Bendro's Strawberry Horchata
submitted about 10 years ago by BendroRodrigo

Before I get down to it, I'd like to thank everyone that replied to my previous thread 'Perfecting Horchata'. Especially /u/skiddlzninja , solid advice on the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream!

Now, to the flavor! Recipe is as follows:

  • TFA Sweet Cream - 5%
  • TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - 4%
  • TFA DX Vanilla Cupcake - 3%
  • TFA Strawberry (not ripe) - 2%
  • TFA Marshmallow - 2%
  • TFA Horchata (not smooth) - 1%
  • FW Madagascar Vanilla - 1%
  • 70/30 VG/PG, 3mg/ml Nic

On the inhale I get a decent amount of horchata and vanillas with the strawberry coming through here and there. The exhale is smooth and creamy. Aftertaste is amazing in my opinion. Almost like everything coming together with a balance of sweetness and spice. At first I was wondering if I should hold off and get some Strawberry Ripe as it seems overall most people prefer it. However, I am glad I went with just Strawberry. The 'seedyness' of this flavor helps the strawberry come out. Though my opinion is that TFA Strawberry is kind of flat, in this recipe I believe it helps put the ornery horchata in it's place. To those that consume horchata regularly, if you try this recipe please give me your input! This is version 1 of my strawberry variant and would like to keep improving it, if possible.

I think you mean .3% nicotine, 3% would be 30mg

Ok, so I mixed this on the 4th (two weeks ago) but with INW vanilla subbed in for Madagascar. It was an interesting shake and vape - strawberry, cream and cinnamon pretty even all around. After hanging out in my juice box for two weeks, it's now a strawberry red hots kind of vibe. The strawberry is pretty mild, and the aftertaste of spicy cinnamon is a lot stronger. Much like having eaten a red hot an hour or so ago. The cream isn't really prominent.

Very interesting. Not something I'll probably make again but it was a fun experiment. Thanks!

Thank you for the input! I may try making a creamy horchata base and then adding that in stead of the horchata. Kinda like how people use milkstone. I also want to try this with different strawberries and see how it works out.

If cinnamon vapes were more appealing to me, I'd try the mild horchata version. I really liked mad town vapors horchata mild, but it's the only one so far that I've really enjoyed.

I didn't realize there are two kinds of horchata.

Yeah I was kinda perplexed when I ordered Horchata from TFA when I saw that. I have heard smooth is pretty much just the same thing but weaker and creamier. Would likely save me throwing all that Sweet Cream and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream into the mix.

I have everything but the Madagascar vanilla. I'll give it a shot (subbing another vanilla) on my next days off - it sounds delicious!

You could probably get away with another classic vanilla or vanilla bourbon and be just fine. I can taste the Madagascar Vanilla slightly, but I doubt it will break the recipe if you sub it out. Might even make it better. Let me know!

how long did you let it steep for?

It's a pretty decent shake-and-vape, but I heat steeped it for a few hours and let it breath for a couple more. The next day I went to town on it. To be honest I haven't had a bottle last more than a week. I really need to put it down and let it steep for a couple weeks to see what happens.
