Get A Load of This Guy
submitted about 10 years ago by JustSayNoToDiacetyl

Just saw a recipe posted on ELR. It's a fruity pebbles recipe. What's interesting is the guy's comments, especially his last paragraph:

>Meringue and hazlenut do not belong in cereal flavors. If you are going to sell this in your store ( which is highly likely ) i ask for %10 of your sales , or i can make large batches at your request :)

I beg to differ that meringue and hazlenut don't belong in cereal flavors.

Second, it's douchey to pull a Rip Trippers and ask for a percentage of someone's sales. If you DIY and if you post recipes for public perusal, you take the risk that someone is profiting off your work.

Hay guys this is actually my recipe , Sorry for all the confusion . I didnt put this recipe up and expect any type of percentage , that was simply a bit of a joke / gloating about the recipe... i was hoping that the simple smiley face would show that . I was not expecting someone to take the time out to put up a thread for the sole purpose of bashing me .

If anyone honestly thought i was serious dont you think it would have been smart to put up contact information from a business standpoint ?

The reason i say hazelnut and meringue do not belong in cereal ejuices is because they throw off the flavor . With thousands of mixes under my belt thats simply my standpoint on those flavors for cereal type ejuices .

And yes lemon lime is the key . If some of you have noticed TFA fruit circles gets a really funky chemical type taste when you pass 3% . The lemon lime gives you the best of fruit circles without the chemical"y" taste . But the supporting cast flavors give it the cereal taste .

LOL.. Who would share a recipe online and SERIOUSLY request a percentage of sales?? I read this and instantly saw it as a sarcastic joke. But I do enjoy Meringue I think it can be a nice addition at low %. I'll have to pick up a few flavors but I'd like to give your recipe a shot.

I got that it was a joke, but this is the internet - some people don't know a joke if it had them in a choke-hold ;D

Meringue/Hazelnut was used mostly for that generic cereal and milk taste. It's a strange looking recipe for sure and one that I actually do not have all the flavors for. May bookmark it for a future test. I am not a huge fan of many capella/flavorwest flavorings myself; but who knows it may turn out to be the best cereal juice ever. Either ways don't get too butthurt over the bashing it's just fun and games.

I realize it's a joke, and am fine with that. However, I'd like to disagree and ask how meringue and hazelnut don't belong in cereal. Are you making a cereal milk flavor? Are you only shooting for the flavor the cereal is trying to emulate?(lemon, blueberry, raspberry mix?) I'm just asking to see if you and I are going for different profiles, seeing as the meringue@.5-1% adds the waxy glaze that is on fruit loops, and the hazelnut@2d/10mL works to accentuate the grain flavor of the cereal. What are your thoughts on this, and how do you make up for this in your recipe?

I was hoping that the simple smiley face would show that :

Many of us did not read your actual post and didn't see a smiley face , i just read what the topic starter said above so it's an easy oversight .

I think I should comment that I'm going to mix that juice, sell it, and that I'm not going to give him a dime...

Let me know how it tastes if you actually end up making it... I'm kind of curious if the lemon lime actually works. But considering this guy I'm kind of skeptical

LOL. I don't even have CAP lemon lime or half the BS ingredients he uses in this.

Yeah definitely the weirdest cereal recipe i've seen. Maybe someone was trying to be nice and told him it was good.

I would like to know how it tastes too. I have everything but cap lemon lime. If it's good I will open a shop just to sell it, maybe even give it it's own website. Now to think of a catchy name.

This is super disappointing to read after the long post about how shitty ECR is. I kind of expect better from this sub.

Hazelnut is a key ingredient in the captain crunch frappucino.

Speaking as a barista, just because Starbucks says it'll taste like Captain Crunch doesn't mean it will. Cotton Candy Frappucino? More like Vanilla Bean and Beaver Anal Extract Frappucino.

I used to work at Starbucks and the Captain Crunch frapp tasted exactly like blended Captain Crunch. It wasn't a menu item, it was something someone made up when they were bored.

I busted out laughing when i read :

" I ask for 10 % of your sales if you sell it in your store"

That has got to be one of the funniest things i have ever read , what World does this guy live in , does he really expect someone to call and say i want to send you your percentage since you requested it.

You just can't make this shit up lol.

Every hobby seems to develop its own fake-ass "intellectual property" rules. Hopefully no one gives people like him enough credence that people start expecting they can somehow "own" recipes they publish.

You can't copyright recipes, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

#3 by jonnybagadonuts, today, at 00:33 Its funny you would think iam serious i was hoping the smiley face would convey that lol .

Whats also funny is asking for only %10 of sales for the recipe , whats cracks me up even more is someone that would actually try to pay me for the recipe instead of just making it themselves after i posted the recipe lol .

i agree, however I do not agree with the riptrippers thing. but thats an entirely different thing.

twisteds call out was info from a third party about a third party. who the hell knows if its true. so many wanted jump on the derail the rip train and nobody even knows the truth. its just ridiculous in my opinion.

It means /u/josephaa may frequent 4chan or it's derivatives. But i have to agree this recipe author sounds a bit like a fedora wearing neck-beard. It's a bit pretentious to demand a 10% cut from a publicly posted recipe.
