogenized when it's sent to me, especially nicotine of that strength.

The less dangerous side of hotspots in your base(high concentration pockets of nic) is that there are also coldspots. You either pulled a well-mixed section of the base, or a coldspot. Either way I wouldn't toss it out. It won't cause damage before you realize something is wrong with your juice. Enjoy yourself, but if you start feeling ill, and getting the shakes, have some water and stop vaping the juice.

It is recommended to shake the nic, of course.
I don't know if nic floats or sinks, but I think you may have pulled from the "less nic" level on your first syringe.
If you pulled from the "more nic" level, you would have felt it.

You wont get nicotine poisoning from something you can comfortably vape.
