So I've been mixing for about 5 months now and for the majority of the time I've been using a small dymo handheld label maker. Sure it gets the job done, but now that I'm starting to give more bottles away to friends and actually getting more experienced with mixing I want something a little more tasteful. I've read all about using Avery labels with laser printers but for now I have a brother inkjet printer. Should I invest in something like the Brother QL-570? I usually only make a few bottles at a time so I feel like printing on a sheet of labels for two or three bottles would be wasteful. Anyone have any recommendations as to what I should do?
I use an inkjet and avery labels. If I make 3 labels, I just reuse the sheet. Print then save in ms word so I know where I left off.
Which avery labels do you use specifically if you don't mind me asking ? I want to do this method
So let's say I print 3 labels. When I make the next templet do I make it start printing on the third column? This is what I was confused about. Also, can I make cool customized logos with ms word? I want more than the basics.
You download a template for Word. It has lines drawn exactly like the sheet. So you can print on whatever label you want. I go in order and save the document after printing, so next time I can just delete the 3 old labels and continue where the sheet left off. I don't get into images, but I'm sure you can import any image you like.
I have a similar model of Brother thermal printer, and it may not be necessary but they do work well and produce professional labels for much lower cost per label than laser or (hah) inkjet printers.
Do you have any examples of the labels you make? Which model do you have?
I have the QL700. Not my image, but here is an example label.
Don't bother getting a new printer. Labels will be fine. Don't need anything social unless you are planning to start a company.
Even so, lots of them use standard ink jet labels.

I just bought that label maker 2 days ago. It's supposed to arrive today. I was going to label them exactly like you do.
Quick question though, roughly, about how many bottles does a roll of tape make?
Using the auto label length setting they come out at about 1.5" long. The length of a new tape cartridge is 30'. That gives you around 240 labels. IIRC the length of the cartridge included with the maker is only 10', so that's about 80 labels.
