Evaperated's Blue Sky Bitch clone
submitted about 10 years ago by five_magicsMixologist

Hey there, for months now Ive been trying to clone this juice with zero success. For those who dont know the juice, its a mix of blue raspberry with sour apple. Its a very sweet and sour juice, most people comparing it to a blue slushie or blue mr freeze.

I tried TFA blue raspberry, FA raspberry, TFA raspberry sweet, FA Apple, FA fuji apple, TFA green apple, TFA apple, TFA apple candy. Gave up until recently I picked up some FW green apple and FW raspberry and there it was. Even after over a year without BSB, a few drags and I immediatly knew I was getting much closer.

And now for the main course, I present to thee my attempt at cloning one of the best ejuices Ive ever had, Blue Sky Bitch!

10% FW raspberry

2% FW green apple

1% TFA EM

1% FA Lemon sicily

Now this isnt the final version, but its already getting pretty close to the original IMO. Right now the Raspberry is a bit too predominant and the green apple not quite present enough. It could also benefit from 1% TFA sour or so. I remember the original being a big coil gunker so there might also be some sweetener in there.

Next version will most likely consist of;

9% FW raspberry

3% FW green apple

1% TFA EM/TFA sweetener

1% FA lemon sicily

1% TFA sour

I might also add 1% TFA Pear to add a bit of complexity to it.

If you do try this recipe out, please leave some feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Also remember I havent had the original in over a year, so it is quite a challenge for my clumsy palate. If you have some suggestions feel free to participate.

Enjoy!

Edit1: forget about the TFA pear as it can drop the sweetness/candyness of some fruits. I would go with FA pear instead.

Edit2: if youre going to substitute a flavor, dont sub with the raspberries I mentionned above. Mixed with an apple flavor they give a chemically taste. The apple could probably be subbed with Fuji apple or TFA apple. Forget about TFA green apple or apple candy.

2 things- Have you tried CAP Green Apple instead of FW? I have found it better all around but I'm not sure if it fits your target juice to clone.
Is FW Raspberry for sure the primary flavor in the original? If so- I will add it to my next order with the INW raspberry.

Havent tried the CAP green apple yet. Really I got the FW green apple, and it seemed sour and sweet like I was looking for. Mixed it with the raspberry and bam notes from BSB all over the place.

Havent tried INW raspberry either but I have heard lots of good about it. The raspberry in the recipe is indeed the dominant flavor, with a sour apple background. The raspberry needs to be sweet and candyish. FA and TFA raspberries were too natural and not dominant/sweet enough for this recipe. To be honest both taste chemically to me.

Like I said I havent tasted the original in a long while, so the FW raspberry might not be the one, but it is close enough.

If you have tried BSB, try your flavors and let me know of the outcome!

Awesome, I'll have to keep this one in mind for future reference. I'm really hoping for a patient zero clone to appear now that it is up for reformulation and will be changing due to acetoin not diacetyl surprisingly.

Never was a fan of custards myself. I did go through a 10ml sample tho and it was good, just not my type.

Cant help you with it :P. But from what I remember of the smell, Id say TFA vanilla bean ice cream, TFA bavarian cream and probably some custard(unfamiliar with those) would be a good start.

From the lack of diketones I'd hazard a guess it would be Cap's V1 or FW Custard. I'm still a complete noob as I'm awaiting orders I placed with all-ecig and diy-ejuice last night to get started. Also a buttload of sweetener or EM. Almost all Evaperated juices are very heavy on flavorings and sweeteners. Max VG iirc is typically around 65-70% I recall reading.

Like I said Im not a big fan of custards and creams(except Banana cream of course :) ), wish I could help.

To be honest I dont really care about diketones, Im off the smokes so... yeah you get the draft hehe.

But yeah their juices are heavy coil gunkers, the ones I tried a year+ ago were major gunkers (cloud 9, bsb, zomberry). BSB definitly contains some malic acid, sucralose and/or EM.

FW Blue Ice is pretty spot on all by itself

FW blue ice from what Ive read is a blue slush with koolada, which is far from BSB.

