Corn: the next frontier
submitted about 10 years ago by MrsCustardSeesYou

I read a description awhile back for a Teleos brand juice that relied on corn as one of it's flavors (supposedly.) http://www.giantvapes.com/experiment-one-eliquid/

I like seeing companies break out into new flavor profiles. Five Pawns was my first introduction to interesting flavor choices. I thought tobacco and cream was pretty inspired (just my opinion though.)

When I read the description of One, which is corn, frosted flakes and something else, it made me start considering corn as a base flavor to layer other flavors on top of.

I am not planning on making a corn flavor for awhile (just put my order in with bull city vapes so I should be good for awhile.) However they don't carry corn as a flavor. Where would one get that? Or would I have to rely on popcorn, kettle corn, candy corn et. al.?

What do you think? Any chance corn could create aome good savory vapes that wouldn't be just novelties? Because I think as a sweet vape it has a lot of possibilities even if initially it might seem a bit odd.

I have an idea for corn, and I found this: http://www.naturesflavors.com/organic-corn-flavor-extract-without-diacetyl/p60279/

but I'm just getting started; I need a little practice before I dive into the exotic.

FlavourArt makes a Corn flavor, but it's much more likely to be AP, sweeten that a little and instead of Frito's you have Corn Pops.

Edit - right abbreviation...

I've been playing with ideas this evening.

I'm thinking sour cream and onion corn chips.

Not that I'll even try that anytime soon because I'm still learning recipes but still. That's my current idea.

Is there a sour cream flavor?

I have no idea. I think there's a greek yogurt flavor. Otherwise maybe there'd be a way to manipulate milk or cream flavor with some sour.

What I want to know is where's some chive flavor. There must be some somewhere.

That might be one where you mix two flavors and two flavors the. Put both combinations together after a steep. A "secret" I was told by a very successful retailer.

They said it was the first attempt at a cereal flavor in 2013 and it wasnt what they were going for. So basically it was an accident lol, Im still waiting for my bottle to come in but Im pretty sure theyre using AP in there some where. Most people say taste like sweet corn pudding. Idk Im stumped and excited to try it

I really hope this becomes a thing, as getting some skilled mixologist on board for a diy Arepa de choclo would be dreamy for me.

That looks delicious. I hope you get your wish.

However, as for me, that looks so good that I'm going to play with making that for real in the kitchen. It looks so unhealthy it has to be good! Lol.

Nice! Enjoy, when I make the mess I go ahead and make extra batter and keep it in the fridge.

There's a company local to me that makes a Corn Flakes liquid. It was a pretty good representation of corn flakes in milk. Very little sweetness. It wasn't bad, but by the time i finished 30ml, I was done with it and haven't felt the need to go back.

Yeahhhhhh, no.

Thanks for the chuckle though. Alibaba would scare me for diy ingredients.

I mean if you are willing to sell your soul for that sweet corn flavor!

Corn can be tricky, I've had some success achieving an experiment 1 clone using super high percentage of kettle corn, acetyl pyrazine, and fa custard. load that up with sweetner and you get something in the ball park but nothing to write home about. I'm assuming they are probably using more vendors/different approach than I am but working with what I got it is pretty decent.

For whatever reason coconut and corn have some overlap structurally, so it may be possible to use coconut in a way probably in low percentages to impart more of a rounded out corn flavor. I saw some thread long ago when someone had success using coconut to help impart a more rounded rice flavor with coconut. Savory is an... interesting frontier, to say the least.

Local B&M had something called Cambodian Breast Milk (Chapelle's Show) by a brand called Vape Troopers. https://vapetroopers.com/product/cbm/

It was interesting. The coconut was more prominent, but the corn was intriguing. More of a sweet corn than buttered, kind of like canned corn.
