First-time poster, long-time lurker when it comes to this sub. I've been mixing on and off for at least a year now and recently have started selling juice to my roommates, and DIYing on a larger scale (I bought 4oz bottles of concentrates.. the PRICE difference good lord). Since i sell for pretty cheap (5$/30) my roommates have been buying a lot off of me and recently more vapers i know have approached me on buying my juice. Whats the legality there? Obviously if they're underage that would be a problem, but besides that, when does it become a "small business" or whatever? Also, can i ship juice to people?
Thank in advance for responses, on a more DIY topic, i tried sweet cream DX from TFA and despite it having butryic acid, it wasn't half bad.
Legally at this point in time you can sell/ship as much as you want. Certain cities and counties may require you to retain a business license to conduct sales and have varying requirements when it comes to reporting sales tax.
For liability purposes, I would recommend you form an LLC at a very minimum. Once that is done, a general liability policy and product liability may be needed depending on your size, assets and the state in which you conduct business.
You are required by the IRS to report ALL income, whether it's $20 for the calendar year or $20,000,000.
Secret IRS Enforcement agent.^^
No IRS, but Tax experience with a business. Trust me, the extra few hundred in cash in your bank won't raise any eyebrows, but regular large cash deposits less than 10k if noticed by a bank manager can get you hit with structuring and your assets can be seized. The IRS will only be interested after the DEA and homeland security lose interest.
Just done enough work for myself in my life to know better =).
A lot of people think there is a $600 minimum but in reality that's just the threshold at which a business is required to file a 1099 for an independent contractor. Most think if they don't earn more than that they don't have to file it though.
I know way too much about taxes and insurance...
hey botboy141 i just set up my llc for my juice company and now waiting for everything to come back my next step is to set up my ein and business license, i wanna know how do i claim my taxes when lets say i start to get orders in how do i show how much my business has earned?
everything /u/botboy141 said is correct.
But in reality you have two options.
-
keep it at the level your doing now, don't let too many people know about it. don't even think about selling too a B&M and just sell too friends. Keep it cash only and nobody will know a damn thing, but you won't make much money at all off it.

get an LLC and all the good stuff a e-juice company needs. your clean room (advised) stuff too mix in bulk etc etc etc and start giving uncle sam a bit of your hard earned profit.
I'm currently working into option. 2
edit: though I have never been a big fan of the uncle sam portion DOWN WITH THE IRS!! Flat ta...oh wait, not the place for this XD
No regulations at all
So you're the guy who called out suicide bunny on ecr?

Have a real problem with people busting into your house and trying to steal your precious recipe book?
I can picture it now /u/DallasTxEnt goes about their day constantly warding off attackers seeking the holy grail of e juice recipes. He's never safe, can't trust anyone including his pet dog. Has to sleep with one eye open at all times. caressing his book while he sleeps; it's the only thing that gives him relief in the night after all the savages tried to steal his precious.
But seriously that made me laugh, thanks.
>Also NEVER GIVE ANYONE RECIPES EVER. EVER.
Then how do we progress and learn from each other? It is a great thing when I see someone else's recipe and mix it up and it's a good vape. Sharing recipes and ideas fuels progression here.
What I meant was more along the lines of don't give them to someone who could steal your ideas and sell it out from under you.. I share what I can on here haven't posted any in a while though