People compare it to blue slush but to me it never tasted like such. To me its raspberry with a sour apple background.

Funny enough, that is how I'd describe the taste of blue slush. You're right though, totally forgot about the cooling.

Is the final juice blue? if so where does it come from? Raspberry?

The original you can get in blue or clear version. If it's actually a flavor that is colored blue, all I can think of is LA, I'd have to check LA's flavors more in depth, but I think it's just coloring they add to it.

IIRC the blue color was an extra option when ordering. But yeah I could be wrong it's been a while.

If it's a mix of blue raspberry and sour apple you should try adding a blueberry flavoring.

Tried TFA blueberry extra before and to be honest I can barely taste the flavor. Have yet to try the Wild version.

I recently received some FA bilberry tho, I'll give it a try next time I mix.

I've never actually had the original, but its caught my eye a few times so I got pretty excited to realize I have all the ingredients for your clone. I added .5% INW raspberry, because I love the stuff.

I really like this! A good balance of sour and sweet on the exhale with a fresh tasting inhale.. I must say, the taste really suprised me because I wasn't super excited from the smell.. after a couple days of steeping, the least pleasant, volatile high notes (alcohol I suspect) are gone, and I'm really loving this. I'll be vaping this for a while, it's a really tight blue raspberry. Thanks man!

I'm really happy to hear this, you have no idea how good it feels! But tell me, did you go for the first version or the second one?

Yeah both flavors (raspberry and green apple) contain ethyl alcohol, so it does need a few days of steeping. But they don't seem so heavy on alcohol, so leaving the cap off seems useless to me, unless you wanna vape it soon after mixing.

And INW raspberry... for some reason ever since I posted this clone, I see it in every thread I swear. It's definitly gonna be in my next order. But do tell me, how's it like? Is it more like a natural raspberry, or more candyish? IIRC some people mentionned it tasting a bit like shisha raspberry, is that correct?

Thanks again for the feedback, and if you end up experimenting with it again, please, please let me know how it turns out. Feedback (especially like yours) is the reason I share my recipes here. Don't hesitate to PM me if you have anything to add :).

EDIT: I have another iteration steeping right now, very close to the second version. If you'd like I can PM you about the results once I taste it.

The chick that runs the company has stated that at 6mg max VG it's around 70% VG. Assuming the nic they use is 100% PG and 100mg, That would mean around 24% flavouring. I've also read that MBV's Razzel dazzle flavour is very similar.

1 points

by five_magicsabout 10 years agoMixologist

Didn't know about that. But again that's assuming. Seems like a lot of flavoring imo.

Never tried MBV's Razzel dazzle before, will check that out.

Look her up and read all her comments.. They use PG nic as far as i can tell. I see no reason it would not be 100mg considering the cost saving that would give over anything lower.

Tried looking at her posts history after your last post actually, and didn't have the patience :/. All I came across were praise posts in /r/canadian_ecigarette.

If you do have a specific thread/comment in mind feel free to share tho, it'd be appreciated.

So what's the final recipe for Blue Sky Bitch? I would love to try this juice, I loved the original

1 points

Been off mixing for a little while. Next on my list is /u/Skiddlzninja's blue raspberry base with a few different apple flavorings (FA fuji, TFA green apple, FW green apple), altho this is probably gonna divert from being a clone. Also just got FLV green apple which I still need to try out.

Meanwhile you should try the second version in OP, which is so far the best I came up with. It still requires some tweakings, I still find the raspberry a bit dominant and the whole thing gets muted after a few tanks(probably due to gunking).

You can also play around with INW raspberry which tastes pretty close to red sour patch kids IMO.

Alright thanks! I'll order the INW raspberry. Been looking for a clone for BSB and this is the only one I came across. I tried it myself, but to no avail. How close would you say your second recipe is to the original?

Like I said in the post I haven't had the original for a long time so it might be off, but it definitly reminds me of it. Someone also mentionned adding INW raspberry turned pretty good aswell.
